Run to this hotel! Descriptives: Charming, classy, great central location, quiet tropical setting surrounded by flowers and the sound of water, private deck, daily coffee service at the pool, 24 hour concierge service, full-service small grocery store around the corner, free parking on-site, can walk everywhere, double marble sinks in bathroom, live Christmas tree in lobby, rooms have a relaxing scent. I could go on and on...Pauline and Richard were very friendly and wonderful. Wanted to book a return trip before we left to room #2. Side trip: take a ferry to Sunset Key and enjoy great food in a tropical setting on the beach.

agree the location is the best thing here, stayed for 2 nights and walked or cycled everywhere, we had thought on site restaurant would be open for breakfast but it's not , there is a continental breakfast service if you order the night before which were not organised enough to do,
our room was pleasant but lacked privacy as it overlooked the pool and shared a terrace witht the room next door, we were kept awake by people chatting on our terrace, could see right in to most rooms from the pool area
enclosed pool and garden are a nice escape but lack sun and full of leaves when we were there
not quite what I'd expect at this price poiint

Room Tip: avoid rooms overlooking pool if you want privacy

Great location. Walking distance to Duval street venues, and a Walmart is close by for any quick needs. Staff and service was impeccable! We had an expensive boat trip lined up through a local operator, but we had a medical issue come up last minute at 3am the night before. The night desk clerk gave us directions to the Urgent care, and called our boat company to get our ticket canceled with a refund. Pool/garden space is beautiful. This hotel is a gem!

I've stayed at many places in Key West over the years, my choices gradually rising with success in life, and Marquesa has become my favorite. It's the little touches which make it so great: in our room the armoire was divided with his-and-her closets with separate full-length mirrors and sufficient hangers for each of us--even in the best hotels in Paris or Switzerland, one always has to compete for hangers, but not here. And the individual his-and-her porcelain basins in the bathroom were another great convenience. This is a sanctuary of quiet luxury. And the hotel office staff ranks the best, the nicest, the most helpful I've ever accounted. You are truly a guest here, not merely a customer. The location is perfect, close to the Old Town end of Duval Street, but still isolated from the drunks and crowds (--same thing?). No, there's no beach at this garden hotel. But, hey, this is a limestone island and the beaches, for the most part, are lousy, anyway. If you come to Key West seeking peace and pleasure, you've found your Eden here. TIP: the Marquesa's restaurant can be inconsistent. Consult the reviews to help make up your mind.

This charming hotel is the perfect stay in Key West. It's in a great location with two pools. And the rooms are wonderful. We stayed at one of the rooms overlooking the pool which was spacious and had its own porch. Their breakfast is delicious and can be brought to your room! We've been here twice already and look forward to heading back there soon!

Stayed for two nights and we were made to feel very welcome. Reception area and the rooms are spotless and the outside was lovely with the gardener working hard in the winter 80f heat clearing leaves. Parking is in a eight car garage at the end of the gardens. Didn't have breakfast so that's why food isn't reviewed as we had to get up early for trips. The room was a bit hot and the air-con is a bit loud but as we live in the Devon countryside night time noise takes a bit of getting used to. The "cafe" next door is outstanding, especially if you catch and take your own fish to them to cook. A great stay and would use again.

My wife and I recently stayed at the Marquesa Hotel at the very start of our honeymoon. While I was a little surprised that no congratulatory upgrade was offered, I must nevertheless add our names to the list of those who found it to be a splendid little find. It's very close to the action of Duvall St., yet removed enough to a quiet refuge, and I do mean quiet. While the drunken revelers may be a few steps away, there is a quiet understated elegance at the Marquesa. You really do feel like you've escaped into an oasis of tranquility.

We had a basic room, which indeed was basic, but perfectly fine as it had character and a nice feel to it. I do think however, that the basic rooms are rather pricey for what you get, but I guess the location dictates the price. If we were to return, I would opt for one of the higher category rooms, as they may actually represent a better value. As others have noted the grounds are quite nice, and the two small pools are nice areas to lounge around. The smaller heated pool had lots of leaves and such in it when we were there, and didn't look very inviting, but I think it's kind of tough to keep it clean during the Fall (or rather what ever Fall there is in Key West).

My wife and I are very blessed in that we travel a lot for pleasure, and it's a breath of fresh air to sometimes not stay at a mega hotel chain with the usual antiseptic environment. This place is all together different. The Marquesa is like a quaint New England inn found in Vermont or Maine; that kind of feel. The hotel also seems to attract a nice set of people. I'd say 'more mature', but not in terms of age, but more so in manner. You won't hear drunks making noise in the hallways at 3 in the morning or people doing shots in the lobby; nothing like that. It strikes me as being more upscale with guest being considerate of each other. In fact when you are moving about the halls and stairs of the hotel you feel compelled to keep your voices down as to not disturb anyone.
There is parking at the hotel, which makes it so easy, as street parking is not always easy in tiny Key West.

One of the few downsides is that the hotel does not have an elevator, which, in this instance, was a pain for us, as we had a lot of luggage (we were on an extended six week honeymoon and had a ton of scuba diving and pro photography equipment in addition to clothes ranging from arctic to tropical environments). If you're traveling with the normal amount of luggage, however, it shouldn't be a problem. We did not dine at the highly acclaimed restaurant, which was a mistake you should not make. We will check it out next time. Overall things were just fine and I'd like to return the next time we're down in Key West.

Hope this helps
