“Great value & nice location away from the busy downtown”
Reviewed 8 April 2013

We stayed here on Labor day weekend last year. We booked pretty late (about 5 days before the trip) so for being so close to a holiday weekend, it was very affordable. It is a bit away from the hustle & bustle of Duval St, about a 5 minute or less taxi ride. It is near the more commercialized side, Mcdonalds, Pizza Etc. There is also a scooter rental place nearby if you dont want to rent a taxi. The rooms were clean and had the cool tropical netting atop the 4 post bed. There was a little balcony with 2 plastic chairs & a table. A Few of the tiles on the balcony were missing and the AC unit was in the window and took up space. The view was also blocked by huge trees. The pool was nice and you can see the water from there. all & all, its not a 5 star resort, but the value is great & staff is friendly! I would stay again!

This place could bee so good but it seems like they are closing down. The hotel is understaffed, the breakfast buffet is terrible and the place is falling apart. Do not be fooled by the pictures. Yes, it has a great view, but sitting there enjoying it - expecting some silence the nearby pool pump and the air conditions of the rooms are ruining the peace. No WiFi in the rooms and no access to swim even though it looks so. All you have are the remains of what used to be a bathing jetty. No one collected the outdoor mattresses and cushions even though everybody new it was going to rain one day resulting in soaked and useless outdoor sun beds and chairs after the rain. On the day before we left our room was not cleaned. This place could be so great but they simply missed the opportunity. Sad ...

The conditions in which the resor (Banana Bay Resort and Marina in Key West) is deplorable, no classification between any of the star hotel, although the price they are offering is 3 stars, $ 340.00 dollars a night for a suite room for 4 people, rooms need urgent repair, remodeling complete, carpet, windows, air conditioning, walls, architecture and general infrastructure, water systems and health, Electric, in Finally, this to close, the smell in the room, because moisture escapes and constant water leaks in health services, beds uncomfortable and hard, broken and uncomfortable sofa bed and smelly, outdoor areas completely deteriorated and abandoned, danger in outdoor areas, very close to the edge of the bay without adequate protections, there are no security systems, in short, a rather Bay Beach, where nobody cares about anything, there is nothing, Banana Bay found in ruins!

Banana Bay Resort and Marina in Key West, should not be closed? Seeking information offsite, I say take eight months, rebuilding the main access road to the resort as well as many others, who are injured, in a project that will run in three years, which shall entail the remodeling of the Resort (Banana Bay), my humble opinion, because no longer works start, the conditions in which the resort is deplorable, no classification between any of the star hotel, although the price they are offering is 3 stars, $ 340.00 dollars a night for a suite room for 4 people, rooms need urgent repair, remodeling complete, carpet, windows, air conditioning, walls, architecture and general infrastructure, water systems and health, Electric, in Finally, this to close, the smell in the room, because moisture escapes and constant water leaks in health services, beds uncomfortable and hard, broken and uncomfortable sofa bed and smelly, outdoor areas completely deteriorated and abandoned, danger in outdoor areas, very close to the edge of the bay without adequate protections, there are no security systems, in short, a rather Bay Beach, where nobody cares about anything, there is nothing, not communicating.

As a customer, deceived and cheated, I have sold a installation for 2 nights 3 star or 2 and a half which has none, the room with terrible musty smell, hard bed, sofa bed broken and uncomfortable and very bad smell after driving 120 miles in a narrow and dangerous road, while surrounded with a beautiful view of the sea, reaching a facility, which has three miles before, has broken its main access road, resulting stressful for tourists arriving tired of 3 hour trip, found a spring (Banana Bay and Marina) in total ruins, and above pay over $ 340.00 a night, I is the biggest scam that he can sell to a customer over to put a sign in the outside of the hotel there are no vacancies, in the eyes of clients with a holding at 100% capacity, really who are they kidding, well not return to Key West at least 5 years to see if really finished the restoration and renovation of all its resorts.
General Opinion: Please do not cause more harm to customers, close that facility, the place is beautiful, it is damaging irreversibly, saved the installation, build a beautiful resort, comfortable, new and above all take into account provided excellent customer service I am sure that your investment will be recovered and benefit in a few months.

My family and I stayed one night on March 13. The room appeared to be clean and the bed spread was decent, at least it was cotton coverings and not those awful polyester bedspreads. The hallways and common areas are in serious need of updating, a little paint and new carpeting would go along way. The grounds have potential but it will take work, lots of work, and I don't see that happening any day soon. I would not stay there again.

We stayed one night and it was the one of the best hotel i stayed.Nice breakfast and beautiful waterfront. Also we enjoyed waterfront and took some memorable pictures.

Only one issue is road construction in front of the hotel, one way and hard to comeback.

I stayed here a year ago with my family and still have not had my issues resolved. I paid $250 a night and it was one of the worst hotel experiences I had. The first night I stayed, I did not have hot water and the toilet would not flush. When I called for assistance, I was told the front desk was closed and I would have to wait until the morning to get it fixed. So cold shower it was and a non working toilet for the night. First thing in the morning, I went to the front desk to tell them what happened and I was asked "Is it working now?". Appears to be but that does not fix the problem from last night. I was told there was nothing that could be done since it was working now. I asked that it be written down so I could reference this incident in the future. If it was not Labor Day weekend, i would have gone to another hotel right then and there but there were no rooms available. The problems continued on and when I complained at check out I was told I had to take the issue up with EXPEDIA as they were the ones it was booked through!!
Almost a year later and I have yet to get a call back from a manager, after I left multiple messages. I even wrote a letter and I did not hear anything back. This hotel is in a beautiful spot and has tons of potential but the customer service is the worst I have ever experienced. I am a server and if I had ever treated a guest the way I was treated, I would have been fired on the spot. Unreal.

Room Tip: Pick a room at a different hotel.
