This hotel was great for a group of friendly couples traveling together. We shared a 3 bedroom, 3 story townhome with a common kitchen and living room area. The resort was immaculate to boot! Each bedroom had their own private bathroom. It is a very low key resort with beautiful gardens and 4 swimming pools. Just a $20 cab ride for the six of us to travel to downtown Key West together. Would definitely stay there again. Could not beat the price per couple per night as compared to the downtown hotels.

We stayed at parrot Key Resort in Jan of 2010. The resort grounds are really beautiful, peacful and private. We had a 3 bedroom 3.5 bath cottage. We also got an amazing rate on their website. The decor is really stunning and comfortable. The bedrooms are beautiful and comfortable. There was a full kitchen with all of the necessities, because of this we even ate in for breakfast and a few lunches There is WIFI throughout. This place just feels like home, but better! We had a corner cottage so I think that may have added to the privacy level. We had a spectacular view from the second floor. The pools are amazing and so peaceful, ( I think the expectation of serenity may be something for families with small children to take into consideration). I cannot say enough about the beauty of the gardens and pools.
During our stay the gym and laundry were not avail, we were a little disappointed, BUT the resort did offer use of the gym across the street and even offered to have housekeeping do our laundry. We did not take them up on either offer, but we thought it was more than adequate. We enjoyed the drinks at the bar and parking was never a problem. I have read complaints on this website about this resort and I experienced none of them. This resort is truly an island paradise. We travel to Key west at least once every year, and we will not hesitate to make this our hotel of choice! I was so sad to leave!

The Parrot Key Resort was the perfect getaway for my husband and I.. The grounds are beautiful. Our first great impression was the front desk and check in. Very Friendly and accomodating. The cottage we stayed in was immaculate and supplied everything we needed for our stay. It was nice to return to a nice quiet place after going to Duvall Street.
We are definitely going back to the Parrot Key.

We stayed in a garden-view room and we were impressed with its size (very large) as well as the nice porch. The furniture and decoration were beautiful and the property is perfectly manicured around the pool and garden areas. The bed was super comfortable and the bathroom was well equipped with toiletries, hair drier, etc. They offer free wi-fi and it is super fast and easy to get connected. The location is not bad although not really close to the old part of town so it requires driving. It is VERY quiet! My only complaint had to do with the cleanliness of the place. I found trash under the bed and hair on the bathroom floor as well as coffee spills on the sink. The cleaning service did not do a good job before and during our stay and they did not replace the paper cups either so, while there was in-room coffee, there was no place to drink it from. The lack of ice and vending machines was strange for such a big resort, although there is a pharmacy next door which proved to be very convenient for last-minute needs. All in all, a really nice place, but there is room for improvement.

The service at check in was not to good; after it got worse. We arrived in the evening, looking forward to relaxing in the hot tub-- they don't have one! So, we decided to unwind by one of four pools-- Nope, can't do that either- pools close at 5:30.(dark).

We complained to the Staff and they were unwilling to even listen- they just continued saying the same thing over and over- sorry nothing we can do about it. We asked to cancell so we could move to a different location and they told us that they had already charged us for two days and we were not going to get it (our money) back.
We went to the front desk and asked for a cab, but had to wait until the desk clerk was finished with a seemingly personal phone call. She was also rather rude.
At check out, we had to calculate our own bill. Seems the front desk people didn't know how to use a calculator. We tried several time to contact the manager/ Owner- no call back. The front desk did slip-up on that one too. When we tried to reach the manager on Saturday, they told us he was not in; When we brought it up on Sunday, they said, well, he was here yesterday. Which is it?
Last year, I traveled for business, and spent 220 nights in several hotels- never did I have this poor service level.
Oh, and if you are a smoker- definately forget this place. I would expect no smoking in the rooms, but this place is no smoking on the property! They told us to just go to Walgreens parking lot or face a $500.00 'service charge' and they were quick to point out that they had our AMEX on file. I understand that the owners can make that their policy if they so choose; but, they should make that clear at the time of booking so people can decide what they want to do. I felt like I was held Hostage. I make a decent living, but I can't walk away from a +/-$600.00 deposit.

We stayed at this resort during a very cold time in January so we were unable to truly enjoy some the amenities like the pools, bar and water. The grounds are absolutely beautiful and tended to and the details down to the potted plants and positioning are wonderfully done. The same holds true for the interior of the units. We had unit 41 which is 3 bedroom and 3 bath villa and has water views. The colors, furnishings and layout is again very well thought out and done. There are 4 flat screen televisions with DVD players, fully furnished kitchen and brand new mattresses put in the day we arrived.
The down side is the oveerall cleanliness lor the unit eaves a lot to be desired. There was dust on much of the furniture, the bathrooms were not too well cleaned, the floors not mopped very regularly and the positioning of the furniture had been changed from original set up and needs attention. When a company puts the money and effort to furnish something at the level it did, it is unfortunate that the level of organization and cleanliness doesn't match that level. In addition, the walls are very well scuffed and much of the trim is as well. I understand the need for utilization and productivity but a beautiful assett is quickly deteriorating. Another odd item is that we had a three bedroom unit and a 6 cup coffee maker. Not a big deal but at Tranaquilty Resort in Marathon which is the same company, we had a 2 bedroom unit with a nice 12 cup coffee maker. A curious bit of "value engineering".
I can understand the issues with possible noise and traffic as the location really is in the middle of a very busy area, however none of that affected us at all once we parked the car and strolled into the complex.
Everyone is very friendly, Key West is worth the trip and there is plenty to do and this place is nicely done. The resort fee is a bit slimy as there really is no value added for that fee. Build it into the room rate or offer some value for the additional fee but I sense it is an operator's way to drive more revenue without incurring any additional expense.
Having said all this, we definitely would stay at this Hotel again and would look forward to enjoying the pools and restaurant this time. We loved all the space of the villa and loved all the design features. If they could just spend a bit more on Housekeeping and a Preventive Maintenance program, this place would really shine.
