My husband and I, along with our three-year-old, stayed at this hotel in mid February, 2005. The hotel itself is adequate, and the room was nice. We had the complimentary breakfast buffet included with our room. It was nice to sit out on the patio and enjoy breakfast, which was again nothing special but adequate. This hotel is off the beaten path, and the hotel shuttle was "interesting". The first time we attempted to go to downtown Key West we were piled into a van with quite a few other people, wall-to-wall bodies, one of which needed a new deoderant. Apparently the hotel had not anticipated the demand for shuttles that day, even though they were booked full. We loved Key West itself, and found it to be not as dirty as we had been led to believe. Sure, there are a few homeless people hanging around, but no one bothered us in the least. Santa Monica, CA was far worse in that respect! The sunset thingy down at the wharf was almost impossible to do with a three-year-old. You have to choose a spot early on, and then just camp there and drink. Not possible with a three-year-old on the wharf, what with the open water and all! But, overall, we saw very few children in Key West. We enjoyed a great seafood meal on the wharf at A&B Seafood Company, the best of our entire trip. We also took a Danger Cruise, it was fantastic and the highlight of all our excursions. The beaches in Key West are a little rocky, but we still had fun lounging. We rented a couple of scooters, and had a ball. I would recommend the Doubletree hotel if you're not looking to stay down in the middle of all the action. We walked (complete with stroller) down to Smathers Beach one day, and it was quite a hike, but scenic. We caught the shuttle back. Again, I recommend the Doubletree as long as you're not looking for the "all-night-party, typical Key West" experience.

We have just returned from a week at the Doubletree Grand Key Resort. This hotel was wonderful. It was so peaceful that it was hard to drag ourselves away from the hotel to go to Duval street. The staff was friendly & helpful. We had a superior pool view with 2 queen beds. The room was bright, clean and quiet. The breakfast buffet was delicious. As for the location, we loved being away from the crowds. Duval street is a nice place to visit for a few hours, but unless you are used to having a beer can stuck to your hand, you will be happy to find some peace and quiet at the end of the day. We have 2 children and they loved the pool, gift shop and the shuttle rides. This is a great resort for families or couples. I really can't say enough about this place. If we ever get back to key west, this is where we will stay.

My husband and I stayed here in Feb. 2005 for 2 nights, it was a nice hotel but balcomy overlooks condo complex. They charged $10 per day to park here as well. Too far from Duval Street, have to take shuttles on their schedule, cab rides are $15. If you stay here drive your own car to Duval and park in garage for $20.

I was rather skeptical when we booked our stay at The Grand Key Resort.
However was so pleased with the hotel that I would most definitely
recommend this property. There was mention about the hotel being
far from all the action but the shuttle is so convenient and never made
us feel removed. The pool is to die for especially when you need a
break from the crowds. The only draw back was that we were in a
room on the back side near the receiving door and one moring there
was a delivery truck backing up at our balcony at 3:30 A.M !!!! Get a
room either pool side or in the lower # range. Enjoy!!!

Stayed in early february and loved it. The staff were all very nice and helpful. The hotel property is clean, well maintained, and relatively new. The only drawback is the location, although they run a free shuttle to get you into town. Definitely would stay there again.
