We parked on street and walked thru all the shops and took in the scenery. Benches are available to rest your feet and do some people watching! The Visitor Center down by the harbor is on Centre St and the older gentlemen was very helpful with maps and brochures of the
area. I wanted an older version of a map and he even went in the back and found one for me...what service! There's a lot to see and do...we ran out of time! :) Later on we caught the Trolley and did the tour.

This is such a quaint little town with such great shops to go look in. They have a variety of anything and everything you can ask for. Antiques, book shops, gift shops and all kinds of great things you can find. You can just walk around and take in the beautiful scenery if you don't feel like shopping. It's right on the river so that is nice as well.

We stay in the historic district at the Fairbanks house. I just love the architecture and the history of the town. In fact, I have a pinterest page devoted to Fernandina Beach historic homes. I fill up the camera with photos of all of the beautiful buildings and homes.

Be sure to stop in at the Visitor's Center down by the harbor on Center Street and pick up the small booklet for this walking tour. It list 43 historic buildings, mostly private homes, churches and a few public buildings. We ventured out early on a weekday morning while it was still fairly cool (for August) and there were so few people up and about that we had the streets to ourselves. The booklet gives a short history of each building and lots of interesting facts. Most of these sites are fairly close together and we were able to see most of them in about an hour and a half.

This area was very nice to walk around the shops and restaurants. Every Friday during the summer there is live music. We happened to be there one night and the 2 guys playing were fantastic. It is very clean and well kept, and the people are all friendly and having a good time!!
