“Very Nice.”
Reviewed 19 February 2014

VERY friendly and attentive staff. Special mention to Dean, who was our server and bartender on several occasions. Beautiful grounds. Nice accommodations. Good restaurant/bar (although no dinner). The four pools gave a sense of privacy, yet were big enough to have kids meet/have fun. Drawbacks: No real beach. Limited parking (often had to park at Walgreens next door), road construction (temporary, and out of their control), and NO outdoor smoking area (a lack of accommodation to a sizable percentage of guests that's, sadly, all too common in today's overly-sensitive and intolerant/judgmental America). BTW, this place is located a fair distance from the center of town, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Although the room and bathroom were spacious, the accommodation was inconvenient and annoying, especially considering the $400+ price without breakfast.

a) Parking (in pouring rain when we arrived) was available only in the neighboring shopping center parking lot.

b) Room furnishings were thoughtless and inconvenient: one comfortable chair only; no desk; only two hangers in cupboard; no closet; tiny storage space in large bathroom; towels not close to shower.

c) I could not find high definition TV channels and there was no information in the room. Upon calling the front desk, I was told that the (large and flat) TV was not a HD one! This is hard to believe in what is supposed to be a high-end hotel.

d) With a few exceptions (such as Liz who was very helpful), staff seemed uninterested and not particularly helpful.

e) Resort fee is charged even though nothing is used.

f) A fee of $50 is charged if not checking out by 11 AM, unless one obtains prior permission for a late (noon?) checkout.

Room Tip: I would advise choosing another hotel.

Stayed here with family (adult children) for a few days and have to say this is an odd review as somethings great others terrible. Great location, rooms, friendly staff. Terrible things: NO FRONT DESK after 11 PM (if you get here later you are out of luck - this is just dumb), Restaurant is terrible (precooked bacon you could get next door at drug store cheaper), Note If you use the Kayak rental and if (like me) you are over 6 feet it is a waste of money as the Kayaks are VERY VERY uncomfortable - no place to put your feet - either you whack your knees or stretch out with no support of feet and ruin your back - not to mention turkeys in jet skis and limited things to see!
so there it is widely varied!

Room Tip: ocean side is better but more expensive

This resort is fairly compact but with nicely designed, good quality colourful rooms set in individual tastefully designed Key West style wooden 'houses', which successfully capture the relaxed atmosphere of Key West.

The hotel is located as you come into Key West on the highway so is a five to ten minute drive down to the heart of town. The room’s veranda and the sandy strip than runs around the resort were our favourite places to chill – each room has its own set of chairs and recliners to catch the sun. There is no access to the water of the bay, other than by jet ski.

The pool and bar area are fairly compact but nicely landscaped. For us, these were somewhere to relax after a day exploring Key West rather, than somewhere you might want to spend the whole day.

The public walkways are fairly noisy with the din of the air conditioning units outside each block but this noise does not penetrate the rooms once the doors are shut.

Room Tip: Difficult as its down to personal preferences. There's a choice - upper level looking out to th...

Let me begin with the fact that this was the best hotel during our U.S. trip. Honestly, I can not even say anything negative - all our hosting time was great.
The first positive impression was that we came to the resort before check-in time - but we were warmly greeted by reception staff member and provided with key to room number.
Excellent is also that the resort guests are granted with free parking.
I really liked the resort architecture of the house and created an ensemble of mutually connected by wooden walkways. I liked that around the houses is very much greenery and beautiful flowers that creates a romantic mood.
Next we are very impressed by our room - it was not a room but a terraced house with 3 floors. Room number furnishings comparable to luxury class - a very beautiful, cozy and elegant. On the ground floor there is a small hallway and stairs leading to the second floor. The second floor has a large living room with a kitchen, living room is equipped with a comfortable sofa and a big TV. Also on the second floor is also master bedroom with a very large and comfortable bed, stylish furniture and a little less TV. At the bedroom, of course, is also large bathroom. I think needless to say that also interior of the bathroom was very neat and cozy. on 2nd floor was also available 2 terraces - one facing the street, the other overlooking the courtyard pool.On the third floor was another bedroom and bathroom.
Immediately we went also enjoy the pool - there was a very pleasant peace, because there are several pools throughout the Resort and at the pool was just a few people. In swimming pool water was pleasantly warm and romantic atmosphere created a peaceful and relaxing music. Near the pool was created as the rain forest with all sorts of antique accessories. After walking around Key West - enjoyed an evening on their terrace overlooking the pool, while sipping red wine and snacks. The moment when darken - Resort area is beautifully illuminated and arises again a romantic atmosphere.
Moreover it must be noted that throughout the resort area is non-smoking and for violation of this provision threatens harsh a fine. Being a smoker I did not pose the problems go beyond the territory in order to smoke.
I would also like to commend the staff responsiveness and willingness to help - I had forgotten to turn off the car lights and the battery of the morning was empty. Front desk workers actively involved in solving my problems - calling on car rental, car service, and explaining where the auto parts store :) Together this problem was solved and I could go on.So big, big thank you to staff for helping.
The only thing our reservation did not include breakfast, but we still decided to eat breakfast at the hotel. Breakfast is available at the breakfast cards - everything we chose was very tasty! Perhaps the price of the breakfast could be a little lower - but it was all in the best level.
Location: In my opinion location is great - near the ocean and duval street easy reachable in a 5 minutes by Taxi,
Conclusion: We all enjoyed very much and am sorry that my wife and I spent only one night here. But I can say 100% in the future will be in Key West, then definitely stay here only. And if you have not decided yet - do not think more and select the Parrot Key Resort.

Just a note to say this place is shoehorned into a chain shopping area behind a Home Depot and a Walgreens. It has none of the charms of Key West since it is isolated from easy town access by a five lane highway. Don't even begin to imagine this is a part of Key West. Its a set of stacked condos. Note that since the resort has inadequate parking they have arranged parking at the Walgreens and you have to walk through the shrubbery to get back to the resort.

Inside the condos are full of flat screens with good balcony views in two of the three levels for those condos with ocean views. The third level is floor tiled and has a window (ours had bird droppings and was VERY dirty). So if you have three couples renting one of these as we did make sure you work out the shortcomings of this room with your friends. Lacking coffee pots or any bar sinks to support the microwave the resort offered only the use of there mini coffemakers and the commercial packets much like you would get at a motel six.

The pool areas are great but disallow binging of your own beverages. The pool bar closes at five and is a bit pricey.

In short this resort is over promised by the website pictures, poorly located and not a good value. Key West so a better location closer to the bars and restaurants and other attractions at similar or better rates.

Room Tip: Keep looking. You can do better.

We stayed at the Parrot Key for our anniversary. It is a beautiful property but it has a lot to be desired. The suites are all on the second floor and there is no elevator, or bellmen, you have to take your own luggage and the parking is far from the suites, over a block if you are staying on the corner suites which we were. The stairs are steep, and difficult to carry your luggage up and down. There is no robes in the bathrooms, all the hotels in this range have a robe, I never carry mine, because it's too bulky. No pen or pads in the room, so if you have to write down a number or leave a message for the cleaning staff you have nowhere to write. There was a bar of soap under the bed when we got there it was there when we left. It's waterfront not beachfront, from the marketing we thought it had a beach, I know Key West is not know for their beaches but we've stayed in some hotels that have a small beach, you can't even get close to the water. They have sand, but no beach. The breakfast is very limited, and not that great and it was slow. The front desk staff was personable and they sent us chocolate covered strawberries for our anniversary, that was very nice. We had to rent mopeds because you can not walk to town it's very far. The construction in the front makes it difficult to get in an out. Although I must say we had a nice stay, for the money we paid they were missing a lot of details.

Room Tip: If you don't want to climb stairs, stay on the ground floor.
