“Small Oasis Just Far Enough from Duval”
Reviewed 26 March 2014

My husband and I just spent 5 days at the Marquesa Hotel. We chose a Junior Suite (#5). The hotel is absolutely beautiful in a very classic way-white walls, dark wood trim, lovely furniture. Our Junior Suite was perfect-very large with an open floor plan, including a seating area, a king bed, and a sizable bathroom. We were just in front of one of the two pools, but it was very quiet. We were 2 blocks from Duval Street, but we could not hear the noise and music from there. This is not a hotel for people looking for a lot of diversions and activity-it costs more than many hotels, but it is worth the price to have peace and relaxation. It does not include breakfast (although I think it would be a sensible addition), but for $10 a small, varied continental breakfast is served in your room or on your porch. We did this the first and last mornings for convenience, but enjoyed special breakfasts at Sarabeth's (right around the corner), and Blue Heaven (an experience you should not miss).
The staff was very pleasant and helpful, but totally unobtrusive. We would return here again, and we look forward to that time.

2nd stay at Marquesa. Hotel is very well maintained to the smallest detail. Staff is always pleasant and welcoming. Great location and easy walk to Duval and other prime locations. Had a std room this time. Adequate size, but pricey, even for season.

This hotel is conveniently located in old town Key West, the facilities are beautiful, and the staff was very nice. We stayed in Room 7 and found it to be noisy at night and early morning (restaurant staff Sun PM, garbage Mon AM and recycling Wed AM). The bed had a slight slope toward the headboard and the Wi-Fi was slower than expected. Would reccomend asking for a room that doesn't share a wall with Simonton St.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 7 and found it to be noisy at night and early morning (restaurant staff Sun PM, ga...

Our stay was so nice! While the Marquesa is an upscale hotel everyone who works there is down to earth and so very helpful. Our stay was relaxing and made even more enjoyable by the staff! We even had dinner delivered to our room, the waiter set up as if we were in the hotel, and he was so nice. We'll be back!!

Great small hotel, very nice rooms, never saw other guests, always had pool to myself, felt like my own home, staff there when you wanted help, but not in your face. Two blocks from Duval Street, walk anywhere in Key West. Will be back soon.

We had a very nice welcome with detailed map of Key West, wine & dining suggestions.
Room was what I booked 2 Queen beds but was set up more for a roommate than a couple.
That was all that was available at time of booking.
Some rooms had nice porch but ours just had 2 chairs & not a porch which would of been so much nicer, should have had French doors leading to front porch.
Room was large but not laid out in the most attractive or intimate way.
The bathroom was large but only 1 sink & smallish tub & tissue holder in middle of bathroom(odd looks like it was going to be a handicap bathroom?).
Desk had some wear to wood.
Light switches awkward.
Had 4 night minimum; at $400 a night plus $50 tax pricey for what is offered.
They offered a $10 a person Continental breakfast but for the $$ it should be included.
Also I printed our boarding passes & they charge for copies(kinda tacky).
I could see if you were printing out multiple copies but???
Two nice pools,heated & non.
Would like more privacy at pool as chairs are close together but landscaping lovely!!!!!
Could hear a bit of noise from upstairs but not too much.
Great location & we did not even need our rental car.
Very nice & loved Key West!!!!!!!!!

First visit but not the last. We drove the keys and my husband says never again, so next visit we will be flying in. Since everything we enjoyed was within walking distance of the hotel a car was not necessary. We did taxi back after dinner two of the nights because it was dark and we had had a few glasses of wine. We are so glad that we were not in the Mallory Square vicinity - so commercial. If you like spending quite time in luxurious, tropical surroundings this hotel is for you. My only complaint is that morning coffee did not include decaf, but I suspect that next trip the staff will accomodate me if i ask.

Room Tip: Our room was #17 and was located such that it provided no view of the pool area and was very private...
