Casa Marina Key West, A Waldorf Astoria Resort

Staying at Casa Marina was a thoroughly enjoyable experience. While neither my room nor the bathroom were particularly spacious, they were clean and comfortable. The resort, like Key West generally, is low rise and blends nicely with the beautiful waterfront location. Bike rentals were inexpensive and provided easy transportation and and free parking, everywhere in Key West, a bike friendly city. I was there three days and enjoyed the food, the helpful and knowledgeable staff, and the many places where one could relax around the resort. I look forward to coming back.

My wife and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Casa Marina. We encountered none of the problems some other reviewers talk about (dilapidated rooms, noisy guests). We found The facilities to be beautiful and well-maintained. The staff friendly and competent. We liked our ocean view balconied bedroom (see photo). We slept with the balcony door open to enjoy the sound of the ocean and the fresh ocean breezes. The food is delicious and served overlooking the beach and ocean. Indeed, lunch and drinks are brought to you on the beach so you don't need to leave your lounge chair. By the way whenever you arrive on the beach just find one of the friendly beach staff and he will bring you lounge chairs and towels and set them up for you where you want. So no problem with their running out or waking up early to reserve lounge chairs as happens at too many other Caribbean resorts we've been to. Downtown and then the harbor area is a mile or two away and easy to get to. There were three large cruise ships in port the day we went to the harbor so I was glad we were on the opposite end of the island. There are two other nice restaurants on the beach within a few blocks if you don't feel like traveling at all for dinner. Really, the only disappointment was all the coral at the ocean's edge so few were swimming in the ocean. I gather the coral is present throughout Key West beaches. The pools were heated and fine. At night we enjoyed sitting around the fireboxes with drinks and chatting with other guests and visitors.

Jan & Robin at the Bar are super sweet. Carlos & Patrick at front desk always recall our names and very polite. Beach crew Mark, Austin and Bob make our days on the beach so relaxing. Spa lady Garccela never has a bad day. These are the reasons we love to return to Casa for the past 25 years.

Room Tip: Always choose the one bedroom suites rooms. Book early.

We love the Casa Marina, as well as the sister property The Reach. What a wonderful relaxing place with lots to do as well as comfort in doing nothing but relaxing. There are two large pools, great for lap swimming or relaxing. For adults without the children, it is nice that children are invited to use just one pool; it works well for all. Great location.

Great vacation. Not sure where some of the bad reviews are coming from? These people couldn't possibly be reviewing the same hotel because our trip was nothing short of perfection. I am a Hilton and Marriott rewards business traveler and just stayed 4 nights at the Casa Marina after choosing the Marriott Beachside last year. Couldn't be happier with this hotel and will return next year-or sooner. Great customer service from the minute we stepped onto the property. Bell stand, valet, front desk, every person we encountered, went out of their way and provided top-notch customer service. Every staff member we met was pleasant and accommodating. The housekeeping, restaurant, pool and beach staff were great - these guys ran ALL day. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite ocean/pool view in the newer section. The suite has a dining area as well as a sectional couch and the extra room was well worth the expense. We opted not to have our room serviced and when we called for towels each day we had them within minutes. Same with room service--arrived within the hour and with a smile. Nothing but good things to say about Casa Marina. The pool area is clean and well-kept, and the beach was clean and the largest on the island, and there were always plenty of chairs. To be sure to get a chair, stop at the beach/pool by 9 and see the staff and request some chairs -- it is high season and it does get busy. See Barefoot Billy's on site to rent bikes for the duration of the vacation, and use them to get around town. For the perfect Key West vacation, have a drink at Sunset Pier, book the Appledore V schooner for a small intimate morning champagne sail -- and have dinner at Louie's Backyard and breakfast at Latitudes. Patrick, Steven, Vincent, Austin, Mark (I wish I could name them all) -- thanks for a great vacation.

Room Tip: Ocean/pool view rooms are worth the extra expense

We arrived last Monday and were given room 1003 or 103 can't remember which. Overlooked a nasty parking lot and the "spa" was in the room next to us. I woke early in the morning to the spa receptionist setting up appointments at the desk outside of our room. The elevator was located there as well and in use constantly. They had no business offering this as a room and the front desk agreed. We asked for any other room -would pay more- but they were booked up. We promptly packed our bags, rented a car and drove to SOBE where the beaches and water are amazing and plenty of hotels. Had a 200.00 dinner which was very good(but shouldn't it be for 2 adults and one child?)The hotel looked at bit dingy and it set the tone when our taxi pulled up and no one was there to unload our bags...first site was a redneck in a wife beater t shirt pouring his Bud from a can into a plastic cup so he could enjoy while he walked down the street. I guess he was a rich redneck....never going back to Key West!

Starting with check in, Casa Marina missed the mark. We arrived at 5:20pm and our room wasn't ready. We waited at the check in desk for about 45 minutes before the room was ready, making us late in meeting people. While we were given a $100 credit, it shouldn't have happened. The room wasn't made up each day until we left for dinner… housekeeping seems to be on a very odd schedule. The service by the pool was lacking… I had to flag down waitresses while they should have made rounds asking if anybody needed anything. The "adults pool" wasn't enforced and children were allowed. This was by no means a high end hotel… if you expect "common", stay here.
