We booked our family into the spa for several treatments.Despite an 18% surcharge on our services a "tip" was requested. In South Florida,I have been a patron at many spa and have no issue with an automatic gratuity but twice? The mamoth "towel boy" who creepily watched the pool area was weird. My husband went to move a small side table to his beach lounger and was told he could not."Gotta keep things in order....no disrespect." Only one table per row was allowed and it had to stay at the end of the row. This fellow weighed about 300lb's and was obviosly more suited for a bouncer ina seedy bar.He never once smiled or showed any customer service. The server who brought samples of non alcoholic smoothies was no friendlier....never a word or smile. The "bouncer " even went to the spa to make sure we weren't "sneaking in! We are all adults,my husband almost 50.The front desk seemed friendly, pool area is beach-side,spa had some fruit and tea,no coffee, very small area to relax after treatments.Staff was ok.Sent me to the lockers without the code ,very busy chatting.Management needs to take a hard look to improve.

The Good,
-Nice beach location

The Bad
-Price
-No internet reception unless you hung out in the lobby with all the other people trying to get online. There is no excuse for this IMO as internet is a must. Its like water, hydro and beds - a requiredment.
-cramped aging rooms would be fine for a $100 per night - not for $200+

The Ugly
- Staff at restaurant outside was unbelievable. Sat down eager to enjoy the nice beach setting and a lovely lunch. Literally sat for 10 minutes and despite making eye contact several time with staff was not given a menu or water etc...for the four of us. Went to bar area and asked for and was given menus, went back to the table and we sat another 10 minutes while we decided on our orders. STILL not one visit to the table from any of the staff(who were busily talking and laughing among themselves while we and most of the others tables say and simmered). We waited another 5 minutes and just left without eating and were never once spoken to. This is not a taco bell but rather a supposedly higher end Marriott...not that this would be acceptable at a Taco Bell either. We ate a nice meal down the beach and also ended up cutting our planned stay back by two days for another hotel. If I were a manger at this place and would have seen that staff I would have sacked everyone involved.

We don't mind spending money(enjoy it in fact) but if you are going to charge big dollars then you have to back it up. This place must get by on its great location and the Marriott name not the actual product or service.

We like to stay here before & after a cruise - great beach and right on the boardwalk. People who work here are very friendly, helpful & efficient.

Be sure to ask for a corner room or at least one facing the water.

Pleasantly suprised by accommodation in Hollywood, Florida. The Marriott Beach Hotel was great - fabulous location, older hotel but with charm and all amenities one would need - morning coffees on balcony watching the sunrise; evening - glorious sunsets over the Intracoastal. Staff very pleasant and available. The only downside was the food - poor kitchen and wouldn't recommend eating at the hotel. Otherwise, it fulfilled all of our expectations!

We tried staying at a small hotel pre-cruise and had escape from that in a hurry. The Marriott was just what was needed. The location was perfect- right on the boardwalk next to the beach. Staff and restaurant were great with reasonable prices and the room was fresh and clean which was a welcome relief. A little pricey but after the previous motel it was a bargin.

We had a four day stay at this absolutely wonderful hotel. Being a silver elite member I frequent Marriott often. THIS Marriott goes above and beyond. Right from the start the front desk check in by Natasha was above expectations. Her personality and willingness to accomodate already set the level of an excellent hotel. Our room was spectacular, we had a OV balcony room, a view that goes on for miles. The pool area is great with front views of the ocean while sun bathing. The Restaurant and food were excellent. Their wasnt a staff member that wasnt friendly or always wiling to help. I used the spa services which also was excellent. I will frequent this Marriott and I highly suggest this hotel for your stay.

Room Tip: I suggest an ocean view room with balcony

The location is what makes this hotel an outstanding pick. My family of 4--2 adults and 2 children stayed here after spending a few days in Orlando. The location is superb and the view from our very tiny balcony was spectacular.

The hotel and garage need some updating and renovating. Definitely quality furnishing, but things seem to be starting to fall apart. Also, the room is extremely small--this is the one drawback. Although, the room supposedly fits up to 4 guests. Things were very cramped. We needed two rooms. There is no hotel access from the garage--I found this to be a little strange.

I agree with the other viewers about hotel restaurant--food superb; service so so. Also, late night pizza was a quick and filling choice for our kids.

We were there for the beach and to attend the Chelsea games and the SunLife arena in Miami.

I would definitely stay here again--for the location. It is the most cost effective choice!
