“Heaven in Key Largo”

We stayed in six hotels on our recent Florida Keys vacation and this one is one of the best. The hotel facilities are top notch and the beach setting and outdoor layout is wonderful. I was amazed that the hotel was less expensive than some other less pleasant hotels. This is a first rate family operation which provides outstanding service.

We loved Azul del Mar. Everything about it was peaceful, relaxing and beautiful. We stayed in "Celeste". The view from our room was gorgeous. The room itself was spacious and clean. We really enjoyed the private beach area. It's the perfect place to enjoy a glass of wine and watch the sunset. We also appreciated the hammocks and dock area. We spotted fish, crabs and starfish in the waters around the dock.
They also provide water hose, wetsuit hangars and a spot to let your suits hang dry. There is a washer and dryer on premises that can be used for $5 a load. We look forward to staying here again and again!

With only 6 rooms (couples only) Azul del Mar is a lovely quiet spot just off the highway to Key West. The comfortable rooms have some lovely original art deco details; bathroom is spacious and pretty. There is a small private beach and dock. No breakfast; the rooms have a kitchenette and reception offers an area map with recommendations.

First, I have to say that we BID on Priceline and acquired this "ADULT ONLY" resort. The only problem is we were coming with our non-adult offspring. FYI, when bidding on a hotel, picking an adult only or a family friendly hotel, is never an option. I called the resort after reading this information on the hotel's website. After explaining how I bid and acquired this hotel on Priceline, Dominic gave us the "go signal" to come.

Dominic and Carol were hospitable. We did try to keep our minor out of site from other guests to respect the resort's adult only policy. It was not hard to do as the resort did not have a pool and the small property beach was not ideal for swimming. Instead, we made the Atlantic Ocean our playground.

On our short weekend here, we were able to do a snorkeling trip at John Pennekamp State Park. It is easily one of the best snorkeling trip we've had in a day (We've snorkeled many places). We also went fishing with Sailor's Choice and had a fantastic family fishing day.

Check out at Azul is 11. Our fishing trip was over 1:30. We went back to the resort to use their outdoor shower. Dominic, the owner, gave us the boathouse to shower. Because of this, we didn't have to drive over 4 hours home in fish stench!!!

Azul Del Mar is a small, all-suite cozy property. Please see pictures posted. Given the chance to come here with my significant other, I would come back again and again!!! This location is superb. We saw the most beautiful sunset off this property upon arrival. Pennekamp and fishing charters are within 3-5 miles away. Dominic and Carol have the utmost understanding and execution on what costumer service really is.

Booked Azul following reviews on TA and was not dissapointed.

Azul is tucked away in a secluded spot directly off the Overseas Highway, but is quiet and free from road noise as the hotel is set back behind a car park and tropical garden. We arrived in the evening and it is fair to say the hotel is probably easier to find in the dark due to the blue lights welcoming you in the drive.

We stayed in a ground floor garden suite which was spacious and well appointed. It had a huge corner jacuzzi bath and comfortable seating area. No problems at all with the accomodation.

The Azul has it's own tiny picturesque beach and dock, which looks lovely in front of the Keys sunset. Whilst staying there were lightning storms over the Everglades which looked stunning with this backdrop.

Azul is also nicely located for ammenities. We particularly enjoyed the Big Chill down the road for evening dinner. If you want an authentic Key Largo breakfast experience then try Hideout just down the road.

All in all,Azul is well deserving of it's reputation on TA.

Room Tip: The garden rooms are quiet, contrary to some of the speculation on other reviews

We spent the week driving up and down the Keys and wanted to find a spot around Key Largo to finish our trip. We found Azul using TA and thought we'd give it a nights try. Immediately upon checking in we asked to stay another night. Definite return planned. We loved the view and quiet this resort offered. The room was modern, clean and well furnished. We chartered a kayak trip through the front desk and had a fantastic time going into Everglades NP. We saw small sharks in their environment. Again we will definitely return. This resort is reserved for adults only no kids

Stayed at the Azul del Mar for 5 nights in May and had a fabulous time. We stayed in the Orchidea room which looks out over the garden and the sea. The whole property is really quiet and secluded, with access to the sea from a small beach area and its own dock. An added bonus is that it is on the bayside, as while we were there the weather was really windy and the bayside is quite sheltered.

Almost every day we returned to the hotel and sat on the deck chairs under one of the tiki huts with a glass of wine and watched the sunset - so romantic! Its an adult only hotel and there are only about 6 suites so it really is very quiet.

Our room/suite was perfect - kitted out with a small kitchenette (fridge, sink, microwave etc) and there is a small living room area with a sofa and TV. Lovely and modern and clean. On site there are also BBQ's if you fancy cooking for yourself.

In terms of whats nearby, the information/visitor centre is just up the road, and the John Pennecamp reserve is opposite, where you can take boat trips and kayaks. Be prepared to drive out for pretty much everything - this is the case throughout the keys apart from Key West.

We had a fantastic time and Key Largo and we would 100% stay at the Azul del Mar if we returned.
