A great and adventurous paddling trip. This river is wild so expect to dodge a few branches, push off a few trees , catch a few spider webs
It keeps it fun and exciting.
You will see alligators sunning on the edge of the river . The rivers current changes with water levels
( amount of rain) there is also a very small waterfall and rapids which you can paddle over , pretty neat for Florida. The river winds down to J Dickinson Park
You can stop over at Trapper Johns
Original homestead . Most paddlers will use a return pickup by Outfitter
As the return trip is a bit more difficult and time consuming.
Go and enjoy the True beauty of nature. awesome. thumbs up on this one
Ps watch hats , sunglasses and cameras easy to lose along the way

My family and I recently rented 3 canoes and took a trip on the Loxahatchee. Although we didn't see any gators that day, there were plenty of water birds, raptors, and fish. This was a very rexaling way to spend the afternoon. Wish I was still there!

Called ahead to see if they were open and to reserve a double kayak. Got there and the kayak was already in the water with someone waiting to help us climb in and get started on our adventure without wasting any time! Returned the kayak and again was immediately helped (even though it was busy that day) and with a smile, Can't ask for more than that. These people work hard and fast to make sure you enjoy your trip. They will definitely not be the weak link in your trip if you decide to visit Riverbend Park.

My son and I visit the Loxahatchee River once or twice a year and always used Canoe Outfitters for our rentals. For about $25 each, we each get our own kayak which we enjoy more than a shared canoe. Using a canoe together is cheaper, but the kayaks are much more fun and maneuverable in some of the tight turns of the "river". Depending on the season and recent rainfall, the river takes on different characteristics. We've been there when the river is so low that you need to walk the kayaks in some sections. Other times, the river is flowing so fast that it is near impossible to keep your lines as you move through the turns. Remember that you are going downstream to start and coming back upstream on your way back. If the water is low, not a big difference. If the water is high, then expect to spend extra time and effort returning. Either way, you will experience what Florida looked like before all the development. Most of the upper river is under the canopy so the hot sun is not beating down on you. We enjoy the wildlife along the way...turtles, birds, even an occasional gator (small ones). Take the trip to Masten Dam and cool off the old fashioned way in a swimming hole. Enjoy!

Our trip was amazing. For $57 dollars, we got the day trip with the return shuttle. The canoe was a nice, newer fiberglass model with oars. It had the seats that were molded for comfort on your bottom. The staff was great in explaining the trip, and showing us the highlights on the map. The launch crew was wonderful. The trip was great.....it was high tide and the water was up, which in most places was a benefit. The river is very curvy--at times hairpin curves---so your canoeing skills need to be good. The secenery is amazing...and if you get away from the other paddlers, the scilence is wonderful. You are really out there with nature.

Probably the highlight of our spring break trip to Flordia.
