We enjoyed our stay at the Speakeasy Inn. Staff was great, very accommodating, and the price was reasonable. Rooms were nice and clean. Beds were comfortable, nice linens. Room had a mini fridge with a few bottles of water that were available for no extra charge. Breakfast was included and was very good: deli meat and cheese, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruit and homemade coffee cake, cereal, etc. We were only in town for one night and they did not have a 2 or 3 night minimum stay requirement during the week (many other places did). The location was great, right on Duval Street but not on the busiest end. You can walk to the other end of Duval where all of the action is, it is about 1.2 miles from Mallory Square. There are plenty of restaurants and bars along the way. The rum bar was great and all Inn guests are given a coupon for one free drink called a “pain killer,” which was very good. We enjoyed sitting on the porch and people watching. They are just a few blocks from the southernmost point, Hemingway House, and stop #3 on the Conch Tour Train. We stayed on the ground floor; some rooms are upstairs, so if stairs are an issue, keep that in mind. We would definitely stay at the Speakeasy Inn again.

Room Tip: We stayed in Room 3A, which was on the ground floor on the side of the building (street is in the fr...

Stayed one night and had a delightful experience. Great location, quiet end of Duval Street. Clean, two free rum drinks and nice breakfast. Great place to stay and recommend it highly. Beds comfy and fairly new mattresses. Only stayed one night and most places wanted a 2-3 night minimum so we were ticked pink when it turned out to be terrific.

We stayed upstairs in room 1B. The whole experience was just very pleasant and personable- from initial booking (direct) from check in to check out. Bobby and staff made it so easy. They provide free parking for you as well as free water and free welcome drink in bar downwtairs. Their breakfast was well-stocked and yummy. The room has a queen size high bed with nice bedding and bathroom had a claw foot tub as well as a bath. They provide bath salts too! The only thing that was missing from room was a place to set your suitcase. We did not use the kitchenette, but it looked functional. The noise from street and bar was not bad and did not distrurb us. It is on the quieter side of Duval and closer to southernmost beach.

Mar 25 - we recently stayed at the Speakeasy for 4 days and it was an excellent experience. Very clean, great towels, very good breakfast and obviously convenient bar. Frieda was our initial contact and immediately made us feel "at home". Every employee was very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend and if we return this will be our destination. Tom

Room Tip: back rooms had less noise

We found this wonderful small in walking Duval street looking for a reasonable place to stay in high season and on a weekend! It was perfect! Great room was very clean, quite and a great location! The staff was more than gracious! Wonderful continental breakfast with homemade breakfast breads! Water bottles were in your refrigerator for free! Parking off street a block from Inn! Rum punch! Only two blocks from the Atlantic Ocean!

Room Tip: We had the smallest room, but loved it!

Our 2nd visit to the Speakeasy! We had the upper deck front room so there was some street and bar noise - but you're on a street and above a bar! We owned the balcony and spent evenings watching from above - great fun. The front room had beds and no seats inside so we went outside to sit. Coupon for two free drinks from the Rum Bar and $1 off drinks because we're guests! Breakfast was tasty and filling - fruit, toast, coffee, tea, H/B eggs, meat and cheese, cereals and juice - served in the bar area - more than enough to start your day. Ask for advice and tips on visiting the sites - Bobbie and Freda have a wealth of advice.

Room Tip: Front room 1A is on the street and over a bar - muffled noises dwindle after midnight. Shower is sl...

Just stayed a week at the Speakeasy & it is hard to find any thing bad to say. Bobbi welcomed us & the rest of the staff (Barbara & Anne) were all so accomodating & helpful. We picked the smallest room #4 & we had no problem with the size of the room, loved the privacy. Our bed was high & our suitcases fit right underneath as well as a wardrobe w a drawer. It was clean & comfortable with a kitchen that we only used the fridge but there was a microwave, dishes, glasses, etc. They offer Wifi which we did use with no problem. Their breakfasts there were awesome. Coffee, bagels, muffins, fresh baked goods, fruit, cereal, fresh OJ, Ham, cheese, Hard boiled eggs, you name it, it was there & we loved people watching on the patio every morning..
Bahama Bob our favorite bartender served excellent drinks with a smile. You get two free drinks when you check in & a $1 discount on drinks you buy if you are staying there. The location could not be better, you are right on Duval near the Southernmost Point & within walking distance of everything. There is not a pool however you can either use the beaches or the Southernmost Pool. Bobbi even gave us Beach towels to take to the Southernmost House pool. It was hard to think about going back to snowy Pennsylvania after our 7 day stay. The accomodations were so good, we have already booked for next year & we are looking forward to going back.

Room Tip: Rooms are booked quickly especially in February so don't wait to book.

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
The Speakeasy Inn is a landmark building located in the Boutique and Gallery District of Duval Street where you can shop or walk two blocks to the beach or a short stroll to world-famous Sunset Celebrations in Mallory Square! This landmark's recent renovation has preserved the original 19th century spirit of Old Town Key West. The decor in these spacious and airy suites is tropical and features hand-crafted queen beds and tables made from original 1876 pine recovered from our recent renovation. It has been restored to perfection, just for your pleasure. Each one, two, or three bedroom unit has a feeling of true Key West ambiance. You'll find collectibles taken from treasure hunts on our tropical island paradise and Havana, Cuba. Guests who require special consideration will find "accessible" units available. Amenities include kitchenettes equipped with a mini fridge, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, private bathrooms, a large screen HD T.V., free WiFi and outdoor seating areas. We also offer a complimentary continental breakfast, free samples of our famous Painkiller cocktail and discounts on drinks at The Rum Bar! The Speakeasy Inn was the home of Raul Vaquez, who was a cigar selector at the Gato cigar factory. Raul's true passion was rum-running between Key West and Cuba. It's in that spirit that our lobby features the Rum Bar open daily from 11am to 12pm (or later). ... more   less
