The Reach Key West, A Waldorf Astoria Resort

After checking into another resort, my husband and I found The Reach while desperately looking for another place to spend our second night in Key West. The Reach front lobby staff was welcoming and courteous, but also genuine. We reserved a room and checked in the next morning (after a horrible night at another resort). Although our room was not ready when we arrived, the bell hop swooped up our bags and stored them for us. We were advised that we were welcomed to use their facility for the day and that we would get a call when our room was ready. We went for breakfast to Blue Heaven (terrific eggs benny w/lobster, go if you get the chance) and then returned to facility. The pool was clean and cool, the beach was awesome! Carlos and Freddie at the beach provided outstanding service with a great big giant smile! Shout out to Carlos and Freddie...woot woot!!! When our room was ready, it was clean and up to date. Refridgerator, safe, and a comfy cozy bed...what more could a weary traveler ask for. We rode a harley in from Miami... so that bed was a gift! I would definately go back to The Reach...it was such a great time, surrounded by great people...employees and other guests included!!

Only drawback....you need to pay extra for parking...and drinks are costly!

The Reach lobby was a good start with friendly staff and contemporary surroundings. Our room was very comfortable and well laid out with a Nespresso espresso machine! The location and pool area were great but be sure to ask about the "resort fee" which is automatically tacked onto your bill. Seemed like a rip off as though the hotel was lovely, it did not rise to such a fabulous level to warrant the extra $25 day.

I am glad you were able to enjoy your stay and we were able to provide the warm welcome which we intend for each of our guests. Our daily resort fee was implemented in favor of several incidental charges such as fitness center access, resort wide high-speed internet, beach chairs, towels and umbrellas, daily New York Times, and pool concierge service including: popsicles, drink of the day samples, and a frozen face cloth. Should you or your families’ travels have you return to the southernmost point, please let me know so that I may assist with your accommodations.

All the best,

We stayed for 3 nights in May 2011 at the Casa Marina - a sister property. Clean and very relaxing. Great service - friendly staff. There are also children's activities and our 7 year old daughter loved it. A special shout out to Fred ( at "The Reach") and his manager for going out of the way and taking care of us. Thx guys for helping out our kids with the crafts and starfish painting & setting up spots on the beach.

This review really isn't about the hotel. it is about the beach service AT the hotel. Day one of our vacation we met Riccardo early in the evening. He was super friendly, knowledgeable, and very funny. We told him we would be back on the beach early the next morning and to our surprise (4 of us total), Riccardo had four chairs out on the beach with tables between them and 2 umbrellas up waiting for us. This may not sound like a big deal but the chairs have to be physically brought out for each guest and the umbrellas have to have a spot dug for them in the sand EACH time they are moved!! We also met Fred on this day as well who was just as wonderful! Riccardo and Fred were amazing! They were so attentive and NOT overbearing at all. They seemed to know when we needed anything at all. They served us frozen face clothes and popsicles as the temperature climbed and were always willing to help us move our umbrellas to provide the most shade and our chairs were always covered with towels and they would MAKE towel headrests for us. They were also knowledgeable on the happenings on the island and would rib us daily as our arrival time to the beach got later and later each day (alcohol induced from the night before!). Overall, this was the best beach service I have ever received. The four of us have decided BASED ON THE BEACH SERVICE that we will return again next year at the same time and stay at the Reach resort again! Thank you Riccardo and Fred, you made our whole trip!

It's a few blocks from "the soup," but we had a great time at The Reach, and especially at the well-staffed natural sand beach. Ricardo (think George Lopez), who works the beach is a real gem -- he's personable, funny, and took care of our every need. He knew just when to bring me a popsicle, a piece of cool fruit or an icey cold washcloth. Thanks for making our stay memorable, Ricardo!
We stayed in an ocean view boutique suite, and the beds and pillows were super comfy. We didn't eat at the on-site restaurant because there are just so many great spots to try at Key West, but the breakfast buffet was nice. Ambrosia is a super fabulous sushi restaurant at the Santa Maria (the Reach's sister property next door) -- even my friend from San Francisco was blown away! I highly recommend it.

Room Tip: get a room on a high floor for best sea view

Wow. It sounds like Ricardo really did provide you with exceptional personalized service. He was able to showcase our most popular amenity, our natural sand beach and pool, and all the services which we provide. Although not located at our sister property the Casa Marina, Ambrosia is certainly one of the best sushi restaurants around and only located steps from our front door. I will be sure to share your kind words with Ricardo and our entire beach staff.

In celebration of my birthday, we stayed at the Reach for one night. Our check-in was easy and welcoming as was the birthday basket in our room. The ambiance by the pool and restaurant area is laid back and the staff in the gift/coffee shop is very friendly and helpful. Since this was Memorial Day weekend and we booked late, our room did not have the view we would have preferred. However, it was quiet, spacious, and decent value for a holiday weekend.
