“Wonderful Place to Stay”
Reviewed 17 June 2009

Beautifully landscaped, large rooms, best king sized bed I've slept in, screened in porch, whirlpool bath in bedrooms, full kitchen, swimming pool geared to children & non-swimmers, hot tub, gas grills for barbecuing, books & games in office, sandy beach with an abundance of chairs for sunbathing, small beach for snorkeling, a dock for fishing & pleasant helpful employees. This resort is on the opposite side of the key from noise of Mallory square & Duvall St. with access to the restaurant, beach & exercise facilities of the other Hyatt's on Key West. This is a perfect place for families with children but probably too far from the action if you want to get drunk & pick up people on Duvall St. 2-3 minutes by car from the other side of the island where parking can be a problem.

We stayed at the beach house in April 2009. This property is immaculate, with amazing 2 bedroom suites with great sun porches. The pool is awesome for young kids with a zero degree entry and a beach area right next to the pool. The layout of the property made for a very stress free vaction with a 1 and 4 year old. The location is a 15minute drive to the downtown area, but, we didn't mind as we had our car. We found parking easily on highway #1 or whitehead street and also on Duval for only a few dollars. There are tons of attractions for kids in Key west we did the Pirate museum, the aquarium and the sunset festival. The kids had a great time and so did we! There isn't a real beach at the hotel, but there aren't any nice beaches in Key west. The Keys aren't the place to go, if you want big white sand beaches, go to an island in the caribbean for that. All in all a fun vacation in a beautiful tropical island that you can drive to. This resort is a quiet family resort not a party resort with lost of young people. I would recomend for all families or couples looking a for a quiet relaxed vacation. Oh and if you go to Key west go to Blue Heaven on Thomas St. for a meal, the most amazing atmosphere, food, drinks and the Key lime pie is to die for......the kids loved this place and so did we!

The hotel is impeccable. My husband, I, and 16 year old son thoroughly enjoyed the condo style room with 2 king size bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, jacuzzi bathtub, living room, kitchen and dining room and screened patio. The swimming pool and hot tub were perfect. One could play in the Gulf water, had a pier to walk out on, sand to walk on. It was a very relaxing vacation; we spen 3 days and 2 nights; worth every penny.

This is a middle of the road place to stay, but the rooms and grounds were excellent. The location was off the beaten path and as much as they try to portray it as connected to the fabric of Key West, the reality is that you will probably drive to everything.

That being said, the rooms were meticulously cleaned, furnishings up to date and the grounds very nice.

There is no beach (so I'm not sure about the name they gave it) to hang out on. There is a sand area near the pool.

We used the gas grills quite often. A nice touch.

We brought our kids, but would not do that again. Not really a good town for kids.

This was a nice setting, away from the noise of Highway 1. It is tucked nicely away from everything else in Key West yet only a five minute drive to downtown Key West. Very nice zero depth pool, with plent of lounge chairs and very clean pool area. Hot tub was nice too. There is a small beach which is a little rocky but that didn't stop me from going in to snorkel because the water is so clear in this spot that you can see 10 - 12 feet to the bottom. You won't see the nice bright coral reef fish, but you will see several varieties of fish, crabs and horseshoe crabs. If you want a sandy beach, I recommend either Smathers Beach or Higgs Beach, both on the Atlantic side of the island (about a 3 mile drive). Accomodations were very comfortable with the nicest screened in porch I have ever seen.

Stayed during 'off' season and got a very good price. Nice, spacious room. Beautifully landscaped. Very comfortable and well appointed rooms. Quiet area, but near stores. This is good, since you have a full kitchen if you want to eat in sometimes or use the onsite grills for cookouts. Charcoal, etc. available from front office. Need to pay to park downtown, or take a cab, as it is about 3.5 miles to downtown area. Bikes would be good. Many people rent mopeds, also. Pool is shallow and would be good for small kids. It is an odd pool and goes from 0 to 4 feet, but only in a 3 foot section, then goes back down to about 3.5 feet. Beach area is not good for swimming, but for sunbathing and looks. There is a lot of vegetation and a sign warns of strong current. There is a small dock at the water and you can probably fish. You can take advantage of the amenties at the other Hyatt resort, but another review said you had to pay to park there. We did not go there.

We did an exchange to the Beach House from our resort in Hawaii.

We read mixed reviews.

Overall it is a very clean comfortable resort.
Not much in amenities but there is a lovely pool and jacuzzi.
The beach is just for lounging. You can't go in the water because of the lack of access..

The concierge Ron was very helpful.

There is a fee for the shuttle to Old town.
So you pay it or go in on your own and pay for parking.

I would return there one day.
