“If needs must - this is a good hotel in Key Largo”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2011

Ive stayed in 2 Holiday Inns before and this one is by far the best.
the breakfast is good value and standard. The rooms were spotless (so much so that the carpet was wet from cleaning), the service was excellent and the pool / jacuzzi looked great (didnt use it though). Very nice place indeed.

Slight negative was there was no lift near our room which meant we had to carry heavy bags up steps and with no one to help.

We paid about $150 for a night but think thats largely due to the New Year peak season. Assuming its cheaper at less busy times which makes sense.

Only shame is I think Key Largo is a bit of a dive (no pun intended). Other than diving that is, there's nothing there. We used it to stop over before driving from Miami / Everglades to Key West. For this purpose it was perfect.

We stayed here for 2 nights on our way down to Key West. The Lower Keys are a lot nicer than Key Largo, so I would recommend staying down there if you have the option.
We had a twin room which overlooked the car park, i would recommend getting a room overlooking to pool, as the carpark (and highway in the background) was quite noisy.
The Tiki Bar was great, and the pool lovely and refreshing. But not much around, as you're basically on the side of the highway. Breakfast isn't included in the hotel price, and the "all you can eat buffet" was pretty poor - find a cute cafe instead!
Overall, it was an average place, clean rooms, comfy beds, but nothing special. Parking is free, which is great though.

We chose this motel for its convenience to dive boats and centers. It's right on one of the main docks. Room was clean and had a fridge, otherwise very basic. Air-conditioning was noisy, as were some of the other guests, so it was not as restful as it might have been.

We did try the in-house Bogie's Cafe for breakfast, but were disappointed both on price and food quality. Much better food and value can be had right across the busy US1 road at Doc's Diner.

As others have noted, the two swimming pools, hot-tub and bar complex at the centre are good features. Several of the dive-schools use the main pool for their training.

During a two-week tour of the south half of Florida, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Key Largo for one night. On the up side, the hotel includes free parking and is next to a waterway leading out to the reef. But, that's where the perks end. Our room was really 'beat'. The beds were saggy, the bathroom was old, the coffee table had a busted leg and had literally fallen over when we entered the room. The hotel's grounds look pretty well used, too. There are no in-room lock boxes. We ate at the on-site Coconuts restaurant/bar. The staff was very nice and drinks good, but the food was very average. Overall, this was not so much a negative experience, but for the price, one can probably do better if booking early.

Stopped for just one night in order to break our journey from Naples.Fl. to Key West. Very easy to find on on Northbound side of Highway #1. Room was very good and the buffet breakfast more than met our expectations. Hotel is situated adjacent to the marina so very pleasant for a stroll any time of day. The original African Queen boat (as per the film with Bogart and Hepburn) is berthed here. Limited cafe's in this area but the one belonging to the hotel is adequate if just a little bit basic. Hotel pool is excellent and great for chilling out by. Just fifty yards South from the hotel (and on the same side of the highway) is a Walgreens Supermarket and Pharmacy which is great for any essential items needed. A hundred yards southbound on the otherside is a great Italian Restaurant and behind that the Bayside restaurant and bar with live music.

I only stayed for one night on my way from Miami to Key West. However, I could easily stay longer if I had more time.

The bathroom was very clean. The room is slightly dated, but has a flatscreen TV and a comfortable bed. The AC is very noisy, but since the room was ice cold on my arrival I turned it off. I'm a light sleeper, but had no issues with sleeping through the night (room 159).

There is business center by the reception with free use of computers for guests.

The pool area is nice and is rather spacious and makes this property value for money.

You can never go wrong with a Holiday Inn. This one had beautiful landscaping, two pools and access to a nice harbor walk. Walking distance to many amenities. To my surprise, the on site restaurant "Bogies Cafe" was very good! Overall the staff was friendly and the experience was very pleasant. I would stay there again.
