“Great place to stay with family and good value for the money”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

We were a party of two families of four travelling from the UK. We stayed at the Hampton Inn for six nights from 9th August to 14th. Everything about this place is easy going. The rooms were clean, comfortable and had everything you needed. We had nice quiet rooms with a garden view to the car park. The staff could not be more friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for them. The small beach with Kayaks and pontoon for boats and fishing were good for a whole day or for when you had been sightseeing. We enjoyed seeing all the different wildlife including manatees out in the bay and a dolphin who came right in to swim with us. Don and Mango the parrot kept us amused from 3pm - 8pm at the bar. Before those times and after those times we had our own drinks and a cool box! We walked to D Hookers, Hobos and the Fish House for food. All were very good. One evening we stayed by the bar and watched the sun go down and then ordered Pizza and salad which was delivered to us at the bar area and we supplied our own drink. All in all this is a lovely place to stay and if you remember that it is an Inn and NOT a beach resort then you will not be disappointed. John Pennekamp National Park is only 2 minutes down the road and a must place to visit. We hired a boat for a day to go and see the statue of Jesus under the sea.
While we were there we had a near fatal car accident and wrote our car off. The staff on reception went over and above to help us with paperwork and phone calls. Glad to say that we are all ok but we won't be using Dollar rent a car anymore as after the accident they were of no help whatsoever and told us that they had no obligation to us at all. They left us stranded with no car and no help in hospital.

Room Tip: Our room was 216 and was quiet and peaceful.

We enjoyed our stay here. The hotel receptionist were very friendly. They gave us lots of information on the best places to eat and things to do. Our hotel room was very clean and comfortable. All of the staff we encountered were friendly. After a busy day exploring the islands we came back to our room and enjoyed a beautiful sunset right off the hotels private little beach. The perfect end to our day. The laundry room was clean and inexpensive. I especially enjoyed the clean, well equipped gym. There were plenty of cardo machines, weights, tv's, cold water, clean towels, headphones, a rubber floor and mirrored wall. It was easy to workout while doing laundry. We love Key Largo Hampton.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with others. Our Housekeeping team works very hard to ensure we achieve the highest cleanliness standards for our guests. We are happy to hear you enjoyed our fitness center, the beach area during sunset and our guest laundry. Thanks again for your wonderful review and we hope to see you soon.

Sincerely,
Christina Gilbert

If this is #2 in Key Largo, thank Heavens I didn't go anywhere else. I choose this hotel based on (i) my love of the Hampton Inn chain -- always clean, consistent and reasonably priced; really a great chain and (ii) Tripadvisor, which rarely lets me down -- except this time. Yes, the staff are the only good thing about this hotel. Very friendly, excellent, but they have nothing to work with. The photos of these rooms are wildly deceiving -- they are dark, dingy and poorly kept. I will try to upload a photo of our curtain -- it looks like the milky way, but the stars are actually holes in the curtain -- we stayed in room 113. The sliding door was held by locks that would give way with the slightest pull -- disconcerting as it appeared to get that way because someone was actually trying to pull it open. The bathroom had ants (ok, we are in the Keys, I can live with that) but a shower that made no sense. I don't need a tub but how about a full curtain. It has a half glass partition that you need to go into to turn on the shower, meaning you get wet turning on the shower -- who didn't think that one through. Dingy, not Hampton Inn quality and I'm surprised it meets corporate standards. I've never stayed at a Hampton this bad. As for the beach, go on google earth and look at it from above. When you visit it, It appears to be man-made next to a canal that you wouldn't swim in for any reason. I know you don't go to Key largo to spend time in your room and we didn't, but you do want to come home at the end of a long, hot day and enjoy your room, not be depressed by it. This shook my faith in the Hampton Inn Chain. On a final note, should the local landmark be a giant, abandoned, hideous AT&T concrete tower. The whole experience was depressing.

Room Tip: Stay on Second Floor, if you have to stay here.

We stayed at the Hampton Inn for 6 nights. The hotel does get a bit crowded especially around the pool beach and breakfast area, it wouldn't be so bad if not for all the Europeans and their lack of respect towards others! The hotel staff was friendly and courteous during our stay, kudos to them all. The hotel should enforce the use of the hilton diamond member parking, I have earned my status and it seems that the parking spots get taken my non members. The hotel bar has a lot of potential, if they had longer hours and a better selection of drinks, such as frozen cocktails and live music a few nights a week or maybe a jukebox it would be a better atmosphere. The hotel does have kayaks and paddle boards for rental but with the prices you pay for the room they could offer them for free. All in all it was a good experience, our room was on the second floor closer to the water, it was quiet and clean.

Room Tip: Second floor room, away from the pool and elevators

We stayed here for two nights! The room was clean and comfortable with plenty of closet space. The staff are what make this hotel good; very helpful and responsive (especially front desk). My kids really enjoyed the pool and kayaking in the bay. The little beach area was a nice place to chill out. Breakfast was good; well stocked and good choice of items. We did have one or two blips with the shower but these were very quickly resolved to our satisfaction. Would definitely recommend and will stay at a Hampton in the future!

Check-in was just fine with a friendly and helpful welcome. The location is good with a good size parking lot. The pool was great with the option for the beach area if you preferred. Tea, coffee and hot water available all day in the lobby. Good size room with a wet bar area and a microwave and fridge. Unfortunately no utensils such as a cork screw and no wine or other glasses just disposable cups. No room safe and wifi free for first 24 hours. Breakfast was good with a nice range of food. Again disposable cups with the added feature of disposable plates and cutlery. Pete at the pool bar was an added bonus to the stay and very entertaining.

Reading others comments I must have been missing something. Yes, the front desk staff were helpful and friendly but the facilities of the hotel were definitely lacking, the bar on by the pool opened at 3pm and closed at 8pm!! The seating in the breakfast room are dirty and stained. Overall staff very helpful and friendly but the hotel certainly needs a bit of a facelift.
