Our family stayed nine nights at the Hampton Inn Key Largo.
Besides the clean rooms and the tropical grounds, our stay was most pleasant due to all the employees and the ambiance that the Hampton Inn offers.
Our back sliding glass door faced the side of theTiki Bar and all the tropical garden setting.
All rooms are entered via an inner hallway.
Our patio had two chairs and a small table. If we looked to the left, we saw the bay, if we looked to the right we saw the gardens and the pool. The room looked like the pictures on the web site. The air condition was cold, and the WIFI was fine. We had a small bar sink, microwave, refrigerator with a small freezer, coffee machine with coffee, etc....
We were in Room 145.
We were greeted at checkin by Christine Gilbert, the manager, and Shanquell. We had to wait for our room as there was a late check out with the previous vacationers. We arrived around 1230, and it was before the normal check in time. It was well worth that wait.
We finally checked in with Chavone after the room was ready. She was very pleasant and professional. She oriented us to the hotel and gave us a map with the hours for the complimentary breakfast. She also handled us a bundle of tourist booklets that included several coupons and maps.
Employees wore name tags, and were visible all through the day and evening.
Every employee greeted you as you passed them in the halls or on the grounds.
We felt very safe walking around. You need your key card to enter all hallways, and the exercise room.
There are umbrella tables for shade at the poolside. There is also two bathrooms with showers by the pool. The pressure is great in those showers. Pool towels are available from the front desk. You can exchange them daily for fresh ones.
The Tiki Bar was open daily from 3p to 8p. Our friend ordered a margarita at $8.00.
There are some comfy couches under roof at the tiki bar.. Mango the parrot accompanied the bartender each day.
Beach: There is a small beach with ample comfortable lounge chairs. There is also a long sea wall for those who may want to dock their boats. The beach faces the west and offers the best sunsets each night.
We saw manatees with their babies each morning and each evening around the sea walls.
There are also several iguana's who roam the property near the tiki bar and the pool area.
Breakfast: Special thanks to Norma who is one of the attendants in the breakfast room.
The hot breakfast entrees changed each day. One day was scrambled eggs, French toast sticks, and small pizza like item on an English muffin Another day was a cheese omelet, potatoes, and bacon or sliced kielbasa .
You make your own waffles.
Items available each day: Fresh cut up fruit, bananas, apples, yogurt, assorted cereals, oatmeal, blueberry muffins, cranberry bread cake, banana bread, danish, etc.
Juices: apple, cranberry, and orange juice. Coffee or hot chocolate is available also.
Housekeeping: Special thanks to Ester, Nadia, and Daphne.
The front desk staff were most welcoming, pleasant, and professional each day of our stay.
Special thanks to Shanquel, and Mark on the morning shift, Chavone and Lucy on the afternoon shift, and we can't forget Joyce on the night shift.
Maintenance: Tony greeted us every day, and inquired about our days at the Hampton several times. He even greeted us on the way out of the parking lot on our way home. He wanted to make sure that we enjoyed our stay.
Exercise Room: air conditioned, TV, bathrooms, water, towels, several treadmills, bicycles, barbells, etc.
There are also washing machines and dryers in the side room called, "storage". The machines & dryers cost $1.00 in quarters. You can buy a small box of soap for $2 at the shop by the front desk.
Restaurants visited: Mrs Mac where locals go, Snapper on the oceanside, Tower of Pizza, Upper Crust (Pizza), Snooks on the bayside, The restaurants are within a few miles from the hotel and all offered good food.
There is also a VFW bar (Veterans of Foreign Wars ) across the street that is open to the public that offer daily menu specials.
Drug stores: CVS, Walgreens, are a few miles away. Publix (grocery store) is one mile away.
We will certainly be back next year. We wish to say that the Hampton Inn Key Largo has the best staff, and are certainly assets for the hotel...
