Mariner's Resort Villas & Marina
Ranked #17 of 20 Hotels in Key Largo

The resort has ample amenities such as the two pools and hot tub area. We stayed in room 122, a villa overlooking the marina. The room was spectacular. Complete with a full kitchen with stainless appliances, two and a half baths, a wonderful separate tub and shower in the master, great balcony, huge flat screen tv in living room. Just a wonderful villa as far as the appearance goes. A lot of space and very open. We got the villa for the half price rate and it was more than worth that. Now for the bad. Our villa had a leaking air conditioner system and even though we called maintenance twice about the problem, all they did was stuff towels under the unit in the closet. The washing machine in this unit does'nt work either. It gets stuck at the final rinse cycle and you will find yourself ringing out your laundry by hand. The only other problem with the villa was the family staying/living in room 132, right above us. They had small children that really loved to run, a lot. And slide chairs across the floor, a lot. And they did this from around 7 every morning til about 11 every night. I cannot overstate the amount of noise that family made. however, it did not ruin our stay and if we were to return to the Keys, we would stay at the same place again.

My husband and I were married at the Resort in May 2009. This resort is gated. We were welcomed with friendly faces. The gate keepers are friendly as well. It was late when we arrived and we were not delayed a bit getting into our room, which come to find out when we arrived that we had been upgraded to a 2BR Townhouse Villas overlooking the ocean. Could not have asked for a better room or view. Fantastic! The room was breathtaking. We would definately recommend staying in an oceanview villa. The Resort is within just a few miles to everything (eating, fishing, groceries, shopping etc.) The wedding coordinator of the Mariner's was David Shine, he took care of every need from officiate to wedding cake. So, if you are needing to coordiante a wedding etc. please ask for him. You will not be disappointed. The room had everything you could possibly need. Very clean and welcoming. We actually made our breakfast there and enjoyed the sunrise every morning!!!! Our stay was definitely a memorable one......

This looks like a new resort with tastefully furnished suites, nicely landscaped property, strict security, and marina. The only drawback is that it is not on the bay side where you can see the most beutiful sunset (the bay side is the better side in Key Largo). And the oceanview that we had from our suite was very partial. The checkin was smooth, but the lady was not very friendly.

We stayed here for a couple of nights to get a flavour of the keys en-route to our main stay in Orlando. Only 1.5hrs from Miami International so quite handy place to explore the keys from.

Our 2 bedroom apartment was very well spec'd and equiv to a 5* hotel. Could not fault it at all, although no views of the sea.

Its a shame there is no restaurant - can it really be a "resort" without one? This means you have to go hunting for places to eat. If you were staying any length of time I think you could get quite bored with the local places.

In summary its a great getaway (too quiet for many) and we found it useful to have a couple of quiet days to adjust the old body-clocks before the onslaught of Orlando parks!!!!!

Dear Guest,
Thank you for staying with us at Mariner’s Resort and we are glad you enjoyed your Townhome. We offer both Hammock View (the tropical hammock/forest/trees) and Water View (the Atlantic Ocean) accommodations, so please inquire about booking water view the next time you stay with us.

We do have a resort restaurant called the Mandalay – directly on the ocean and serving amazing food. It is on the resort property and right outside the security gate. A guest passes thru the gate, and uses their room key to enter the gate again. From the farthest building away, it is at most a 5 minute walk thru the gated resort grounds to reach the Mandalay. In addition to the Mandalay Restaurant, we also provide guests with a list of area restaurants, public beaches, and attractions; with over 30 restaurants listed.

We hope you return to Key Largo and Mariner’s Resort, and if we can assist you in the future, please ring….

My husband and I stayed in a Villa #113 overlooking the yacht harbor in late April 2009.
This 2 BR / 3 BA villa was very well appointed with marble floors, granite kitchen, great bathrooms, very roomy living and dining areas. Our room also had a nice table and chairs on the deck for outdoor dining. The water side glass sliding doors of our room all slid open for an open air feel in the room. Our room also had a big screen and music piped throughout the unit. There was even a washer and dryer in the unit. This room was one of the nicest we had stayed in and larger than our house back home.
The property is quiet with 2 pools, 2 hot tubs, great yachts to drool over and lots of room to roam and walk around. The pier at the end of the dock has the best sunrises! (worth waking up early and little breezy but fantastic)

This resort is a combo condo/townhome property with some rooms available for rental, some owner occupied. If you are looking for a full service hotel with daily maid service, this is not the place. If you like being independent, having the ability to make your own coffee and some meals in your room or BBQ, this property is great.

The location is great if you want to be in the upper Keys and have the flexibility to visit the Everglades, various Keys islands and a day trip to Key West.

We would highly recommend this resort if you are looking for a great place for a long weekend! It's quiet, peaceful and helped us relax from our hectic life.

My husband signed up for the MS 150 miles bike ride from Miami to Key Largo. This hotel was listed on the MS bike ride's website as a preferred hotel. Its not a hotel but individually owned units. We arrived around 130 pm and was told that our room would not be ready until 4pm. I asked the lady if any thing could be done as my husband bike 75 miles from Miami and is tired and would like to take a shower. She very rudely replied that check in is at 4pm and that was it.

Other people were able to get their rooms but our room was not avaible until after 3pm. If this hotel is one of the preferred hotels for this race, I wondered why they could not appoint more staff to get the rooms ready for 1 pm since they know riders from the race would be staying there and coming in around that time.

I was not the only person that complained. The three ladies working there are not very friendly and not at all helpful.

As for the room, it was ok. I stayed in a one bedroom townhome. The bathtub did not drain properly, the bed was not very comfortable, it creaked with every turn I made. There were blowed light blubs. I am a very easy going traveler but i thought for the costs it was disappointing.

My girlfriend and I booked 10 days at the Mariners for her 30th birthday after an aborted holiday booking to Thailand due to civil riots… but that’s another story. We go by the reviews of the travellers a lot on Tripadvisor which is largely why we ended up at the Mariners.

Firstly the grounds around the accommodation are really beautiful, the two pools are fantastic the business center with free access to the internet is great. The fitness center is well equipped and the Mariner and small lookout pier are both really nice features.

The whole place is marketed as a ‘resort’ but its not really. There is no real on site restaurant facilities or bar so really it’s more like self-catering plus amenities. The Mandolin restaurant next door is accessible via a gate from the mariner, but this was locked the first night we went, meaning we had to walk along the road, which we felt was a little dangerous (especially if you have small children). The restaurant is OK, some of the staff were a bit rude, the food is a bit hit and miss to be honest, but the atmosphere was good and there was live music.

Our condo/apartment was part of a three story town house and our 1 bed apartment was on the ground floor. The top two floors were self contained and there was a family staying above. The entrances to the two apartments were next to each other and there was an adjoining door internally so that our apartments could be combined into one larger apartment (hope that makes sense!).

Anyway, we were really pleased upon entering our apartment. It was well appointed, nice big bathroom with shower over bath. Kitchen with hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dinning area, large lounge with TV and very large bedroom with TV. The whole place was reasonably clean and tidy with nice big windows in the bedroom, unfortunately the balcony outside the bedroom was unusable as there was no furniture, it was too small and next to the air con units… not that it mattered with the great swimming pool!

This is where things went down hill on our stay. We were there for 10days and not once was our apartment serviced. We had our own towels anyway so it wasn’t so much of a problem, just a bit much considering how much it cost us to stay there. We would have expected for our bathroom to be cleaned and a change of bed linen at least!!

Secondly, the noise from the family was unbelievable. They had a ‘hangbag’ pouch that seems so popular in Florida and the thing barked at every opportunity (I am sure that pets are not allowed?). The family would go out some evenings and leave it whining and barking at their door, which was right next to our adjoining door…. So basically it was like having it in our lounge.

You could hear every single foot fall from upstairs to the point that I was convinced the whole family must have been wearing clogs. Most days at 6am they would start to play shuffleboard with the furniture, grinding their chairs across the floors all the time dancing around in their clogs on the staircase and floors. This went on sometimes until 1am in the morning. It got to the point where we would turn the TV up to drown them out or move into the bedroom for some peace.

We would have asked to be moved but at the start of the week they were very quiet and they just seemed to increase in volume during our stay to the point where we couldn’t be hassled with moving.

The final thing to mention was our bed was so soft that it gave both me and my girlfriend back ache and it was so rickety and creaky that whenever I even breathed it would creak and wake my girlfriend up.

Maybe we were just unlucky with our apartment, I would honestly say that by the end of the week we felt a bit cheated considering the overall cost. If the place wasn’t so noisy then I would have marked the it a lot higher.
