Owner description: Tropic Cinema is South Florida's only nonprofit multiplex cinema screening 1st-run indie, foreign and documentary films and Hollywood blockbusters every day. With 4 theaters, state-of-the art projection services and the best concessions stand anywhere (we serve wine and beer and drizzle our popcorn with 100% melted butter), it's no wonder Florida Monthly magazine named Tropic Cinema "Florida's Best Cinema" for four consecutive years.

“Great Cinema”
Reviewed 20 November 2013

After spending time on Deval St my liver needed a break one day, so I decided to see a movie. The stafff are retired volunteers and very friendly as they are dedicated to supporting the arts and movies. I love popcorn and was delighted when I found that they popped their own as many other venues just take it out of a bag. You can buy beer & wine and bring it into the movie theater with you. Seats are very comfortable and roomy. Loved it..... will be back.

“Diana Nyad Movie Preview”
Reviewed 18 November 2013

Pleasantly surprised upon entering the Cinema Lobby. It is beautifuly decorated in an Art Deco Style and gives a great feel of "Going to the Show" way back when. We saw the premier of The Other Shore and were treated to a meet & greet and movie introduction byh Diana Nyad including a question and answer session at the end. Delightful experience.

“Best movie experience ever”
Reviewed 17 November 2013 via mobile

This is must visit place if you love movies and art. Its a gorgeous place with very minimum seating capacity which will give you a feel like you are home. They allow you to take wine beer coffee inside the hall. Am sure that you gonna enjoy if you visit. Ticket price is 11 dollars and its worth every penny. This is a non profit organization and staffs are so friendly especially the guy at the bar with beard, he was so good in service and talk nicely. Restrooms are too good. When it comes to sound quality I was so happy. Not like IMAX and all. Still you will enjoy for sure. happened to watch the movie " Last Vegas " and it was an unforgettable experience ever, and yeah there is self counter in front of the cinema where you can purchase the ticket.

Intimate sized theatres in an atmospheric setting. The retired staff volunteers supporting the venue were a welcome sight and welcoming. Comfy seats. An enjoyable cinema experience.

“Delightful art deco gem”
Reviewed 15 November 2013

Saw Captain Phillips but the real star is the cinema itself. Lovingly restored inside and out. The foyer oozes period charm and as a bonus sells excellent wine! Manned by enthusiastic volunteers it is a credit to the local community.
