We stayed here for 4 nights during our trip and overall we were pleased but we did have a few problems.

We were given room 307 which had a partial sea view. Unfortunately this room is next to the air conditioning unit which is unbelievably noisy. The toilet flush broke in this room and upon closer inspection it had been repaired with a safety pin. Not what I expect from a 4 star hotel.

We complained to reception the next day and the receptionist was extremely helpful and moved us to room 507. This was far nicer as it had vaulted ceilings.

I had emailed in advance to make sure we had a feather free room due to my allergies and this was not done before our arrival. We did just get a blanket as they did not have any light duvets which were feather free.

The location of the hotel is second to none and this is what you are paying for.

We booked an excursion via the concierge for a jet ski trip which should have been $130 each. We managed to get him down to $100 dollars and after being made to think we had a great deal we looked elsewhere to find that the normal amount is $100 for the same trip. So my advice is look elsewhere if booking excursions.

The rooms need updating and the step up into the jacuzzi to have a shower is a bit ridiculous as I am sure some one has probably hurt themselves are the step is big.

If you want to be in the best location then this is the hotel but remember you are paying for the location and not a 4 star room.

My husband and I stayed here for one night a few years ago and were excited to return. We booked a room facing Duval but at check in were upgraded to a 5th floor room with views of Mallory sq. And the water....I was so happy I almost cried! The rooms here are amazing. An almost Tommy Bahama like island feel is what I think they are going for. The beds are very comfortable and the bathrooms spacious. Our bellhop was so sweet and helpful. I forget his name but he was from Ohio and had been here less than a year. Next we decided to have a drink by the pool. Now this is an experience! They have a bar and also cabanas with wonderful loungers to sit on. Some higher end hotels charge for use of these but this one does not...things you need to remember when thinking of the cost of the room. Totally worth it! We found a cabana....ordered a cocktail and as we were enjoying our blissful afternoon a woman came around with frozen towels....nice touch for a
hot day! The staff here always tries to make you feel at home and happy here and in my opinion you can't get any better. We are still in the process of out stay but I felt compelled to write this review while still here. That says it all......

There is nothing wrong with this hotel however after reading the reviews I was expecting amazing. We were on honeymoon and this was a special part of our trip. The staff are super helpful and friendly, the location amazing and the resturant very good (although not on the roof as the name suggests). However the room we had was very disappointing and looked onto a car park - you could see the sea through the trees (it was a partial sea view) and the doors were falling off the cupboards and sellotape on the windows, although it was kept very clean just really jaded. As very regular world travellers and stay in lots of hotels I would just say the price just did not reflect the room we were in, maybe we were just unlucky :(

Room Tip: Make sure you are not looking over the car park if you are on a partial sea view room

Excellent oceanfront view of Sunset Pier & Sunset Key from balcony in room. Superb room service for breakfast on the balcony with a great morning view. The room was modern, comfortable and quiet once we closed balcony doors & room windows for the night. We tried leaving the balcony doors & windows open after 11 PM, but because we overlooked the pool & Sunset Pier, even after the bar closed, there was noise from workers below emptying trash cans, moving deck chairs, etc. Ocean liners arrived early most mornings. WiFi service was spotty when it worked, but I shouldn't have been trying; after all, it was vacation, not work! We never got around to trying the spa, but we enjoyed the pool & attentive staff there. We would stay here again, but only in this Oceanfront room!

Room Tip: Splurge on the Oceanfront room, on the 4th floor, looking west toward Sunset Key. You'll experie...

This hotel is great. We had a two bedroom suite with an ocean view and it felt like we were at home. Usually I try to stay away from the hotel room as much as possible while on vacation, but towards the end of the week when we were running out of things to do and the ocean was too rough, it was nice to sit in the living room or on the balcony and relax. The location is perfect, at the end of Duval Street where all the action is. We didn't need a rental car or anything.

Room Tip: Ocean view is the way to go

This was our second trip to Key West and our first time at Ocean Key. This hotel is the best place to stay in the Keys!! The location, service, cleanliness, staff, food, and overall experience is by far the best on the island!! We stayed at another hotel last time (next door), but being at the pool and looking at the ocean is superior to any of the other high end hotels! We will definitely stay there from now on when we go to Key West. I can not say one negative thing about the hotel or our experience there.

Room Tip: All the rooms have balconies, so they are all great!! As far as the view, we had ocean and Mallory...

Decided to stay here based on reviews. Upon entering Key West stopped at visitor information and when we told the lady we were staying she literally dropped her jaw. I knew we made the right choice. From the moment we stepped through the door we were treated like royalty. The staff is wonderful and you can tell they really just like their jobs...how many people can say that? Our room overlooked Mallory Square and was a great spot to see the sunsets from. The housekeeping was wonderful. Breakfast on the terrace was peaceful and relaxing. There is not one negative thing to say about this location or property. A bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Stay here, you will not regret it.
