Because we have a pet, and because this was a special booking to celebrate my husband's birthday, I called Coconut Bay Resort directly to obtain true availability during high season, pet charges, and an accurate description of the rooms that accept dogs.
The woman I spoke to on the phone was doing a number of things as she took my call, and felt free to tell me that. She repeatedly attempted to get me off the phone, and sounded annoyed and irritated by my questions. (I was a travel agent for 12 years, so I assure you, my questions weren't uninformed, bothersome or hard to answer). When I indicated I wanted to hold a room (wrong word, apparently!), she rudely told me that they do not hold rooms, I needed to furnish a credit card. Everything about her demeanor said "we don't want you here! We're tired of high season, go away!"
I had hung in with this woman through the phone call, hoping to book, but at that point, I felt that her service and attitude would pervade throughout our stay.
I'm sorry we won't be staying here, for the high price of travel these days, we'd like to know that we'd be valued as guests, and that our business is wanted.More
