I must say that this was a great stay for my 50th Birthday Party with family and friends - we rented (3) rooms # 19,17 & 16 - with no complaints. The ladies at the front desk took care of every thing we needed. I will be coming back to the SBI for many future trips my family members really loved the place and they too will be repeated customers - Thanks again for a great stay - Regards
Laura

Room Tip: any room would be great - remember you're at the beach

We enjoyed our previous visit so much we returned for a longer stay. This time we stayed in a one bedroom unit on the second floor (#13). The bedroom was roomy with lots of shelves. The living area had a table, chairs and sleeper couch. The kitchenette was a one piece combination stove, oven, sink, refrigerator unit in the living area. It was adequate for simple cooking. We used the small oven for pizza. There was a full sized refrigerator on the adjacent wall, as well as a coffee pot and microwave. The deck area outside our door had chairs and a table with umbrella. Although it overlooked the parking area, it provided a pleasant place for an early breakfast as we could see the sun peaking over the buildings to the east. It was also perfect for watching the moon rise while sipping wine at night.
The beach is incredible – plenty of clean white sand for building sand castles or just relaxing. Ample beach chairs and loungers are available The beach-side fire pit is a nice addition. We used the gas grill to cook dinner and then eat at the beach-side patio table one of our nights. No pool, but didn't miss it as the gulf was just steps away.
Reminiscent of Florida beach cottages of years ago. If you want a simple place on the beach at a good price – this is it!

The beach was beautiful! The price was good (50% off Trip Advisor). The location was nice and quiet.

The room was cramped for the 3 of us (suppose to accommodate 4), had to sit a bit sideways on the toilet - very small bathroom, no Toilet paper, owner walked right in our room (lucky I was dressed and he did apologize but that made me a bit uncomfortable), lots of chairs for lounging, almost too many, as they were just scattered about, some were dirty and there were piles of beach toys and other things that made it feel "junky", cigarette butts in ashtrays and on an outdoor table where we were enjoying some lunch. Felt a bit lost in 1974 at this inn. The Sunburst has potential and could be brought up to date with a bit more attention to detail and a few modern amenities. Unfortunately, we missed having a pool to cool off in, even though the gulf was steps away.

Room Tip: Spend the money for a bigger room , unless you're traveling alone.

Hi again;

I am so sorry about the accidental walk in, but as I explained somehow the wrong dates were showing on the computer and it showed the room as open.

On the number of people the room sleeps, maybe you forgot to extend the futon in the room. They are brand new and are queen size with innerspring mattresses that easily sleeps 2 people. With the queen sized bed 4 people can be accommodated comfortably.

There should have been plenty of toilet paper and paper towels when you arrived, but when we saw each other after the incident nothing was mentioned. I apologize and will advise my manager that these things need to be double checked prior to a guests check in time.

I hope you give us another chance to meet your expectations.

Michael

Spent a whole week at this hotel. From day one we had issues with the management. The room had sand on the floors as soon as you walked in. We saw multiple mice. Had nice droppings in the kitchen. I was electrocuted by the stovetop in the kitchen. I asked management to fix any of these issues and they said they would look into it. Nothing was done. The beach was excellent but that was about it. The management sign says they leave at 5 everyday. I never saw them here after 3. I ran out of towels and toilet paper due to their lack of availability. I will never frequent this hotel again even though the location is excellent. Truly seems like the management doesn't care at all and is just there to collect a check.

Hello;

Ah yes, the review from the person who never came and never asked for towels, toilet paper, trash bags, or paper towels and ended up taking our stove apart.

I have to admit, you set a new record on that one. We asked you to make sure the burners were set correctly and let us know so we could get someone to look at it if there was a continuing problem. When we didn't hear back from you we assumed that the problem had been solved. Your response however was: NONE, other than to dismantle the stove and not tell us. We did not find out until we went to clean the room for the next arrival and had to call you to find out what you did with the parts.

As to the other issues, we do not advertise daily maid service so as to help keep our room rates competitive. Therefore the signs, both in the office and in the rooms, ask that guests exchange towels and/or linens daily between 10 am - 2 pm. Seems fairly clear to us, so it's a mystery why you didn't ASK for toilet paper. Oh wait, except for the fact that you had more than one room and your grandmother (who paid for both rooms) came down and got towels and toilet paper on a daily basis with no problem.

Thanks for the review and I hope your next experience into the realm of staying at hotels ends better for you.

Good Luck!

Michael

If you'd like a great weekend beach get-a-way. and you don't want to spend $150 and up/night for a room, the the Sun Burst is the place. Friendly people and laid back atmosphere, and to the awesome beach setting. Rooms are OK, and there is night life until 3 am close by so you don't need a taxi if you are partying to much. Enjoy the white sand, and the Gulf water. There are boat rentals on the beach if you'd like to sail or kayak.

We had a family reunion & renewal of wedding vows earlier this month & most everyone stayed here. Amy & Laurie took amazing care of all of us - 20+ family & friends. We live close to the hotel so it was a perfect place for our family to stay for the week. Rooms are nice & clean & if you need something, they will more than likely have it! Many beautiful sunsets & memories were had by all! Great for families & couples.

GF and me spent 4 great days here in June. As a Fl native living in NC for last 15 years (army) and former resident of Indian Rocks Beach (was a bartender at Crabby's in the late 80's) the place and friendliness of the staff brought back memories of Fl the way it was from my younger years, which is to be expected- the owner is a fellow ex-paratrooper. Everything was clean, GF had the time of her life, and we plan to make this a yearly thing. Be sure to visit Mahuffers across the street for a crazy time, Crabby's for some terrific seafood, and the seabird sanctuary to see some admirable conservation work. I would absolutely recommend the Sunburst to anyone coming to visit who would like a quaint, clean, professionally run place.

Room Tip: Obviously choose closer to the beach- the farther away you get from it, the closer you are to gulf...
