“If you don't need an ocean view room, this is the place to go”
Reviewed 11 August 2011

The hotel is on the east side of the key about 1 mile from the airport. It's inside some residential complex with other vacation rentals. If you are not driving, there is a free shuttle service running on the hour several times a day to the downtown of Key West. The service is great, so is the breakfast. The hotel has complimentary airport shuttle, but our flight was early in the morning and the driver didn't come. The front desk staff even offered us free taxi ride to the airport. Compared with other chain hotels on the island, this Doubletree has the lowest price (due to its location). So if you don't care about the ocean view from your room, because you've enjoyed the ocean a lot during the day, this is a good option to fit your budget.

My boyfriend stayed here for 2 nights as part of our vacation in the Florida Keys. I am a Hilton Diamond member and used points to book our stay in a standard room. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a suite and given 2 tasty chocolate chip cookies. Our suite was huge, impeccably clean and equipped with a full kitchen. The beds and linens were very comfortable, we had no issues w noise from other rooms. Toiletries are by Neutrogena, We had rented a car but took advantage of the hotels' shuttle service to Duval Street to avoid parking issues. The breakfast spread is large and features delicious typical American cuisine. We spent more time in our room than we usually do on vacation because it was so nice at the Doubletree.

The Doubletree is not smack in the middle of downtown, which I loved. Upon checking in, Katrina at the front desk was more than helpful by watching out for my rental bike being dropped off and how long it would take to make my room ready. She was friendly and knowleageable. Then down to the pool bar to get a drink and a bite while I waited. Both Fred and Billy the Greek were so friendly, attentive and gave excellent service. I went to the concierge desk and was advised by Melissa which boating excursion I should take and recommended danger charters out of the Westin marina (the trip was amazing and reasonable priced). Everyone from the laundry people to the valets made eye contact, asked me if I needed anything and were super helpful. I have not been to Key West in almost 20 years, so their knowledge was invaluable in helping me plan my stay. Jorge at the front desk and the valet scrambled to make sure I had a freshly laundered towel for my sailing adventure! The food was really good, the breakfast had the fluffiest eggs and the bacon was the good, thick, applewood smoked type. Cold water with citrus fruit was available in the lobby all day and fresh coffee offered first thing the in morning. My room was clean save for one spot on the carpet and a slight tear in the sheers behind the curtain, it was just what I needed for my solo trip.

My husband and I did a short trip to Key West in January of this year. We hoped to escape some cold weather. It was warmer than our home state but still not as warm as I expected. That really didn't matter because we had a great trip. The Doubletree Resort was very nice and very accomodating. They gave out absolutely delicious, warm, chocolate chip cookies at check in and actually anytime you wanted to come to the desk and ask for them. The staff at the desk were always super nice. We flew into Key West and didn't rent a car. We took the hotel shuttle down to the main part of Key West and spent the entire day walking the city. The Butterfly Conservatory is worth every cent you pay to see it. It was wonderful, so many different colors and types of Butterflies lighting on you and flying around. We enjoyed our tour of Hemingways house and the six toed cats, the Little Whitehouse tour was also interesting. This is a very easy city to see on foot. I recommend this even for a quick trip. We only stayed two nights but the Doubletree was a great home base for everything we wanted to do and see.

Doubletreee Grand Key Resort is an average hotel rather used as a conference center than the stay for your wedding anniversary or honeymoon.

The hotel is not located about 4 miles from central Key West. There is no beach around the hotel. A free shuttle service every hour to Key West serves various locations. Will get busy at peak hour.

Free parking on the hotel property. Use the free shuttle if possible, parking in Key West can be hard.

Beds were good but rooms did not offer anything spectacular. The hygien products made available was fresh.

The breakfast was very poor and would not suit Europeans.

Swimming pool was tiny and crowded. Prefer to take the car to Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park were the beach was good and fantastic snorkeling facilities was offered.

Housekeeping kept on bugging us knocking the door.

+ Free parking
+ Shuttle service
+ Good beds

- Poor breakfast
- Swimming pool
- House keeping

Did not try the internet connection.

Only staying at Doubletree Grand Key Resort to a discounted rate make it worth the money. I'd probably try a different hotel when returning to Key West.

NOTE TO DISABLED GUESTS: Doubletree Grand Key Resort is wheelchair accessable.

This was our second stop on a 2 week Florida fly drive holiday. We stayed for 2 nights and were very impressed - definitely the nicest hotel of the 2 week stay! Staff were great - cookies were awesome! Bus into town was great fun and it was really funny to see Americans getting a bit drunk and rowdy on their 'Spring break'! Key West seems to be America's party town - more so than Vegas! There was a really good atmosphere and we would recommend the sunset party boat to anyone. $50 for food, drink (although I did get asked for id at 32 years of age! ;) and disco with the amazing sunset as a backdrop!
The hotel pool was really nice too. We ate in the restaurant one night and had spicy shrimp wraps which were tasty. Would highly recommend this hotel!

We stayed with our kids on July 23. We were lucky to find this family room in Key West as according to expedia it was the only one left. We paid full price. The hotel warned us it was a smoking room. Too bad for us. It smell bad but we were warned. Here is the review:

1. location is far from the action. You definitely need a car or use the not so convenient bus service.

2. The rooms are decent. Reasonably clean but zero personality. Chain feeling. Good beds. The day we arrived they had forgotten to change the sheets. it was fixed quickly.

3. Staff is nice, helpful and efficient.

4. Breakfast was excellent.
