My Husband and I need a quick get a way to warm up from this harsh winter so we slipped off to key west and found this awesome hideaway... We stayed at Ibis bay resort soooooo cute... very laid back and Caribbean..... They have a great restaurant The stoned Crab... great food and atmosphere.. We started our day with a yummy breakfast and then ended the day with cocktails.... Shannon the bar tender was absolutely the bomb made us feel right at home.... Highly recommend this place for that great get a way.... Mary & Gordy

We are all so glad you enjoyed your stay at Ibis Bay. It is a unique piece of Florida's history that puts you in the Key West state of mind the moment to step into the lobby. We love what we do because we get to meet guests like you. So, "Thank you!" from all of us. Come back when you can.

Me and my wife had stayed here for two nights. The hotel was very clean. The rooms were very clean and decorated very nice. We really like the Life's Too Short Bus that transported us to downtown. The drivers were very nice and helpfull to help you get where you were going. I wouln't think twice about booking another stay at this hotel and would recomend it.

Its great to hear from you. bis Bay is a time-warp back to Florida's Fabulous Fifties. We love that about it and clearly you two did as well. I will pass on your compliments to the shuttle drivers. Come on back when you can. Lexie the Macaw says, "hello!".

The positives: Awesome shuttle service to the touristy areas that run back and forth all day- free. Very good restaurant next door, nice beach area, close to all the strip malls you can ever wish for. The negatives: Noisy busy street that was under construction, around 3 miles away from where you want to be, expensive for our very small room. Overall, it was just OK. We didn't prebook a room anywhere and so we ended up at Ibis hotel. The staff are very nice and helpful and the shuttle drivers are great!!!

Room Tip: Try and splurge for an ocean view room. All other rooms face the parking lot and street.

Our shuttle bus guys are great. They make every downtown trip a lot of fun. I will show them your review. They will love it.
We do not have any hotel rooms facing the street. They do face our resort drive. Every ground room offers a private garden or a beach garden. They also all have their own private hammocks. Once you enter Ibis Bay Resort you are not aware of the outside roads at all. But driving in is awkward because of roadwork outside. It will be over soon.

I guess I shouldn't have been surprised when I'm paying $209 a night, on checking in, to be dinged with a chintzy $10.00 plus tax "resort fee", but I was surprised to find that there is no wifi in the rooms - in the main office, in the restaurant, supposedly at the pool (but the strength was almost non-existent), but not in the rooms. C'mon folks, it's the 21st Century - even Motel 6 has wifi in the rooms. Supposedly it's a problem because of thick walls, but the lack of wifi at the pool leads me to believe it's because they're too cheap to install a proper system. The bathroom had a funky 50s theme - real cool in the 50s, not so much in 2014. A nice touch was the door out the back and a little patio area with a hammock - spoiled by the music playing from the speaker over every door until 10:00 p.m. I considered pulling out the wires, but thought better of that. Location? Easy to find, but a long way from where you want to be, although there is a shuttle. Anything good to say? Yes, the restaurant was very good. A bit pricey, but very good.

Room Tip: See if there's one which doesn't have a speaker playing music you may not want to listen to.

Thanks for your thoughts. What was explained to you about wi-fi is true. Ibis Bay was built in 1956 with heavy coral rock walls. To top it off all the buildings have metal wind-proof roofs. No matter how much we spend ($80K so far) our wi-fi is not as good in every room. Most are fine. Ibis Bay has a lot to offer guests besides wi-fi. The beach, pool, tranquility, stunning water views and a hammock for nearly every guest and as you say, a great restaurant.

After reading all the good and bad reviews, I was still willing to give this place a shot. The reviews were horrible, so after booking, my expectations werent too high, but still hopeful..and let me just say; I AM SO GLAD WE GAVE THEM A SHOT! This resort was absolutely perfect for us! The view of the water and the beach front itself is beautiful beyond words, especially when the sun starts to go down. Its sooo relaxing. Take your beers and sit in a hammock or sun chair for hours! Not only were the grounds pleasing, but the room as well! Super clean! Awesome decor! Ipod deck, and iron were in the room as promised! The bathroom was super clean, and they provided us with more than enough towels. The air conditioner has a remote making it easy to adjust without leaving the bed! Fridge in the room to cool your beverages. The stoned crab had awesome servers and exeptional food. Im from MD so the seafood doesnt compete to MD's but it was pleasing. The view of the water from our table at dinner gave it a romantic feel! We have no complaints about this resort what so ever. When we return to key west this is where we will stay again, and again. We loved Ibis Bay.

Room Tip: Upgrade to the beach front rooms! more expensive but so worth the price!

Just flew home from a week at the Ibis. Loved the resort, friendly staff including the parrot Lex and the tortoises :) loved the Stone a Crab for breakfast and lunches, loved having breakfast on the water! We had a few visitors on our patio, an iguana and a few ibis birds, very neat. Our teens (20 & 17) enjoyed the hammocks and pool. We did the night paddle boarding and really enjoyed that, even though it was very windy and a little difficult to paddle against the wind. Very friendly and helpful concierges, booked our snorkeling trip and the paddle boarding (book early for the night boarding) . Very helpful life is too short bus drivers!! Sent us to the best places to eat with the freshest fish where all the locals go!! Loved having a shuttle, we drove to Duvall street the first night...parking sucks and is expensive in the private lots ($25) and a cab ride cost us over $20....use the free shuttle! The resort is clean, the rooms are clean, very vintage 1950s, we love that! We never did find the sand swimming beach in the picture, we stayed in a waterfront room but it was just sand with a rock wall and actually we were disappointed to find a mangrove directly in our view, and an abandoned rusty looking houseboat dry docked in the mangroves....2 rooms down were waterfront ., so technically we could sit on our patio and see water but is was not straight out from our room and we paid $329 and $349 weekend rate for waterfront (plus resort fees per person, per day....) .pretty disappointing!! Coffee/tea was served in the restaurant but not until they opened at 8.....coffee maker would be nice in the room or at least in the lobby early mornings and one more little negative, the bathroom sink is a pedestal sink, leaving zero room for makeup or a curling iron! Was a little difficult getting ready each morning without a place to sit things down. All in all we enjoyed our stay and would stay again.

Room Tip: If requesting waterfront, maybe call the resort to confirm you are in fact waterfront...not a water...

Thanks for a great review. And some good improvement ideas that I have passed along. We are moving the houseboat from that end of the beach so all the beach and water views at that end should be comparable to the rest of the beachfront rooms. I hope we see you here again.

Cute rooms, very clean, loved the movie night by the pool. Stoned crab was great food! Free bus to downtown, very convenient. Staff was very nice. I would recommend to others. Real feel of seaside, low key place. Hammocks in front of rooms are cute idea.

Ibis Bay is exactly what you dream of when you imagine Key West. It's a friendly, quirky resort with design and colors inspired by 1950s Havana. The landscaped white sand beach leads right up to the beachfront guest rooms, and guests can jump right into the beautiful bay for swimming, snorkeling and take jet skis, kayaks or paddle boards right from our dock! The staff are all Key West locals who love the island and want our guests to enjoy their stay. We have exclusive attractions like our poolside Dive-In Movies every Wednesday night on a 20ft screen by the pool, plus Nightboarding nightime LED-lit paddleboarding and kayaking! Wildlife abounds on our grounds including huge tortoises, lots of large colorful parrots, local iguanas (don't touch!) and our namesake, the very pretty ibis birds. In the mood for some fun? Ask our Fun Desk concierge about our jet ski, scooter and electric car rentals on site plus paddle board, kayaks and kiteboard rentals on the beach. They can also recommend off-site activities, restaurants, tours and local attractions. We have 80 hammocks for lazing about, and an amazing restaurant called The Stoned Crab that has two of its very own fishing boats delivering fresh crab, shrimp, lobster and fish every day!
