So this was our second visit to the Hibiscus. I will still rave about the location and amenities, but there were a couple of dings in it this time around.

My first and really the only gripe is that the front desk staff are a couple of clicks off. I was standing there behind another guest, waiting to check in, for about 10 minutes. One clerk continues to take phone calls as I'm standing there and doesn't ask if she can put anyone on hold. Then her counterpart finishes his phone call and looks at the guest behind me and asks him what he needs. I'm still standing in front of him.... obviously next in line. Kinda bizarre. Otherwise we had a good experience with them as they honored our room request and I must also say that the housekeeping service is flawless.

There are many amenities as I am sure the other reviewers have mentioned: heated pool (probably 84 degrees), pool towels located in the closet, a microwave, a fridge, two separate sink/vanity areas (great if someone is showering and someone wants to primp at the same time), and a free continental breakfast with juices, coffee, bagels and cream cheese, toast, cereal, whole pieces of fruit and breakfast sandwiches although they did not have just an egg and cheese sandwich for vegetarians which I was dismayed at.

We stayed in an upstairs room that has carpeted floors so I don't think it's one of their fully renovated rooms. Nice big beds and a seating area, plus a desk. Unfortunately they have gotten rid of the ample dressers that they used to have, which were great if you were staying for an extended period. Now there is the aforementioned desk with no storage, so that is kinda bunk.

There is an opening window in the bathroom which, to me, is huge nowadays. If you need to get some ventilation going in the room or dry out a bathing suit, the window is key. I hope they don't change that!

The other ding was that we stayed with another couple and their room (also on the 2nd floor) was stank. It smelled strongly of cleaning supplies and just something funky so that was a bit of a turnoff.

The location, to me, is excellent. It's at the quiet end of Duval (one block off Duval on Simonton and United) and it's near the Southernmost Point.

Overall for the price this place is pretty decent. But we might look elsewhere next time....might.

This was our 2nd visit to BW Hibiscus and the motel has done a renovation of the rooms and outside. We had a standard room which was very large for 2 people - has refrig, microwave, 2 chairs & a sink and vanity outside of the bathroom. The windows now have white wooden blinds that look really nice. There is plenty of parking. The pool area is very clean with warm water & alot of lounge chairs and tables.
Free breakfast is provided every morning - its the usual stuff - bagels, cereal, muffins, waffles & they also have Bob Evans (I think) egg sandwiches that you can microwave. Good enough for me for breakfast.
It is about a mile walk up Duval to get to all the action but it is a nice walk with plenty to see on the way. This end of Duval is definitely more quiet - not a bad thing. You can get to most all of the tourist areas on foot without any problem unless you have trouble walking - its all flat in Key West & everything is within 1 or 2 miles.
We will definitely return to BW Hibiscus. Its a great value in Key West in a good location.

Stayed here for 5 nights during our first visit to Key West. Room was large and comfortable. Our request for second floor overlooking pool was honored. The pool was very clean and warm. The breakfast was good but the breakfast area gets crowded so get there early. However, they never ran out of food and the attendant was very attentive. Parking (free) was always available. Front desk staff very helpful. It was very quiet as it was quite a distance from the popular section of Duval St /Mallory Square. Too far to walk late at night so we drove. Only complaint we had was with the 2 computers (in the breakfast area) which were not working well. All in all, a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: There are outdoor corridors so it's best to stay on the pool side.

We stayed here for two nights in April 2012. The hotel is close to all of Key West's main attractions. It is very close to Duvall street and the Southernmost Point in the Continental US. The free breakfast was very delicious. The pool was wonderful. It is eight feet deep which is something I dont find too often at hotels these days. The staff even provided you with a free bag of microwavable popcorn in your room. The rooms have tile in them which was unexpected for a hotel room, but was actually quite nice. You can rent bicycles down the street and ride them around old town. this was a great experience and I would recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Very close to the ocean, but no rooms have a view of it. Would recommend the first floor becuase th...

We stayed here for 2 nights last weekend and it was a very pleasant stay. The hotel staff were very good and friendly. We got one of the recently renovated rooms and I just loved it as soon as I entered. Room facilities were excellent and Wifi was good. The breakfast was very decent with waffles , cereals , muffins and fruits.Coffee was available 24hrs. There were 2 computers available in the common area for people to use internet.Got few coupons from the reception staff for few nearby restaurants.
As such , Key west is a small place and walking around to all the attractions is not a problem at all. This hotel in particular was very good in terms of its proximity to Duval street and the place where all water adventure happens. 15 to 20 mins is what it takes to reach these places. Walking around this Island was in itself was very refreshing and relaxing. But unluckily for us the weather was not too helpful on sunday and it was too windy and sea was rough so all of the water sport adventures were cancelled. So we just rented bikes and roamed around the island as we couldn't do much on this day.
Overall I would recommend this hotel to anyone and am sure to stay in the same place if i visit Keywest once again.

Just returned from a week's stay at the Best Western Hibiscus and would certainly return again and recommend to others. The staff was very friendly and helpful, rooms very large and the entire complext very clean. Always plenty of lounge chairs at the pool, as well as a few tables with umbrellas. It was also very quiet. The continental breakfast was sufficient and they always had coffee available. An easy 10 minute walk to Higgs Beach (which has lounge chairs and umbrellas to rent), and 20 minute walk to the end of Duval. They have plenty of free parking if you do have a car.

This is a great hotel - close to all the action on Duval Street but far enough away to be completely peaceful. Room are a great size, reception staff are friendly and everything is spotlessly clean. The pool is beautiful (the perfect temperature!) and there's plenty of sunloungers. There's also plenty of free parking. We would always stay here when visiting Key West as it's clean, comfortable, quiet and does exactly what it says on the tin. We would recommend it to anyone.

Room Tip: Not really any great views to be had as it's in a residential area so don't bother about the...
