Great place for saving some $$ on Key West. It's nothing fancy but it has everything you need. The NEX & commissary is right across the street from the lodge. Recommend either bikes or a car if staying on Sigsbee though. It is a bit isolated from Duval and the excursion departure areas.

For military-affiliated folks. I'm a retiree and been to Key West several times but never got to stay at the Truman Annex until this trip. One thing to know is that you have to check in at the Fly Navy building at Trumbo first. We had some confusion on that point. There is no check in at Truman Annex.

The suite was just fine: clean and big enough. Water pressure in the shower was the strongest I've experienced in years. Loved that. My only complaint is that the a/c would not go below 75 deg. I suspect that is done on purpose to save the Navy money but it made the room a little too warm. Ceiling fan worked overtime. Left my key cards in the room for checkout so only went to Trumbo once.

There's a very nice beach close by and a fort next door to look at. The Coast Guard boat is nearby (closed on Sundays) and Duval street is a few blocks away which is closer than Trumbo by far.

We had a great 2 night say at the Navy Lodge on Sigsbe Rd in Key West.
99.00 a night 2 beds with a kitchenette. It also includes a free continental breakfast in the lobby! Good drink deals at outdoor bar on base. A real deal and close enough to the high price B and B's and hotels in Key West.
Ondrej, the desk clerk who checked us in was most helpful
with maps where to park downtown and also info regarding discount attractions.

Room Tip: be sure to ask for Sigsbee location

I started coming for the scuba diving. Retired Army and like staying on a base and having guards on the gates.... sleep better at night. PX has small items and reasonably priced. Can't beat these rates and keeps me coming back. Rooms are clean and water is hot,, most you meet are also retired so a few war stories are always good. MWR is one of the military best kept secrets, so check into when you are planing a vacation. Biloxi MS is nice also if you like the casino's.
Planning on diving the Vandenburg this year so should be another great year here.

Don't forget to stop my Ernest Hemingway home and tour Duval Street Abd Jimmy Buffett's original place,, not like Myrtle Beach. Enjoy.
