Last night I visited Pietro's with a number of Florida friends. We have all been to Pietro's before. However, on this visit there were a number of glaring oversights in our dinner service. These all contributed to an overall average experience rather than the 5 star fine dining experience we expected based on earlier visits.
When my salad arrived, it came with the wrong dressing. When I asked for prime rib cut plain and served with horse radish on the side, that request was ignored and the beef was covered with a greasy demi-glaze. My dinner platter had also apparently been sunbathing under a heat lamp for quite some time before being served.
There were other minor gaps as well. We called ahead for reservations and mentioned that this meal was a birthday occasion. The restaurant staff made no mention of that during the entire dinner service. Unfortunate!
A last complaint would be that the the background music was so loud that it was difficult to have a decent conversation with fellow dinner guests. Minor, but vexing.......
The restaurant was very full. However, that resulted in very slow service. We understand that because this is high season. Pietro's was very busy by the time we arrived for our 7:00PM reservation.
On the positive side, Pietro's is a beautiful, impressive restaurant property. The grounds are well landscaped and the building decor is well done. The staff are polite and up to the task if management can take a little time to retrain and focus on the smaller details that make for truely fine dining.
Pietro's will get by for now, on sheer numbers of snow birds who like the place. Nevertheless, when low season comes, their business will suffer if they don't pay attention to the details.
