We spent 3 days here during the week-the resort is clean, friendly and the atmosphere of small Key West townhouses is cosy and pretty! The grounds are lush and offer privacy. The only disappointing issue we had was with the tiki bar.Breakfast is totally made up of pre-packaged, microwaveable food. The coffee was undrinkable. We would have loved some fried eggs, bacon and fresh toast with real knives and forks instead of plastic ware like one gets on a plane.
I'm sure that by not having a full fledged kitchen the costs are kept down, but why not offer better food? Surely a stove and pan won't break the bank?! And add a coffee machine for a capucchino, or good drip coffee-everything tasted fake-the only good part was fresh orange juice! This resort is quiet and about 1/2 hr from town-fix the food and guests won't want to leave!!

We spent a wonderful 11 nights at the Parrot Key. Nothing too much trouble for very helpful and friendly staff. Would recommend this as a place to stay when in Key West. Rutanya, Kyle & Oriana were lovely at reception and always willing to help with any questions we had. Shelly and the guys in the cafe gave some great tips on places to see and provided a great service. Thank you everyone.

Room Tip: Sea view is worth it.

The receiver for the TV in the living area did not work. It took about an hour or so for someone to make it operational.
The clock in the downstairs bedroom was not plugged in and we had to figure out how to set it.
The upstairs bedroom was extremely warm. There was only one vent in the bedroom and one in the closet (??) In order for the temperature to be adequate upstairs it was freezing downstairs.
The bed in the handicap bedroom was too high. I needed someone to help me get into the bed.
The hairdryer in the downstairs bathroom caught on fire. It was reported but nothing was ever done.
The handicap parking was under construction and for at least one night there were zero parking spaces which is actually illegal if not very inconvenient. When there were designated spaces they were located in spots that were far from the actual room. No one staying at Parrot Key should have to park at Walgreens.
On checkout day we asked to have Shawn Bacon give us a call but he did not.
Upon checkout we were not asked how our stay was or even given a ‘thank-you’ for staying at Parrot Key
Suggestions:
Drop the height of the bed in the handicap room so that a person in a wheelchair can easily transfer from their chair onto the bed.
Add a ceiling fan to the second floor bedroom and possibly additional a/c vents.
Assign handicap parking space/s to a specific handicap room
When something is on fire, put it out, don’t ignore it.
When a customer asks to have the manager call them and they are provided with a cell phone number, the manager should be admonished when they ignore that request.
Provide staff with more knowledge of issues facing those with handicaps.

Room Tip: If you travel by wheelchair make sure you ask about the height of the bed and where the handicap parking is located. The bathroom with roll-in shower was fine.

Very enjoyable "resort" tucked away off busy Roosevelt Blvd. Many pluses for this property; its staff being a primary one. They were very accommodating, knowledgeable about the area, friendly and helpful in planning our adventures in and around Key West. Another big plus for this property are the four small (about 25’ x 25’) to mid sized pools, in the center of the property, each surrounded by lush mature palms and tropical plants, providing a semi-private feeling for the days’ sun bathing and dipping into the salt-water heated pools. A Tiki Bar offered good food and drink. Rooms are very adequate, clean and provided us a great view of the water and our sandy back yard on which to continue our sun worshiping. Very good bathroom with glass door, marble walled shower. Beds were a little soft for our liking and the room could benefit from a ceiling fan. Roosevelt Blvd is under a prolonged water main replacement program being performed on “island time”. No one knows when it will be completed and the one-way traffic was a minor inconvenience. Goldman’s Deli across the street provided the bargain of the trip, a great $3.99 breakfast between 7 and 10 daily. Overall, Parrot Key, convenient to downtown, was a very good value for the cost.

Room Tip: First floor rooms along the water offer the best views, sandy back yards and convenience.

Upon arriving at Parott Key we were blown away by all the lush green plants everywhere. You literally feel you are in the jungle. The rooms are neatly decorated and clean. It is a little pricey though. They call this a waterfront resort, however that is a little misleading, as the water is more like a lagoon . From the Internet photos it shows the (beach front ) rooms opening to a sandy beach which leads you to believe you walk into the water. That is a false hood as there is a white picket fence that stops you from falling into a lagoon thick with shrubbery . I was a little disappointed at this. It is located a couple miles from downtown and beaches, so we spent a lot of money on cab services. There are only a couple eating places near the resort. Five Guys hamburger across the street, and a few blocks away is a nice seafood place. Other than that Walgreens next door sells sandwiches. If you are a smoker the only place you can smoke is next to Walgreens and at the very end of the property. It is a 500 dollar fine if someone reports that you were smoking on the property like out on your porch etc. Maid service for the room was poor. They have a sign in the room stating that they will be done by 5pm. After running around daily and coming to the room at 4pm two days in a row it still had Not been serviced. No fresh towels etc. this was a little annoying. One afternoon we came to the room to find our room door wide open, this was scarey as all our money passports etc. was there. Guess they were in such a hurry that they didn't shut the door. I reported this to the front desk to remind the maids to take extra precaution and make sure rooms were secure. One other note is the beaches in Key West are not that great. They are not known for beaches and I see why. I will add that we go to Aruba every year and not many can compare to their beaches. Overall, I would stay here again if we came back to Key West.
