“Great food”
Reviewed 14 June 2014 via mobile

I had bacon wrapped scallops.disappointed in portion..3 tiny ones. Conch fritters very tiny too..use to have bigger portions. Service was good Lauren I think..never told us her name even..saw it in check. Next time I will just get a hamburger..its a decent size. Kids meals at next table had more food!

“The crab cakes are above average”
Reviewed 3 May 2014 via mobile

We've had the crab cakes at a lot if restaurants and these are better than many because they are not filled with bread, crackers, stuffing, and other forms of cheap filler. I will agree they are pricy.

One of our group had the crab cake sandwich and loved the kettle chips. Another had the crab cake dinner and said the green beans were cooked perfectly and NOT overdone. The other liked his burger. The iced tea drinkers said the tea was not good - the server was told this but did nothing about it.

Service was OK but nothing to write home about.

“Okay Place”
Reviewed 5 March 2014

This is an adequate place for lunch, or snack. Not sure I'd come for dinner. Kirby's is a sports bar with several TV's and a couple of pool tables. The decor is a bit shabby, without the chic. There's also a small outdoor area. The food was pretty good, prices seemed reasonable, and our server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu items.

“Claims NOT Justified”
Reviewed 25 December 2013

Kirby's claims that they have the best crab cakes in all of Palm Beach County, which is saying quite a bit since there is a great deal of competition. Crab cakes are virtually de rigueur in Palm Beach County. Why? Who knows?
Kirby's claims are truly not justified. The crab cakes are meaty without a great deal of filler. BUT they are also incredibly pricey and whoever has the Old Bay seasoning concession for Kirby's must be making money hand over fist. Yes, there is a great deal of crab in the crab cake at Kirby's but virtually matched by the amount of Old Bay they use to season it.
And the price? You gotta be kidding me. For lunch, a crab cake with fries came to $17.00 before tax and tip. Compare that to Howley's where the crab cake is larger, just as meaty if not meatier and without being spiced to the max, AND the cost is $11.95.
No, Kirby's are not the best crab cakes in the county. To this point, Howely's still wins the designation, IMHO.

“Super friendly, but the crab cakes are meh”
Reviewed 15 December 2013

This place has a great sports bar vibe, with cute wait staff, TVs, and a pool table, and it seems pretty clean. You can walk 1/2 mile down Donald Ross Road to the beach. The local media-fueled competition is fierce for Best Crab Cake between Howley's on South Dixie Highway and Kirby's, but to us, there is none. In both places, they use big chunk crab, not shredded, which is great and yields that real crab goodness. Kirby's adds Old Bay seasoning, but the flavor and portion of Howley's is superior. Kirby's charges $17 for a single three-inch crab cake with fries or cole slaw or potato salad, which seems insane. Make your decision on the vibe you want. If you feel for burgers or a sports bar, this is the place. If you want seafood, try Chowderheads, which is 2.6 miles North on Route 1. If you want crab cake, sorry, it's a 1/2 hour South to Howley's
