We stayed almost a week. We had a dual level 2 bedroom unit. The good outweighed the bad by a substantial margin - as a matter of fact the bad works out to just minor annoyances. :)
First the good: the pools are an excellent areas to wile away the time and are well maintained. The Cafe/bar area is great. The rooms are clean, spacious and have a good view. The landscaping was outstanding. The staff was helpful and accommodating with events and amenities. it seriously was a joy to stay there.
Now things I would like to see improved: You need a proper sink in the kitchenette area, a desk somewhere, footstools for chairs and do something more with the upstairs bedroom, and a separator between decks. Also, the Cafe/bar should be open much later.
Still, I would highly recommend this place to anyone who wanted peace and quiet, a view of the bay and a great place to hang out

Room Tip: Get a 2 bedroom as the 1 bedroom units do not have a living area.

My husband & I and another couple were at Parrot Key the beginning of December for our 25th wedding anniversary. This hotel is perfect! 2 bedroom/2 bath suites were roomy and allowed privacy. It is not very far from the action of Duval Street. We could always fnd a spot at one of the 4 pools. The best part of the vacation was the recommendations we received from Shelley in the Blue Cafe. She knew the best restaurants, the hot spots and even great spots not on the "tourist" circuit. We enjoyed our vacation here so much my husband said "book it for next year"!

Room Tip: High numbered waterfont rooms have the best view

We really enjoyed our stay at both this hotel and their property in Marathon, Tranquility Bay. We spent the Christmas holiday visiting family in south Florida and then went down through the Keys for a few days. The rooms are very clean and the staff is so nice. They really make you feel welcome. The hotel itself is unique and has very neat landscaping. They have four pools which make it easy to find a quiet spot even when the hotel is busy.

Room Tip: The two bedroom suite is HUGE. It gave me and the family plenty of space.

I really can not say enough about this resort! From the moment we were checking in with Nate (who is hysterical) to breakfast every morning with the very efficient Dean, this place is the perfect place to stay in Key West. Here's what I loved:

1. Location: some might think I am crazy as Parrot Key is not in town, however, I loved being just a bit removed from all of the crazy of Duval street. It was very quiet and far from the airport..so you never heard any airplane noise.
2. View: WOW, we were in room 40 and the view is stunning of the bay area. There is a sandy area just outside our door (maybe 20 yards deep) of sand and palm trees. We would hang out here early in the morning and late at night.
3. Pool Area: I've never seen a pool area as lovely as this one. There are 4 pools, however, there is so much foliage and art that you can not see from one pool to the next. It is a tropical paradise nestled in between the rooms.
4. Jet Ski: On the property is a Jet Ski (Sunset Watersports) company where you can rent Jet Skis and kayaks. We did the jet ski tour twice we loved it so much. Curt and Caleb are awesome guides and make it so much fun. I was new to jet skis...so don't be scared..just do it!
5. Scooter Rental: Because town is a little far, it is good to rent either scooters or a golf cart...we did both as there were 8 of us. This worked out perfectly for our family and the people at Parrot Key can arrange this for you.
6. Money: We had a 3 bedroom waterfront for Christmas this year and I can tell you that it was a fraction of the amount wanted by other resorts in Key West. Our 3 bedroom had a den area where we could all hang out. This is an incredibly economical way to see Key West and the best part is its the BEST place to stay in Key West.

Any downside to Parrot Key.....NO...I've stayed a lot of places and this really will give you the Key West experience...you can stay at a Sheraton or Westin anywhere, but there is only one Parrot Key!

Room Tip: Choose a room that is waterfront...I'm not sure of the room numbers but probably anywhere from r...

Two nights and three days at Parrot Key and we feel pampered and alive again.
We recommend it to everyone and we love any time we have for a getaway there. Tell all our friends and anyone talking about Key West to go online and check out your website. It really is just as pictured and people like Arianna, Nate, Shelly and even Eric in housekeeping make our visit exceed our expectations.

Room Tip: Love Garden water view. Suites are extra special too.

Pros:
Family suits are large with two bathrooms, plenty of storage;
There is an empty small fridge and a microwave;
TVs in every room;
Four small heated pools - never crowded;
Lovely gardens around each building;
Sandy beach around the property - most of the second floor rooms have a nice balcony with beautiful views;
Walgreens is right next to resort - for small errands;
Cons:
It is 10 min driving from Key West downtown;
Lots of traffic everywhere;
Boring strip malls and Home Depot all around the resort;
Construction on the road leading to the hotel;
No access to beach for swimming - only sand beach with fence separating the resort from ocean but it seems that no hotel or resorts in KeyWest have ocean access, there are two public beaches on driving distance;
The housekeeping comes at around 5pm when most people are back in rooms. As the result we had room cleaning only once or twice during our 6 day stay;
No sink in the kitchenette area - we had to run to bathroom sink to wash dishes;
The little restaurant at one of the pools is nice but not tasty and very expensive.
Overall our stay here was tolerable but not perfect...

Went to Parrot Key Resort for a week. Two bedroom suites are spacious and comfortable. Lizanne the concierge was super in her recommendations of restaurants and other things to do. The lush greenery all around the resort makes you feel like you're on an island in the Caribbean. Can't go wrong in staying there.
