“2 days holiday stay in Key West”
Reviewed 25 April 2014

Well located hotel with nice private beach within walking distance to the shopping and restaurant areas of key west. Due to spring break hotel was fully booked and pool area was very crowded. Outer appearance i.e. floors, parking, elevators not impressive. One main elevator was out of order during our entire stay. Rooms are large and quite, air conditioning works well. Limited storage facilities (cupboards). Wardrobe installed inside bathroom.

I had booked the one bedroom suite for our stay In key West...during previous visits we have stayed at Casa Marina but unfortunately the hotel was not available this time so we decided on The Reach... ..We arrived a the resort at 3pm with our room not ready....Once room was ready we immediately noticed we were directly above the banquet room....thanks to reading reviews here on trip advisor I knew that rooms near the weddings were a definite noise issue...we went back down to the front desk and I mentioned that I heard wedding noise was an issue and were any weddings going to be on during our stay. One of the managers, Jennifer, checked into it for us and I have to say handled it in a very efficient and professional manner. She changed us temporarily to a room at the back of the hotel (minus noise) at a significant discount in price....We came home from dinner that evening to the wedding noise and I was SO HAPPY we changed. The speakers were directly next to the room and we could hear the wedding from most vantage points of the hotel. We would not have enjoyed staying in that room at all!!!
The next day we were moved to our original room which was very clean quiet and lovely...the guys working down at the pool and beach were always working hard setting us up nicely in chairs and making sure umbrellas provided shade...would still prefer Casa Marina (although their rooms are not as big and updated as the Reach) but the employees like manager Jennifer and guys by the pool make this resort more than just a sister resort to Casa Marina...altogether a pretty decent stay.

The hotel grounds are intimate, even quaint. Our children loved the beach and the pool, and the lay-out was very convenient and family-friendly. The food at the restaurant was ok, but the deck overlooks the ocean and compensates for that. The rooms themselves are the biggest drawback: they look like rooms from an old motel that someone tried to renovate--complete with the original furniture (except the bed, very comfortable). We might stay again just because of the ease with the children and the close location to town, but I really wish they'd update the rooms!

Great location, but priced accordingly! A good hotel but not brilliant. On arrival, advised room not available until 4pm, contacted after 4pm to advise it was ready. Given check out is 11 am, found this a bit disappointing. On two days of our stay our room was not serviced until well into the afternoon, with one afternoon requiring a phone reminder that it had not been done.
That aside, concierge service was very attentive.
Hotel layout was more motel style, than would have expected, with lifts a good distance from many rooms. Didn't dine at resort during stay, though there was a restaurant on site, which during our stay, didn't appear to be very well patronised.

Room Tip: Trip advisor pics would lead one to believe rooms are practically waterside, which they are not! Ou...

I stayed at the hotel for several days in April with my family, it is well located in Key West and an easy walk to the tourist hotspots. The hotel is clean and the rooms are quite generous in size.

Staff are very friendly and accommodating.

Beds are really comfortable.

The breakfast is not cheap but very generous in variety and portions. The hotel restaurant "strip house" is exceptionally good for a hotel but is again it is pricy. Beware the Tip it is added into the check at 18.5% so avoid double tipping.

The "strip house" was able to cook my son Gluten free food without any issue.

We tried one of the alleged top restaurants in Key West "Nine One Five, the hotel restaurant was so much better in every respect.

The gym at the hotel is well equipped, the stationary bike does not have the TV viewing option like the other equipment. Free cold water and towels.

In the center court of the hotel facing the Sea is a really nice swimming pool which is not over chlorinated, comfortable pool loungers but be aware the really comfortable beds by the pool are NOT free and nobody ever uses them, make them free. There are free activities like oversize chess and Boules.

WIFI is not free, it should be.

The hotel charges a premium for Sea facing views but really since you out most of the time it really makes no difference having a Sea view.

The only negative are the toilets, unlike other hotels they at the The Edge they tended to block extremely easily, ours blocked 3 times. The hotel fixed the blockage with five minutes each time and was equipped with all the right equipment for toilets which makes me think this a not an uncommon situation.

The hotel has one of the very few hotels apparently with a white sandy beach on the Island. The Sea provides very safe swimming, the sea bed is flat for about 100 meters from the waters edge and the waves are tiny with no noticeable current on the day . The Sea Water is refreshingly warm and great for swimming but not clear enough to snorkel.

A good choice for a hotel.

Very friendly welcome at lobby and attended like a regular.

Room rather small (they misname it "open plan suite") and hot due to noisy inefficient A/C).

Really nice architecture of hotel and garden, making you feel home and cozy, despite the size.

Pool service superb, pool rather smallish, pool area's rest rooms smelly. Good beach access to small sandy beach. Unfortunately too many (hotel organized) jet skis spoil the swimming in the ocean for their exhaust fumes, noise and sometimes by passing nearby!

Its steakhouse very pricey but worth it!

Overall very relaxing and pleasant, but not to be compared with similar priced resorts outside of KW.

Only stayed here one night but out experience was fairly good.

Check in wasn't great. The man who checked us in barely made conversation and generally didn't present a good vibe.

We weren't helped with our bags from the car park or at the front door which was also disappointing.

Our room was nice and we had a beach view from the balcony.
Nice pool and a very short stroll to the sand.

Overall, it was a pleasant stay but the service needs improvement - especially considering the nightly rate to stay here.
