This place is the perfect getaway for a family vacation if you don't have to have oceanfront. The property is great. Our 3 bedroom cottage was clean and spacious, with a front and back door, as well as two balconies. All the furniture was comfortable and artwork gorgeous. The poolside bar, fitness room and laundry room were also nice.

There were some kids there, but not so many that the adults couldn't enjoy themselves. We spent 3 days in the pool, and never once had to share it with kids or more than 5 people. It's close to the beach as well as Duval Street, both within 5 minutes. Scooter rentals are cheap, and they deliver to the resort.

Took a minute to get used to the lizards, small snakes and iguanas, but hey it is Florida.

We will return to same resort next year.

Altogether a very nice resort with 4 swimming pools and wonderful flora, but our "beachfront" cottage sat on a narrow sandy strip the resort had put in, behind a low fence behind a wide mangrove growth, hence, no swimming at this beach. Also because of the fence and plantings all sunsets had to be viewed from our 2nd floor bedroom balcony.

There is a no smoking anywhere on the grounds policy that you need to be aware of especially of you are thinking about enjoying that Cuban cigar while watching the sunset.
Besides the standard taxes there is a daily $24. resort fee tacked onto the price that I did not understand what it entitled us other than use of the pool and laundry.

Quiet, convenient, lush, and well appointed apartments with a couple of quirks

My Family and I made very last minute reservations at the Parrot Key resort, last minute as in the day before...and we were pleasantly surprised with the helpful staff in accommodating a party of 9. We rented the 3 bedroom cottage, and to say the very least the room was beautiful. Everything was tastefully decorated, and clean. There are several pools to choose from, and each is landscaped beautifully. The resort is located about 2 miles from Duval Street, which means you are close enough to the action, but far enough away that late night parties won't interrupt your sleep! Very important when traveling with kids.

The only things we could think of that may need adjustment would be the inclusion of shower caps, q-tips, and cotton balls that are usually supplied at other hotels. There was also only one blow dryer available in the master bath, even though our cottage had 3 other bathrooms. The resort also does not have access to a beach...

My husband and 2 friends wanted a few days in Key West that was not near the noise of the crowds yet not too far to drive to the sights either. We had made an early reservation at this resort a month prior for 2 days. During an unexpected death in our family during the previous month, we took the time to drive by the parking lot. We were ready to cancel....you really can't judge this book by it's cover as once we arrived for our stay, we extended an extra night. It is beautiful but as many others we heard complaining, it is somewhat misleading that this place is on the beach. We stayed in the most expensive 3 BR waterfront which is pretty much blocked by bushes and growth, it's beautiful, don't get me wrong, just don't plan on having anywhere to put your feet in the water except the pools. And they are nice and it is quiet! We had previously stayed at Tranquility Bay for our honeymoon and these houses are laid out almost identical. If you split the rooms between the bedrooms you can't beat the price. Each is private and has it's own bathroom and tv. We didn't mind the short drive to Duval Street and there is plenty of shopping and restaurants within walking distance from the resort. The people were very nice that worked there. Everything was clean and new in appearance, the appliances were stainless steel, large kitchen for cooking and eating in if you prefer. Parking lot can be crammed at times, esp. during busy season. Overall a wonderful place to stay in Key West!

Our main problem at Parrot Key Resort was a security issue. At 2:00 in the morning, I was up with my daughter when I heard someone enter the front door downstairs. I sent my husband down there and by the time he got in there, there was already a man standing inside our room!! He quickly said that he thought we needed help with a problem, although he did not announce who he was or what his job was. My husband told him to leave. The following morning, I made 4 trips to the front desk to figure out who this man was. He not only had the card to get into our room, he also opened the door with a deadbolt key...Scary. We thought at first that he may have been a security guard, but the description of the man did not match the security guard. So, they had no idea who he was or what he was doing in our place (could have been there to steal or to hurt one of our children). They acted as if it was no big deal. There was no one in management there to speak to, they only have one person at the customer no service desk. It was handled completely inappropriately. Multiple emails and letters have been sent to the property manager, but i have never received a response or apology from anyone. They have a huge breach in their security at this resort. If you want to feel safe with your family, I would not recommend taking them there.

Noone expects to park in Walgreens while on vacation. Unless you do not mind parking in a retails parking lot and wish to drive far to get to Duval Street and other tourist attractions and museums, do not book this venue.

I will never stay here again.

p.s. Paid for Ocean Front room and all I could see from our room where power lines running across the Gulf/ Not our idea of Oceam Front!!!

My husband and I went to Key West for a weekend getaway and truly enjoyed our stay at this resort. The grounds are absolutely beautiful, and it was easy to get from the hotel to downtown Key West, although you will need to drive or grab a taxi. When we arrived our room was not yet ready, and while we did offer to wait at the bar until it was ready, the front desk staff was extremely courteous and upgraded us to a suite. The room was large, very nicely decorated and comfortable. Our only minor complaint is that the gym is quite small, but we were still able to get in a workout each morning. Overall, our experience was wonderful and we will return to this hotel again.
