We live in Key West and were excited about the new owner making this into the type of place we always thought it could be. We offered to check it out for some friends who wanted to come to Key West. The room we saw was very nice and the rate we were quoted was very good. We assumed it was because they were just trying to improve the old reputation after the renovations. Based upon our recommendation, our friends booked a room there for 10 days. They had a written comfirmed reservation, yet when they arrived they were told that the person who quoted that price was no longer employed there and the price was now more than double. Because they were already there and it was their first vacation in 10 years, they agreed. When they told us, we were mortified. We felt so bad that they were taken advantage of in this manner. While they say they had a good time, this type of price gouging is inexcusable. They had a confirmed reservation for an "ocean" front room and ended up with a parking lot view for over twice the price. I will never recommend this place again. For the price they now charge you could be in old town which is what Key West is all about. Why stay out in new town amid the chain stores for the same price? You might as well stay on the mainland. I am very sorry to leave a negative review. We had so hoped the new owner could make this place work. Unfortunately, both the motel and restaurant fall far short in both value and service.

Room Tip: Do your research and find a better value on the island.

It's a cheap place to stay that's decent. Yes, it's older and a little dated but it gets the job done. You're not paying for the Hilton, so don't expect it. Avoid room 501, as the lights from the outside staircase will keep you awake all night.

Firstly this is not a resort but an old interstate motel with a new sign and a very misleading website, and probably the furthest point you can get from anything in Key West, it is about 2 miles or a 50 - 60 min walk from the centre of Key West or a $15-$20 taxi ride. Rooms are sparsely furnished and bathroom tiny. As you can see from the photo's the standard of cleanliness was very low. The front door of my room (505) opened out onto the car park for the restaurant and restrooms with cars and people coming and going at all hours and a couple of times I struggled to get into the room because of cars parked in front of the door, also there is a cage of demented parrots that squawk from sun up to sun down so don't bother to bring an alarm clock.

Room Tip: If you have already booked then ask to avoid rooms 501 to 517 as these have the parrot alarm clock a...

It was the only vacancy we could find, and we felt ripped off. Towels were like sandpaper, the bathroom didn't have any hooks or towel rods, hot and cold fixtures were reversed in the flimsy fiberglass shower, and the deadbolt didn't work. Room 603 was a big efficiency with king sized bed, fridge, and microwave, but size isn't everything. At least it had tile floors.

The rooms are very small, so if you're expecting a big room you'll be very disappointed. WAY OVERPRICED, musty, humid rooms with wall unit a/c's. Had to request fresh towels every day, minimal housekeeping. Pillows were so flat they felt like doormats, oh and let's not forget the huge parrot cage nearby the rooms that would not shut up. If you're expecting continental breakfast, yeah right, another disappointment. If I were to price this hotel, it would be about $79 a night, not almost $300. Another thing, if you're claustrophobic you won't be able to take a shower, my closet's bigger than the shower. One person barely fits in there. Overall, huge disppointment.

We spent 5 days at Ibis bay and had a great time. It is not Marriott, but all you really need is a
place to sleep and take a shower. Clean, very clean, rooms and beds, pool area and the food at
the Stoned Crab, is excellent. Do yourself a favor and stay here.

I was very hesitant after reading all the reviews about this place. I decided we were staying in Key West and didn't really have to have all the extras since we would be out and about having fun. Me and my fiance decided to go ahead and try it. We came to Key West to get married. Our wedding was amazing. I am so glad I did it here. As far as the resort, our room was 514 right in front of the restaurant and the squauking parrots. They did wake us up every morning very early. The room was extremely tiny for 2 people. Had no place to put clothes. Had to leave them in suitcase. There was no bathtub and shower was tiny. Hardly had room to move in there. I asked for a iron and ironing board. The staff brought me one but was to dirty to even use. I wasnt about to put my clothes on it. You only get one towel a piece. There was one day that we didnt get clean towels until 7:00 that evening. Had to ask twice for them. This place is no resort. It is more of a motel. We ate at the Stoned Crab restaurant the first night we got there. The food was nothing special but we were tired and just wanted something to eat. Service was very slow. We got told at front desk that you get 10% off meal but the waitress conveniently forgot to do that. She acted like she was stoned herself. The concierge was no help. He actually got rude with my husband. We had a great time in Key West. I am so glad I came here to get married but I will never stay here again. We made do since we had already paid for it through bookit.com. We are already talking about coming back to the Keys but will definitely do more research before booking again. There are so many more nice motels and actual resorts there to stay here.

Room Tip: I wouldnt recommend staying here period!!!
