“Classic Keys Resort”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 May 2014

My girlfriend and I live in Ft Lauderdale and wanted to zip down to the keys for a night and do some diving. Amoray is located close to Pennekamp and many restaurants etc.
The lounge area and pool is on the bay side with the attendant amazing sunsets- a perfect spot to enjoy a beverage after a day on the reef.
The rooms are not fancy but they are clean and the beds are comfortable- if you want a large flatscreen TV and stylish furniture this is probably not the place for you. But you shouldnt be in your room except to sleep anyway!
The staff is friendly and helpful and they have daily dive trips from their back yard - very convenient to walk down instead of driving somewhere else and back after diving.

A great value.

We are so glad to hear you took advantage of the convenience of staying and diving at Amoray. We hope you enjoyed the reefs in Pennekamp State Park; they are a must see. The pool is a great place to relax and enjoy a world class sunset over the bay. We look forward to seeing you again!

My girlfriend and I stayed here in September 2013 for almost a week and absolutely loved it. We were in room 12H overlooking the water and right by the pool and dock. Talk about conveinent! Literally steps to the boat to go diving, steps to the pool and a few more to the sun chairs to just chill out and look at the boats going by.
Morning coffee is put out by 8:30-9:00. A little later than i would like but there is a coffee pot in the room if you can't wait. The huge hammock hanging in the enclosed porch was awesome to hang out in. We had breakfast each morning on the enclosed porch and all was pretty quiet in the morning. There are charcoal grills available also if you want to cook some burgers or steaks. From there we strolled over to the boat to dive each day and Travis and Capt. Carl were very nice and accomodating. Capt. Carl even let Kristine drive the boat a bit and let us borrow his underwater camera. Nick gave us a refresher course since it had been a while since we had last been out and even came with us on our first dive out. Staff was very accomodating, pleasant and friendly. We really felt welcome at this dive resort and all the divers were laid back and friendly.
The room is not for the snobby - this is a dive resort, not the Hilton. The room was clean, housekeeping came each day and picked up after us giving new towels when needed, etc. Everything you need is there and honestly I don't even think we ever turned the TV on. The only thing I wished we had was a sofa to sit on and chat at night instead of chatting from our bed and trundle bed to each other. Met some great people while at Amoray and keep in touch with them via FB. We will be back.

Room Tip: Room 12H or 11H will give you the most amazing sunrise/sunset. The open porch with the view is to d...

We booked last minute thru Kayak on the same day. The property is on the Gulf side
, so you get a really nice Sunset view. The rooms are really basic but ours was neat and clean. We really just needed a place to sleep for the night, but we were pleasantly surprised by how nice the waterfront area of the property was. And since the dive boat leaves from the property every morning, if you're a scuba diver, this is a very convenient place to stay. The dive shop is on property of course. Everything you need if you're scuba diving is right there.

We are glad you decided to include us on your vacation. Next time, when you have more time, we would love it if you came out diving or snorkeling on our dive boat, the Amoray Diver. We also offer sunset cruises with a chilled bottle of champagne so you can enjoy our world famous sunset out on the water. We hope to see you again in the future!

First I'll say I'm not a diver - I chose this location because I was in Key Largo for a special event and the price was right. The atmosphere is laid-back and casual. Front office staff was friendly and the room was clean. As other reviewers have said, the walls are extremely thin but luckily I had considerate neighbors. As with most reasonably priced properties in the Keys it's a bit "rustic" but that's what I love about it down there. The best part about this place is the proximity to Caribbean Club, which is a great, fun bar and the filming location of the classic movie "Key Largo". I would stay here again and wouldn't hesitate to recommend to someone who doesn't need to stay in a 5-star resort. I would give it a 3.5 if that was an option.

Thank you for taking the time to review Amoray Dive Resort. We are glad to hear you enjoyed our close proximity to many restaurants/bars. Next time you are here, maybe we could interest you in an Open Water Scuba course so you can enjoy our diving amenities!

I spent 4-nights at the Amoray Dive Resort in April of 2014. This is a no-frills, basic Florida Keys lodging experience. I can't say the property was a "value", even with a 10% discount off standard rates as part of a group package. The staff was friendly and efficient. The rooms, (at least in the South building), are somewhat dated and the furnishings have definitely seen better years. I felt the mattress was comfortable and the bed linens were clean and in good condition. The bathroom floor tile was showing years of use and while I felt it was probably as clean as it could be under the circumstances, it could definitely use replacing. The grounds have the potential to be very pretty, but the property could use a full-time gardener to bring out the full tropical oasis feeling. There were small pieces of trash lying around in various places throughout the grounds, especially by the pool. I liked the chemical-free pool, but the pool furniture, while functional, was definitely well worn. This was just a very average property. The rooms close to the main road are going to be noisy due to the never ending traffic on Route 1. I wanted to leave my windows open, but with no screens to keep out insects and lizards, and the constant traffic noise, this simply wasn't an option. If traffic noise bothers you, be sure to request a room as far from the road as possible. One nice feature of the upstairs rooms in the South building is that they have vaulted ceilings that make the room feel much bigger than it is. The only added "amenity" is a large pot of coffee that is placed down by the dock area each morning. No continental breakfast is offered. If I were going to return to Key Largo, I would definitely explore other lodging options and perhaps look for a property with more updated facilities/rooms before returning to Amoray. If you set your expectations on "average", then you will not be disappointed with this property.

Room Tip: I would not recommend the pool-side rooms, (unless you don't mind your windows being 2' from...

Great little place with affordable prices for the key largo area. .. nice and quiet. The sunset view is priceless. . Front Office staff was c very friendly. . The only negative side is that the walls are thin so if you have people next door you can hear them
