Andrews Inn is a little jewel, tucked off the quiet end of Duval Street, walking distance to all attractions. Our room (Madrid) was beautifully decorated in Caribbean colours, and we loved sitting on the shared porch or reading in the hammock. The pool is petite, but just right for a quick dip at the end of a day of touring, and breakfast is generous, with lots of choices - loved the French toast! This is the hotel if you love cats: many of the six-toed variety wander over from the Hemingway house next door, and make themselves at home. George/Jorge is the heart of the Inn, he always seems to be laughing, and is ready to help with anything. Our only suggestion for improvement is to somehow find a way for natural ventilation in the room: we could only use the A/C and even with the fan going over the bed, it was humid and stuffy (found out later that additional standing fans are available on request). Free parking is limited (three spaces).

We arrived at the Andrews Inn at the tail end of one of the worst cold spells in memory. Florida's citrus crops endangered, travelers fleeing in droves, near-record lows in Key West... but Jorge, Tom, and Nancy had a positive attitude for us, cozy rooms, adorable dogs (Lucy and Satchmo), and a wonderful location near the southern end of Duval. As long-time fresh water conchs, they knew Key West so well that their innkeeper recommendations sounded more like an insider's pros and cons to our ears than the tired lists of a professional hotelier. It was our first vacation together after 2 very stressful years of work and we really appreciated our time at Andrews Inn, even if the first two days were chilly! With the ideal location, you can choose to chillax and avoid the crowds or... with 50 steps down a quiet lane... be part of the whole "Duval Street thing" in about 90 seconds. (If you're doing the steps-to-seconds math in your head right now, then you need to head to Key West immediately.) Jorge, FKCC is hiring, incredibly, so you may never get rid of us! ;-) Rob & Sarah

The Andrews Inn is beautiful. We stayed in the cottage called Roma. Very clean and a pleasure to stay in. Bed was comfortable. Room was good sized. Private porch in front. Plentiful breakfast every morning. Not just a muffin and coffee. When figuring in the price, that's the cost of one meal everyday. Happy hr. in the afternoon. There again, many bars and restaurants have a happy hr. but not for free!! The staff was awesome. Jorge and Zanda couldn't do enough to help and provide. We did not see much of the owners because they were away, but they have a great staff they can count on. The Inn is off the beaten path. A few steps from Duval St. but enough away from the noise. Located on the backside of Hemminway's house, so there are cats around. They are fed and have free reign, so to speak. If you have a problem with cats, allerigies or whatever, you may not enjoy staying
here. Not a problem for us. As with most anywhere in Key West, in walkng distance of anything on Duval St. and nearby streets you may wish to do. You will not be disappointed staying at the Andrews Inn!!!

We cannot say enough good things about this charming little inn. We were on our honeymoon and my husband had never been to Key West so I did tons of research on the internet. We wanted a small and cozy setting that catered to adults . I'm glad we chose Andrews Inn. It was exactly as pictured; there were no disappointments.

We thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast and happy hour as it gave us a chance to meet and mingle with the other guests. Everyone hit it off and we did several things together for the 5 days we were there. At least two of the couples had been there before, one coming every year!

The staff was welcoming and friendly, the room was exactly as pictured and I can't think of a thing they could improve upon.

We will definitely be back in the Spring!

Best regards from Julie and Tommy in Atlanta.

My husband and I stayed at Andrew's Inn in Key West for our Honeymoon from Nov 16-24, 2009. The inn was beyond our expectations! Perfectly located off the quieter end of Duval Street, Andrew's Inn is a hidden gem, and the perfect place for a couple to go for a romantic getaway!

Tom & Nancy (the owners) and Jorge & Blanche (employees) are wonderful, amazing people who made our stay fantastic. The daily champagne breakfast and open bar happy hour each night are worth their weight in gold! It not only saves money, but time...as you have something to eat then head off to explore the island! By 4pm, we were ready to head back to inn for a cocktail, beer or glass of wine, and a dip in the warm pool. Also, these were great opportunities to chat with the other guests, mostly married couples who were visiting for their 2nd or 3rd+ time to Andrew's Inn! That is always a great sign when ppl come back year after year... We will definitely be back!

The first and last nights of our stay, we were in the Main house...we stayed in the large Roma room off the side with our own private porch...roosters would wake us every morning, and kitty cats welcomed us throughout the day (Key West is covered with roosters, chickens and cats...when add to the kooky charm of the island). The bulk of our stay was at the intimate Mango Hideaway in their other property just across the street int he Eyebrow House. As we were on our honeymoon, we loved the privacy of our own studio complete with huge private deck...and JACUZZI! Nearly every morning and night, we slipped into the hot tub for relaxation...AHHHHH. it was heaven!

Just so you know, we loved Key West and Andrew's Inn SO MUCH...we extended our stay by 3 nights! We were supposed to head up to Miami and West Palm Beach for a few nights and said, No way, we are staying here in the laid back, tropical paradise of Key West! We love you, Key West! We will see you soon! :)

FYI:
Key West is alive and kicking! If you want to relax by the ocean or a pool...take a romantic sunset cruise or an adventure catamaran trip...chill out... eat some amazing seafood and key lime pie... meet friendly people, tourists and staff... go wild (day or night!) ... and just be in a warm, tropical paradise away from it all... KEY WEST is for you!

HOT TIPS:
1) Rent the bikes offered at the Inn! It's about $40-50 dollars for the week...and well worth it! We biked every day, all around the main downtown area of the island. We tended not to ride at night as it was more busy with crowds...and well, drinking and biking aren't our thing :)

2) Go to Fort Zachary Taylor Beach: It is the best beach on the island! You can swim, snorkel, eat lunch...full bathrooms and showers too. It is on the Naval base and cruise ship area...and you pay $2.50 pp at the gate. You can also drive or take a taxi...I won't walk it...the road is too long. It is popular with the cruise ship guests too. There is a great snack bar which we had lunch at 3 days...excellent sandwiches for a snack bar. And, best of all, you can rent umbrellas and lounge chairs... it's $30 to rent for the day, but it is totally worth it... you deserve it! You can also rent snorkels and fins. The sand is white, but there is a bit of rocky coral on the way to the water, so bring your swim shoes or tevas to swim. We snorkelled and swam at least 4-5 times each day... there are 2 little sections of rocks with lots of fish to see...and the pelicans happily watch over you to be sure you don't eat their fish!

3) Go on Sebago Catamaran! WE did the sunset cruise with them...and got a great deal on the full day Snorkel & Kayak Trip! It was a total blast, met lots of awesome ppl, ate food & drinks (sangria, beer, wine, margaritas), snorkelled and kayaked with a guide through the mangroves. Totally unique and cool experience. We even had a "dolphin show" on our way back...about 6 dolphins showed off for about 20 mins...it was great!

4) If you are daring, do the 2 hour KEY WEST JET SKI TOUR around Key West! You ride 2 ppl per jet ski (my hubby and me) and go 28 miles around the whole island for 2 hours! It is exhilerating, exciting, wild, and the BEST thing we did on our honeymoon by far! We loved racing around at top speed and splashing through the waves! Our guide Gilbert was awesome...and they sent us over to the bar next door for 2 for one cocktails.

5) Have Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner at BLUE HEAVEN. It is in Bahama Village...so authentic, good, cool and the best place on the island by far.

6) Have a romanc italian dinner at La Trattoria (Duval St)...white table cloth, as elegant as any restaurant in Boston or NYC...and then catch the live blues & jazz in the back lounge called VERGILIO's... a great night out!

7) Get lunch or appetizers at SLOPPY JOE'S (Duval St) It's the quintessential Key West bar...an ode to Hemingway. We loved the vibrant atmosphere...great bar food... the Sloppy Joe smothered nachos or fries are to die for! Friendly bartenders too!

8) Eat at Conch Republic (on the marina) - great Spinach & Cheese Baked Oysters, Calamari, Steamed Shrimp, etc...and get drinks & cigars at Schooner Wharf. It's a fun tiki bar right on the marina with live music all day (not the best for food though).

9) Go to the Half Shell Raw Bar (old marina) for great Grouper and Shrimp Po Boys and Mojitos! Nice spot on the harbor looking at all the nice private yachts....and get drinks and go SWIMMING in Dante's gigantic pool! A great mid-afternoon place to go.

10) Visit Hemingway House: It's beautiful, historical and fun. Nice to get away from the hot sun and Duval Street party scene. If you love architecture, history, Hemingway novels, kitty cats and lush gardens... it's a must see! It costs $12 to get in, includes wonderful tour with funny guides... We spent about 2 hours there, just walking around. They encourage ppl to relax, pet the cats and take photos. Nice gift shop too. We bought a watercolor print of the house and stuffed cat for our nephew. :)

I have more places to add later...but for now...have a blast and explore America's own little tropical paradise!! We love Key West!

George was fabulous as our host! His warm and friendly help was reason enough to stay at The Andrews Inn. We stayed in one of the separate garden cottages, which was actually a small house near the Inn. The cottage was very clean, functional and affordable. The location of both the Inn and cottages are in a prefect location and in easy walking distance for hitting all the fun and eduactional tourist spots on and around the downtown Duval Street area. I highly recommend The Andrews Inn and Cottages and will definitley plan to stay there on my next visit to Key West!

My spouse and I stayed for 2 wonderful days in this hidden paradise right off the hustle and bustle of duval street. The staff was beyond wonderful, they joked and laughed with us and suggested resturants, bars and other things to do while we were there, and not just the "touristy" attractions, but places where the locals dine and play making us feel more like locals than visitors. The rooms were cute and very clean, and we loved our private porch for coffee in the morning, complete with Hemingways famous cats to make us feel welcome. Breakfast was relaxing in the garden and the mimosas completed the meal. The afternoon happy hour was very nice giving guests the opportunity to socialize with each other. During our stay we were the only guests at this small bed and breakfast and the staff went out of there way to make us feel like we were part of the "family" We can not wait to go back and we will never stay anywhere in Key West but Andrews Inn again.
