We choose this hotel for the price and closeness to Duval street. My group was two couples who wanted to come to key west to scuba dive and explore the island. The rooms were well kept and clean. There is a full bathroom and then another vanity with sink outside of the bathroom. overall a great place.

By the time my wife and I got to Mallory Square that Monday, the sunset had just ended. Hence we decided to stay overnight to catch Tuesday's sunset edition. We were informed by the folks at the Key West Information Center that it was the first day of college Spring Break and every hotel and every room is pretty much booked, and, at 8:30PM, this motel was the only option we got at $179++. By the time we checked-in, parking was beyond full [contrary to what we had been promised] thus we had to pay for on-street parking, the place was loud and noisy, and the room was unimpressive. Yes, bad timing perhaps, but still, we believe it [ALONG WITH EVERY OTHER ACCOMODATION KEY WEST HAS TO OFFER] is overpriced by, say, $70 to $80 compared to the value we got in return. Nonetheless, the motel was kind enough to let us leave our car in their parking lot ["honey, finally, a spot just opened!!!!!"] after we checked out as we wanted to go on foot to check out the beach and sunset the next day. Oh well....

What can I say? This motel was cute, freshly painted, extremely clean. The staff was friendly, especially Chuck at the front desk who seemed to be there 27 hrs a day. The breakfast was okay--coffee/tea, juice, toast, small pastries. It was close to Duval St (although quite a hike to Mallory Square--the solution is to stop in the various quirky bars along the way to have a refreshment). The pool was great--when you are in it, you're really not aware that it is surrounded by the parking lot. Very, very clean place. BTW, we did NOT have a large, new TV in our room like some of the others, just a 26" regular one but we weren't there to watch TV.

Excellent place to stay , best value in the keys. Friendly Staff, great location near the Southernmost Point , beach, Butterfly Conservatory (a must see). and just off the quiet end of Duval St. Parking included a must in Key West. Basic continental breakfast, coffee , juice , danish, toast. But several restaraunts near by serving a full breakfast at reasonable price.
Marques the manager at the reception desk was friendly and helpful, with discount coupons for everything. i was tempted to keep this place a secret , but they deserve the business.

We stayed here just before Xmas 2008 for 3 nights. The hotel has been recently repainted- see pic. Rooms were great, quiet, but a couple of blocks only from the sea, and also from the action of Duval Street.

Check in was no problem, and nor was parking- which can be an issue depending where you stay in Key West. The pool was warm and fabulous. Rooms were spacious, good aircon, and fridge provided. Not a cookie cutter motel, but seriously on a par or better than most chain motels.

The only minor negative is if Iyou want a good breakfast this is not the palce to go- coffee and a donut is about all you should expect.

When I started looking for a place to spent a couple of nights, most hotels immediately drove me away with either price, distance to the center of Key West, or TripAdvisor reviews. Hotels seem to be either very expensive, even more so on weekends, far in the eastern parts of Key West (close to the airport, or on the Overseas Highway) or poorly maintained. Since I'm an international tourist, just driving down the Keys hoping for a room didn't work for me - I wanted to know what I'm getting - the Blue Marlin has website that allowed a glimpse at the motel and online reservation.
I found the Blue Marlin to be a well maintained motel, with a very friendly and helpful staff, clean room and - this is important in the center of Key West - free onsite parking - finding a parking space can be adventureous in the heart of Key West. The furniture and buildings seem a little out-dated, but the place is well maintained, so I had no second thoughts about staying.
What I liked most is the proximity to all attractions. Duval St starts a block away, Mallory Square can be reached on foot in about 15-20minutes, just walking up Duval St. No car necessary, renting a bike (easily available in all of Key West) is an alternative to walking. Similarly, Fort Zachary Taylor State Park with a beautiful beach is within driving or 20+minute walking distance - I didn't move my car at all over the course of three days. If walking doesn't sound appealing to you now, wait until you arrive, Key West is different...
Maps of all Key West attractions are available at the front desk. Vending machines are available onsite, my room had a small refridgerator and microwave oven. Internet access however is not available.
If you're just looking to relax, there is a large pool on the property.
I would definetly recommend staying here, if you're looking for something a little more upscale, try the Southernmost Hotel next door, or one of the numerous small-scale hotels (if you manage to find them, but there are plenty on and around Duval St). If you arrive by car, don't wait until the last minute to find a parking space, if the hotel is fully booked there may not be enough parking.

Blue Marlin is typically priced for a room in Key West. Our room was on the second floor, quite large with 2 beds and a TV on the wall. Microwave (with popcorn! ) and small fridge is in the room. Water pressure in the shower was lacking, although it did rinse the shampoo out of my hair. The parking is right outside of the room, and the pool is elevated in the middle of the parking lot. The continental breakfast was not the greatest – orange juice, coffee, mini-muffins and toast. We chose to walk to the Denny’s on Duvall Street instead. The pool was warm, and very few people took advantage of it. This hotel is close enough to walk to Duvall Street, as well as Mallory Square – a must –see at sunset.
Next time, I’ll probably choose a different hotel, although I have no complaints about this one.
