I've stayed here several times in the past and found it a good value stopping off point after flying into Miami. This time Stone Ledge had different owners. The place seemed pretty much as it was on previous visits, but on closer examination, time had taken its toll on the bungalows. My one was closer to the sea, making it further away from the traffic noise of US1. Whilst the bed and linen were clean and fresh, the bungalow, particularly the bathroom needed attention. Work had been carried out on the floor, which had been badly patched. Where internal walls had been removed, unpainted wood was left. The front door didn't lock properly, meaning to gain entry, after the door had been locked, all that was necessary was to shake the door knob and in seconds you were in. If fact I never bothered to use the key to get in at all, just the shaking of the knob. Needless to say, valuables were locked in the boot of the hire car! On the plus side, the jetty was an ideal place to fish, or just to watch the setting sun. The sea was shallow and ideal for snorkelling, while the small man made beach and loungers were a pleasant place to unwind. Would I stay there again? Probably, if only for the excellent value for money. I did see an add for a motel for sale, which looked much like Stone Ledge, so if it is sold, perhaps it will see a new lease of life?
