“Great stay!!!”
Reviewed 23 February 2012

We stayed here over Presidents day weekend with my wife. From beginning to end the staff was so very nice. The layout and the cottages/rooms inspired a cozy feeling. The pool was great but who really needs it in Key West. The rooms were modern, the housekeeping on point. This place makes you feel like you're on an island. It had a handsome rooster we named "blue" that loved getting a slice of wheat toast from the continental breakfast they serve every morning. There is a hammock tucked in the back corner with a great view of the stars that was very relaxing for two people. Just a great value play in my opinion. We had room #10, it is in the house that was converted into 8 rooms. Large balcony, small fridge for stuff, safe, beach towels (nice touch), and a ceiling fan which I loved as an option. Just make sure that you take note of the smaller parking lot as it can fill quickly. Just rent a scooter or bike and leave the car parked. We loved this place, and will be back next time we visit.

Supposedly the first motel built in Key West, its two long blocks from Duval on Truman - not really near the middle of the action, but kind of walkable to most sites in Old Town. Pretty far from the Mallory Square scene.

One supposed advantage is that there is parking on the property, but there are not nearly enough spots for the crowd. We had to park on the street most nights, which kind of defeats the purpose of a motel. Since this was built years ago as a motor lodge, there is really no main building - you check in by the building near the pool, then get assigned an individual cabin, or a room in a small building (we had the latter). Slow check in and no luggage help, so we had to drag a big luggage cart across the wood-chip filled parking lot.

Room was decent sized, but we had the deluxe king. Our pals had the deluxe queen, which didn't even have a window. Shower stall only (no tub), small sink, not much room for bathroom materials.

One day we were up early, got back to the room at 2 (room was not serviced), then took a nap until two. When asked if we could get service, we were told the cleaners had left for the day. Hard to believe we are the only people in town taking a nap at 2, but we were handed some clean towels and that was that. At $279 a night, I expect a bit more than that.

The pool was very nice, and the continental breakfast was ok (fruit, breads, cereal, juice, coffee).

If the location was better, I could have dealt with the quirks and provided a higher rating. But I have to think there are better choices in town, especially for the price.

Room Tip: The rooms with a "patio" are not special - the patio is a small privacy fenced in area wit...

My wife and I stayed for three nights at the Key Lime Inn in February, 2012. Overall, we had a very good experience. The location was perfect in that it was walking distance (by our standards) to all major KW attractions. Very quiet -- at least when compared to some other hotels closer to the nightlife -- but it might have helped that we were in an upstairs room. The room itself was quite clean. The bed and pillows were very comfortable, and I'm usually really picky about this aspect of my hotel stays. The staff was quite friendly and helpful.

On the downside, as other reviewers have noted, this inn is not a luxury resort. But it has some dated charm, in a recently renovated sense. I was a bit disappointed that they didn't have parking available when we arrived in the evening -- we were directed to find street parking until spots opened up in the a.m. The following morning, we got a spot on the property, and it didn't turn out to be a big deal, just a minor annoyance. Also, the breakfast was ... OK. It wasn't much -- bagels, muffins, cereal, coffee, orange juice, and apples -- but it was, well, OK.

To sum up, we had a very good stay at the Key Lime Inn and a wonderful stay in Key West. Quite pleased with it overall. I'd certainly stay here again!

Liked our room a lot. #11, upstairs in the Maloney Bldg. It was a distance from the pool and the street...so very very quiet. Lots of pillows and a comfortable bed. Very clean. The private porch had no view except the roof of an adjacent cottage. The morning food offerings were just okay. The pool was clean and nice to use midday, for a respite and refreshment before heading out to the town. Easy wnalking access to all parts of the island located near Duval Street.

Room Tip: Maloney Building second floor.

This INN is just one inch better that a 1950s Motel. We were lead to believe it was quiet because it was not on Duval St. Quiet it wasn't with the rooster crowing 24 hours, the traffic going all night and the church chimes ringing whenever they felt like. It was within walking distance of everything and the front desk staff tried to be helpful. We were given the historic original house which translates 2nd floor walkup. Thankfully thee was someone to help with the luggage but it was a steep climb. The room was spare. The bed was very high and no step stool to help a 5"1' senior citizen climb onto it. There was only one mirror in the room, in the bathroom, tough if it is steamed up when you want to use it. the only place for two people to put their toiletries wad a 2 foor long 4 inch wide shelf above the pedistal sink. One towel rack and one extra towel ring. The shower curtain was sucked into the shower and got in the way. There were paper coffee cups and plastic drinking cups that the maid never replenished. I had to ask the front desk for more. Also there were no facial tissues in the room and they were produced when I asked for them. The buffet breakfast was just awful. The muffins mus have just been defrosted and the butter was rock hard. Everyone crowded around the small area near and by the pool. The rooster was there too waiting for scraps.
Apples were the only fruit. Won't go back.

Just got back from 3 nights and 4 days in Key West.
The room was dated but clean. Noisier than I expected, the person in the next cottage either was an inconsiderate clod OR the door was difficult to close. Which is the most likely scenario since my bathroom door has the same issue. But the door slamming was loud and woke us several times.
Our cottage was close to the rock driveway so we heard all the vehicles coming and going.
For the price, even in expensive Key West, I would expect a little more. The breakfast served by the pool is nice but very minimal. Suited us ok, but some folks expected more.
The staff was very helpful and congenial. The place was clean and very quaint.

We stayed at the Key Lime Inn for our babymoon last weekend. You cannot beat the location.. it is 2 blocks from Duvall Street (where all the action is). We were in one of the free-standing "cottages," which was cute but pretty tiny. It was clean and had all of the necessities. It did not really have a usable patio. Let me add that staying that close to Duvall comes at a price... you can hear traffic outside periodically. Because of that, the resident rooster (who starts crowing at about 4 am), and the church bells across the street, I went to CVS to buy $2 foam earplugs for the A.M. Worked like a charm! It's not really much of a hassle taking into consideration the price (it is pretty reasonable) and the fab location. We would absolutely return.

Room Tip: The rooms are probably quieter the farther away from the road you get.
