Ice Cold air conditioning, large spacious rooms, great waterfront area to relax in. Friendly service, just an overall great experience, I would stay there again, and we are from Fort Lauderdale but like to venture into the keys every now and then.

This little resort reminds you of stepping back in time in old Florida. It is an older resort but that doesn't matter; it is clean clean clean! The staff is very friendly and welcoming and you can relax in your room, in a hammock under palm trees or on the small beach looking at the water. We stayed two nights with a child and loved having a small kitchen with full size refrigerator and separate living room so we didn't have to tiptoe around when the little one went to bed early. Would highly recommend and definitely visit again. There are restaurants and a grocery store close by.

Friends told us about the Rock Reef years ago and we've been enjoying this little slice of heaven every year - sometimes twice a year - ever since. Its sand beach (a rare thing in the Keys) is a big plus for sailing our catamaran and we always bring our bikes for long rides on the paved path just across the street.
We especially like that the Rock Reef, with all its modern amenities, still has an old Florida feel: little cottages nestled amid beautiful shade trees and tropical flowers, tiki huts, picnic tables and outdoor grills, a boat ramp, swaying hammocks, and room for kids to roam. Owners Dave and Linda are like family to us, their staff helpful and friendly, and we've made quite a few friendships with other visitors as we gathered along the waterfront dock to watch stunning sunsets and then the night sky fill with stars.
Good food (Ballyhoos next door) and a good night's sleep (really comfortable beds) round out the Rock Reef experience for a perfect Keys vacation.
Thanks Rock Reef!

Nothing is perfect, right? If you think it can get better than a gorgeous room, meticulously cleaned, phenomenal customer service, super quiet, private fridge and microwave, on the water with a private beach, jacuzzi, beautiful tropical atmosphere with iguanas running amuck and to top it off, management is willing to give special deals on the spot for longer stays, which we all know equates to more money for vacation! If you think it can get better than that, then this resort will fall just shy of perfect for you... but it was absolutely perfect for my fiancé and I! We will be visiting this resort again on our next Keys vacation, and more than likely will stay here every night instead of jumping around.

We were in for a huge surprise with this quiet little spot. Never did we expect to find such tranquility and beauty here. After traveling by motorcycle 1300 miles, we were greeted by IGUANAS!! Free roaming, all shades and sizes, and not a bit intimidated by our presence. within our first 24 hours we had a certain stingray swim beneath our feet as we were sitting at the dock, followed by a sand shark! WELCOME TO PARADISE? a couple days later we had the pleasure of seeing a manatee in the bay, just awesome!! As for the lodge and staff, very clean, private and comfortable. yes the staff too!!! Everyone left you alone and it was if we there alone, on our own private island. Just amazing!!! I cannot say enough good things about this little slice of heaven and its owners! If you have the chance, I highly reccomend you try this cove out!!! We will definitely be back!!!!

The Rock Reef Resort, nestled among a canopy of trees, is full of charm and perfect for relaxation. The rooms were extremely clean and the staff could not have been more helpful! The beach area is perfect for swimming, light fishing and water sports. We thoroughly enjoyed our time at this hidden gem and cannot wait to return!

Rooms were comfortable and very clean. Could use updating if that's important to you. Out back was the most amazing view with private sandy beach. Nice lounge chairs, shade, and place to fish. A wide variety of types of rooms depending on your needs. Close to eats and local history. Great for couples or families. No pool could be only negative. Plenty of shade though with picnic tables and hammocks.

Room Tip: Some rooms have kitchenettes.
