“Used to be the Best Coffee House in Town”
Reviewed 10 December 2013

This is so sad; I used to go here every morning when it was the old "Coffee and Tea House" for great espresso, and great camaraderie, but it just isn't what it used to be - the service was always inconsistent, and perhaps that is the one thing that's improved. The coffee is okay, but not what it was and since almost no one goes here anymore it's not as much fun to hang out. They took all the comfortable cushions away, so clearly they don't want you to stay, and yeah, it's a little dirty sometimes .. .the food is mediocre and overpriced. They have added wifi, but that just means folks are stuck in their ipads more and less likely to be convivial. I still go sometimes because it's my closest coffee house and I do see some friends there ... but it's not surprising that it is usually more empty than not.

“Good place for a morning cup”
Reviewed 8 December 2013 via mobile

Went here for that strong first cup of the morning. Unlike other recent reviews I found the staff helpful and the coffee was just what I was looking for!

“Just barely OK”
Reviewed 16 November 2013

I am so happy I located the original coffee shop because this one has very little to offer. Coffee and server were just ok. No wonder the shop was empty.

“Nice place for coffee, but not too early”
Reviewed 9 November 2013

This is a nice little place on Duval to get coffee and fresh pastries and read the morning paper (you have to bring your paper with you, I did not see any papers for sale.) It has outdoor seating (front or side porch), but it does not generally open until after 7 am. The staff was friendly and the tables were clean. It is a good spot to people watch, too. Wish it would open earlier, but it is better than the chain alternative.

“Detached and Unwelcoming”
Reviewed 17 October 2013

We stopped for coffee and possibly a light snack. The server didn't seem interested in being there and we settled for a quick cup of coffee. We found a seat on the deck in the shade. We noticed that our server was already out there sitting and talking with friends. There were several dirty tables on the deck that needed tending and customers to check on but she never got up from talking to do either. They need to hire someone who wants to work.
