“Nice and clean hotel!”
Reviewed 20 June 2014

We stayed here this last week for 4 nights on our first trip to the Keys (we have recently moved to Florida). The hotel is very clean and the staff are friendly and helpful. The hotel grounds are nice, they have hammocks and a chair type swing. We chose a king balcony room(balcony could barely fit the 2 chairs and table) that had a view of the marina and the bar at Snappers. Since Snappers is right next door to the hotel we were able to listen to the live music every night.
The only reason I did not give 5 stars is no fault of the hotel. When we arrived and opened up the balcony door there was decaying seaweed up against the dock right in front of our room and it smelled horrible, like rotten eggs! However, it rained the next 2 days and the smell wasn't noticeable after that.

Room Tip: The room next to us was a queen balcony and their balcony was a LOT bigger than the king balcony. S...

We stayed here on our honeymoon. The upgraded our room for no charge. The room was clean and very nice. We took advantage of the kayak the pool hot tub and the hammock. It was so nice on our way back from key largo we stopped back by and ate at snappers and rented a pontoon next store. This was one of our favorite places in the keys. Highly recommend it.

We just stayed here one night on our recent Keys vacation and so glad Tripadvisor reviewers sent us in this direction! We opted for a balcony king and had a fabulous marina water view. Very clean, comfy bed, and grounds are both beautiful and well maintained. Had a great meal and fun at the bar at Snappers which is right next door.

Room Tip: The balcony is worth the extra $.

My husband and I stayed at Dove Creek Lodge with another couple for 4 nights over Memorial Day weekend. It was a fabulous stay from start to finish. The property only has 19 rooms so it has a more cottage like feel (to me). We stayed in room 306 which had a small living room and separate bedroom with a view of the pool and water from the screened in front patio. The complimentary shampoo, conditioner, and body wash is all Tommy Bahama so our room smelled delicious the entire time.

On property you can rent glass bottom kayaks, paddle boards, and pontoon boats among other things. We rented the glass bottom kayaks and followed a beautiful path through the mangrove. We also rented a pontoon boat for half a day and took it out to Molasses Reef where we saw some beautiful fish and coral. There are hammocks, adirondak chairs, and a lovely pool on the property.

Every morning, there is a light breakfast in the lobby / reception area with hard boiled eggs, bagels, fruit, yogurt, coffee and juice. Right next door is a restaurant called Snappers..... which we had lunch at every single day. The food is fresh and delicious and the waiters are all fabulous. I'm not kidding.... we ate here every day.

We've decided to make this an annual destination. It's so easy to get to from DC. We flew into Miami and rented a car. The drive took a little over an hour. Rent a convertible if you can. Enjoy!!

My wife and I stayed here three nights in late May/early June. The hotel is nicely landscaped and right on the ocean on a very calm little cove where boats dock. The staff is friendly. The hotel offers paddle boats and kayaks for their guests at no charge. The salt-water pool and hot tub are nice and clean. A continental breakfast is included, which offers hard-boiled eggs (which were generally over cooked), pastries, cereals yogurt, fruit and a tasty key-lime tart. Unfortunately, we had difficulty sleeping all three nights. The bed, while king-sized, was much too firm (even for my wife who prefers a firm mattress) and the pillows were too firm for my taste as well. We asked the front desk for softer pillows, but there were none available. Another issue was the loud AC, which, while not too noticeable during the day, sounds like a fog horn when all else is quiet at night. The "clunk" it made every time it shut off didn't help matters. The room comes with a single 10% off coupon for the restaurant "Snappers" next door (see separate review).

This is a great hotel, great location. It is right on the water, and it has 19 rooms. We were on the 3rd floor, and the view was wonderful...it overlooked the ocean and the swimming pool. Very nice room... a little older, and a little small, but very adequate. Nice king size bed, and very nice flat screened tv.

They serve a great breakfast on the second floor overlooking the ocean. They have boiled eggs, yogurt, fresh fruit, juice, and pastries, as well as toast and bagels.... It is served from 7:30 until 9:30.

The grounds are very lush, and you can park underneath the hotel, so your car stays cool. The pool is wonderful, and there is a little beach that has hammocks on it. There are also kayaks and paddle boats you can use.

Management was wonderful and accommodating. They give you beach towels for the pool, and they were very ready to help in any way you can. We would definitely return!

Room Tip: The rooms on the second floor have screened in porches... we might select one of those next time bec...

We chose Dove Creek Lodge based on TripAdvisor reviews as it was our first visit to the Keys, and the reviews were spot on. The staff are all friendly and helpful, but some are superb which makes the pleasant ones look ordinary.
We loved the location and the outdoor space is wonderful - great pool and hottub, and they have designed secluded outdoor spots for a nap or quiet read. The room was spotlessly clean and although we didn't use it, had a great balcony.
The breakfast is awesome and there were lots of choices. The breakfast staff were so helpful in getting more food and checking that we were ok. We visited several other hotels while we were there and thought that we had made the perfect choice. It is small enough to tailor to your needs and be quiet but big enough to have all the facilities that you need. We would definitely go back there.

Room Tip: We stayed immediately next to the breakfast room and it was quiet and spacious.
