We held our small company sales meeting here this week, and there are many great things to say about Dove Creek.

The staff is very accommodating and friendly, with lots of good information on things to do in the area. Very nice people on the whole, though the afternoon front desk manager was not a ray of sunshine.

Breakfast at the hotel was included, but fairly basic with some cereal, bagels, etc. A typical continental breakfast on par with most hotels and nothing to write home about. Always fresh hot coffee, which was a nice touch, and the staff was very quick to replenish anything so it was always full and available.

The rooms were very nice (only 19 on this property), with nice flatscreen TV's and comfortable king sized beds. The housekeeping staff did an exceptional job in straightening and cleaning the rooms quickly and thoroughly. We were very pleased with the cleanliness.

The grounds are quite small, but there's a nice sand area with a gazebo, two hammocks, and plenty of seating around the clean, warm pool. No complaints here at all, we were very pleased.

The restaurant that shares a parking lot, Snappers, had excellent food at a reasonable price (considering you're in the keys). Mahi, grouper, hag fish sandwiches are awesome, as are the fish tacos. We did lunch several times here to save time, and dinner twice due to the convenience and the quality.

Free use of kayaks, paddle boats, and a water trike on a come-and-go-as-you-please basis was fun for my wife and I one day.

In short, if you like a chain hotel with tons of staff and huge grounds that are loud and crowded, avoid this place. If you want a small, privately owned and quiet little quaint hotel with a beautiful view of the sunrise that has all the amenities in the world, this is a great place. You won't be disappointed in any way here.

Room Tip: Anything 4th floor will give you a best view of the sunrise (we were in 403)

The staff was great. They where a friendly resource during our stay and really made us feel at home. The rooms are very large and clean. The rooms where also very quiet which made for perfect sleeping conditions. There is a restaurant next door. This was a really convenient option to grab a bite or drink. The waterfront hammocks and lounge chairs were great. The weather was not the greatest during our stay therefore we did not get to enjoy the hotel's kayaks and water activities. We hope to go back soon with better weather to fully enjoy all this hotel has to offer.

We recently stayed at Dove Creek Lodge for a last-minute overnight escape. We live nearby about a two hours north in Florida and just needed a romantic weekend getaway--and that's exactly what we got. Annie greeted us upon arrival and was very friendly in helping us check-in which was a breeze. She escorted us to our oceanview queen room which was cozy, clean and faced the water through a lush canopy of trees. We asked for two wine glasses and she immediately brought them to us. The bed was extremely comfortable, and the balcony was perfect for enjoying a couple of glasses of wine before we headed out to dinner. Our room was toward the end so it was also very quiet which we sought. A light breakfast of bagels, cereal, yogurt and their homemade key lime cheesecake is complimentary and can be enjoyed on the oceanview terrace--and they have a Keurig coffee maker! The well-maintained grounds are beautiful with hammocks, smooth stones, sand and natural landscape. It's the morning sunrise, though, that can't be beat. Heading down and watching from Dove Creek's docks was heavenly. This was our first time here but will definitely not be our last!

Room Tip: Definitely book an oceanview room - the queen rooms have a large terrace.

We stayed for three nights with our family of four over the New Years holiday, and we found this to be a nice place, with a pleasant view of a small harbor and nearby restaurant/bar (Snapper's). It was a bit cramped with the sofa bed out, but we knew this going in; a bigger room with a place to sit and eat would have been nice, and lighting was generally poor throughout the room. Breakfast was great, and the pool was also nice. We enjoyed using the water trike and sea kayaks, as the water was unusually warm for January. The staff was helpful in recommending restaurants and a fishing guide for me and my daughters, who had never done saltwater fishing before (Capt. Mike was great).

We checked in and found a clean comfortable room, it is not the Four Seasons, but rather is exactly what we expected. It is easy to find, comfortable and convenient. It was perfect for our dive trip. We would certainly return

Liked the screened in porches.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without a staircase in front of your screened in porch.
