“Service is on the way down...”

This review is overdue. We visited this hotel in November, but because we had been there only a month or so prior, I had to wait to add this new one.
Key Largo Marriott Beach Resort used to be one of our favorites--not so much any more.

On the plus side:
-the grounds are kept immaculately, and the mattresses are super comfortable, with lots of pillows.
-As platinum elite members, we get free wifi, one free breakfast each, and a choice of a $10 credit toward food/drink or points.
-Adam and Lena at Breezer's are still great bartenders, and Barbara at breakfast is super.
-we found out that Stefan, the rude bartender at the pool bar, is finally gone.

On the minus side:
-the wifi doesn't work at the pool/beach
-at the front desk, Zully gave no welcoming smile, no welcome back (we had just been here a month ago! I don't expect them to remember, but it's in our records.)
-We were given only 1 pool towel card instead of two--previously, on our MANY stays here, we always got two, for two towels per person. What's going on? And no towels at the pool in the morning until someone complained.
-Pool bathroom still has unpleasant odor and feels unclean.
-Apparently no one from the hotel management has been monitoring these reviews, since there are no responses. UPDATE--it looks like maybe he/she has started, since I finally see some responses. Hallelujah! This is a franchise-maybe that's the difference. Miami Airport Marriott has terrific service attitude. Everyone greets you and treats you like a special guest and an old friend, and their general manager, David, responds to all comments on trip advisor. Not here.
- Another item of note-you don't get receipts for meals, so you definitely have to check your bill...we even took a picture of our breakfast bill this time with the voucher for a free breakfast for two, since last time we were here, they charged us for it, and when we brought it to their attention at checkout, the person at the front desk treated us like we were trying to cheat them. Sadly, we have lost trust.

We are thinking about coming back to Key Largo within the next few months and are reconsidering where to stay. Perhaps a response from the management might make all the difference.

Room Tip: Our best room ever was room 401--quiet and with a wonderful view.

First time for me in Key Largo, but my boyfriend has been here before. We were both very happy with the hotel, beautiful private beach and good pool area. Staff was very friendly and the restaurant was better than we expected.

Room Tip: Balcony overlooking water was incredible.

We celebrated our 20 year anniversary in key largo last week. The resort manager sent us a bottle of champagne that was in our room after spending the day at the pool. What a nice surprise and a kind gesture, it's the little things like that- that will keep me coming back. We have stayed there before and I promise we will be back again!!

The sunsets are beautiful, be sure to book a bayside view room. It's worth the money.

My step daughter is getting married next month and was in the process of searching for Her honeymoon destination. Based on all the pictures we were sending her during the week, she ended up booking there- while we were there. She won't be sorry.

Sam was very helpful in assisting her plan her trip- thanks Sam for putting a smile on her face. :)

This is our second stay here & I'm sure we'll be back. We only stayed one night & unfortunately it was cold and windy. We were still able to spend some time outside since they had a fire pit next to the tiki bar. We soon went to restaurant for a great meal then on to the indoor bar for night caps. Great atmosphere along with fun music. A great way to set the tone for our Keys vacation.

The view was nice and it was a convenient stop over as we traveled from Miami to Key West. But what really made our stay here great was the staff. Chantel at the front desk was so sweet and helpful with tips on restaurants. Because we traveled in honor of my birthday, the staff surprised us with a bottle of Prosecco in our room!

The wait staff in the hotel restaurant was wonderful as well. I can't remember her name, but there was a woman with extremely long hair and she was so friendly and made us feel right at home during breakfast.

Front desk staff unfriendly and even if you requested a king size bed for your silver anniversary. Forget it! They only have three though there was no mention when I made my reservation. Told us there were no other options though there are vacancies. Room ok. No changes or improvements in the past 2 years. Room has overpowering air freshener smell. Makes me wonder what they are hiding. Third hotel we have stayed in during our keys visit this time. Others were less and nicer.

Wifi is the worst I have ever encountered. It's hard to get in and slow.

Good location, easy to find, spacious rooms, great massage by the sea (treatments are knockout), pool is superb, pool bar is good and fast, lots of sun loungers both beach and pool, beach is ok and you can swim out to a pontoon, kayaks available to explore the surrounding coastline, wifi functional albeit slower than usual hotel speeds, all in all nothing bad but nothing spectacular.
We stayed 1 day/night on our way to Key West and would do so again, only weird thing was the height of the beds but this isn't a major issue
