Owner description: Since 1977 Quiescence has concentrated on providing it's clientele with an un-crowded and personalized way to enjoy the sport of diving - both scuba diving and snorkeling. We have three boats here at Quiescence, and each operates with a maximum of six passengers to provide each customer with personalized attention, comfort, and safety. This also gives us the ability to take our divers out to spots not normally visited by divers. Our charters operate within the Key Largo National Marine Sanctuary, John Pennekamp State Park, and beyond. Each dive location is selected first and foremost by the customer's wishes, supported by recommendations by the Captain as to local conditions.

“A Class Act”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 November 2013

This dive company was recommended to me by two different people and we were not disappointed. The staff were clear with us about the diving conditions, what to expect and asked lots of questions to ensure we were at a skill level that we were able to dive the site we wanted to. The day we went out had a 6 ft. chop and in a small boat, that was a tough slog. After diving the Duane, we asked to come back in instead of doing a second dive and there no questions asked. The gear was new and well-maintained. The boat was clean and the boat captain was knowledgeable and friendly. My only beef (and it is a MINOR one) is that they didn't have rental fits that I could use with my wetsuit boots - I would have like to have had that option.

It's a small boat (max 6 divers) and there is no head aboard. They don't provide snacks. You know that in advance of the dive, so there's no surprises.

Highly recommended.

“Best diving in Key Largo, FL”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 October 2013

We dove with this dive shop during the week Oct 13 thru Oct 19, 2013. They take a maximum of 6 divers per boat. Nice boats and laid back attitude. Boat captain assists with donning equipment so you don't have to walk with equipment, just sit on side of boat and it is brought to you. Very nice. At front desk in dive shop they are vigilant of new divers and check the dive log if they are diving a deep wreck. Had one new diver without enough dives want to do the Spiegel Grove wreck. Since she did not have enough experience, she had to go with the shop's dive master as a guide. During the week's diving, we picked which dive sites we wanted to dive not the dive shop. Dives were great and water temp 81 degrees. This is our third year diving with Quiescence. Oct and Nov are great times to visit the Keys, water temp still warm and the crowds are gone. Went out one day with only 3 divers on boat. Very good dive shop.

“No crowds, valet diving, great crews!”

We dove for the first time with this group on 10-19-13. They are very laid back and it was a relaxing time. There is no rush and they accommodate all types of divers from beginner to experienced. They handle all tanks on the boat and switch tanks for you between dives, while assisting with donning equipment before each dive. Excellent service.

The seas were 2-3 feet and with only a 20% chain of rain we somehow seemed to find it during both dives!! The boats are 6 packs, which causes a smaller boat to rock a bit getting geared up, but once you're under its smooth diving. This was a great trip for my brand new OW diver GF to experience her first boat dive. We will be diving with them again soon.

“Almost Perfect...”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 October 2013

Prices were good..the boat was small and there were only 5 people on the dive. My husband had a "freakout" moment when he first got in the water on the first dive..the captain and captain in training were both very patient with him, they got him back in the boat and gave him some time to get his whits back about him and them helped him get suited up to try again..second time was a success and he enjoyed his dives after that. The only thing I had to raise my eyebrows at involved a gentleman who was doing a 'refresher course' with a dive instructor and was on the boat doing a 'refresher dive.' On the second dive his secondary got caught on a reef but the instructor had already taken off without him, she didnt have him in her sight. Thank god my husband saw what was happening and was able to go free the man..the instructor should have never left a student out of her eyesite.

“Recommend them!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 September 2013

This was our first dive trip in the keys. We are both advanced divers and prefer a smaller dive boat with less people getting read on the boat and kicking stuff up underwater. These guys were perfect for us. The cost was reasonable. We had 6 total divers on the boat and the captain let us dive our computers (no set bottom time). The only "complaint" was we had a few divers on the boat not comfortable with any amount of current. We had to cancel a dive on the Spiegel Grove b/c they didn't feel comfortable with a drift dive or the current. We primarily dive Cozumel, where that is all we really know. The boat captain and dive guide they hired handled the situation very professionally and offered to allow us to dive while everyone waited on the boat as they didn't want us to be disappointed. However, we didn't want the others to be inconvenienced or feel unsafe. We called the dive out of courtesy for the other divers. I would ask about the skill level of other divers on the boat before going out as we could have got on a different boat with Quiescence and made the dive, had we known before hand. Just to be clear to all reading this review -- it was handled the right way and were very pleased overall with the shop. We dove the Duane, Molasses Reef, the Benwood, and French Reef. The reef life isn't as good as Cozumel, but it's definitely better than anything else in the states! The wrecks were really cool. The boat captain told us the history of the wreck before we jumped so, that was very interesting as well.
