We stayed at The Reach and were very pleased. The staff is very accommodating and made our stay much more enjoyable. Fantastic views and excellent meals. Loved dining outside and watching the sunsets.

The Reach has a perfect location at the quiet end of Duval street. You can enjoy a beautiful stay just on the resort (the beach and pool area are lovely). But, a five minute walk has you shopping and eating on Duval street and there is lots to do in Key West.

Pros: Location just a couple blocks from Duval Street. However, if you are looking for the party crowd, it is on the other end of Duval, about 1 mile away. It was a Pro for us because we liked the quiet. Clean. Friendly staff. Concierge service was helpful in as sting with tours and good local restaurants. Small refrigerator in the room. Nice supply of soft, thick towels. There is a pool and small beach area. Not many places have both and there just aren't a lot of beaches in Key West, that we found, anyway. New York Times delivered to your room. Turn down service and chocolates at night. Pool chairs were nice and pool attendants were very helpful. Beach towels are available.
Cons: $20 per day for self parking, $30 for valet. Expensive drinks. $15 for a glass of wine. $7 for a beer. Espresso machine in the room, instead of coffee. Blech! The bathroom in our room was very small. Impossible to go in and do anything without closing the door first so you could actually turn around. During our stay the hotel was nowhere near being full, but we were given a room over the garage. No view of the courtyard, pool, or ocean. We couldn't even see the street out our balcony because of the vegetation. Not what I would expect, especially for a Hilton Honors member. The second night of our stay we came back from dinner to find that neither of our keys worked. So, back through the maze of corridors and through the courtyard to the front desk only to discover that they had been deactivated due to an issue with their computer not accepting my credit card.

Overall, if think it is a nice place. Everything in the touristy areas of Key West is expensive, so this is no exception. It just wasn't exactly what I expected for my money.

Room Tip: Make sure your room doesn't overlook the garage!

A group of 12 of us just returned from a vacation in Key West. The hotel was beautiful. Our room was very nice and the location of the hotel was very convenient and the view was breath taking. The entire staff was very friendly, especially Ricardo, Kris K., and Kris P. They always had our chairs ready on the beach and were very accommodating. I would stay there again in a heart beat!! Thanks for a great vacation!

Personally, when I think of a resort I think of an exclusive, high-end property. The Reach has a small, very nice, exclusive beach. However, I don't consider the rooms to be resort quality.

The positives: friendly and helpful staff, clean room, balcony with two chairs and a nice view, newspaper delivered each day, robes in the closet (if you like that kind of a thing), great pool area, private beach and pier, hammocks hanging between palm trees, giant outdoor chess game on the grounds, on site restaurant if the many local restaurants aren't enough, nice gift shop, close to Duval Street.

The negatives: A confusing set up. You have to wander outside walkways to find your room. I've always heard it said that hotels have interior hallways and room entrances, whereas motels have exterior walkways and room entrances. By this definition The Reach is a motel. I saw more than one person wandering the walkways with a confused look as they searched for their room. If you stay there long enough you'll figure it out. The rooms are also not that quiet. I often heard voices and closing doors from those staying around me. My room didn't have a coffee machine. Instead, there was an espresso machine. There were no drawers in which to place clothing.

Overall, this is a nice property. Like I said earlier, when I booked a room at a resort - a Waldorf Astoria at that - I expected more of a resort quality hotel than what I experienced. Compared to many of the other properties that I saw around the island, I will say this is probably one of the nicest.

Room Tip: Not all rooms overlook the beach or hotel grounds. Some overlook the parking garage.

First, the bad - the room is nicely appointed, but small, and getting to the room is like going through an outdoor maze. But the property is right on the beach, and it is a short walking distance to its sister property, Casa Maria, (another very nice property), and to all the action and restaurants on Duvall Street. Most importantly, we felt like we received the full Waldorf treatment from everyone on the staff. We want to give special recognition to our beach attendant Ricardo, he was very pleasant, and extremely attentive.

Room Tip: try to get a room near an elevator or you'll have to walk through a maze of corridors.

This hotel was wonderful. The private beach was beautiful and very relaxing. Be sure and try the Lobster Bisque Soup at The Strip restaurant. We liked it so much we went back 3 times. The staff was great and very accomodating. The hotel itself is within walking distance of Duvall street which had everything for everybody. We will definetly come back again.
