“A free gem”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

...I suspect hearing the name Key West Garden Club might trigger a vision of some very formal group sitting about sipping mint juleps and acting very proper. Erase that vision because that is not what you will find when you visit the west Martello Tower Key West Garden Club.
...If you enjoy looking at flowering plants in beautiful settings, you deserve to take a trip to this site. Northerners such as we are especially enjoy beautiful flowers instead of all our snow. It is located near Higgs Beach. Expect to see more flowers and ferns than you can name and more types of orchids than you probably have ever seen. All of these are set in courtyards which are well maintained. While we were there, a local artist was setting up some of his work and we had an interesting conversation with him.
...Did I mention that there is no admission charge although donations are welcomed. There was a friendly woman at the entrance desk who was happy to talk about the various aspects of the site. The whole area is not large and you will be able to see it all within an hour or two and this would be an excellent addition to a day spent in the area at Higgs Beach or Fort Zachary Taylor since The Key West Garden Club site is within easy walking distance.

“Beautiful site to visit”
Reviewed 7 May 2014

Very quiet site with a beautiful background of white sand and blue green water. Lots of great plant examples and the grounds are well maintained in an old fort.

“Found this beautiful spot on a bike ride!!!”
Reviewed 4 May 2014

We came upon this beautiful spot during a bike ride around the island. If you love old buildings turned into gardens with views of beautiful beaches, you will love it to.

“Great beauty”
Reviewed 28 April 2014

Admission into the KWGC is donation only. This was my second adventure into the twisting areas comprised with the beauty of flowers and foliage in a cool, quiet, relaxed atmosphere. The staff is friendly and full of information. The day we were there, a future bride was choosing her location within the garden area for her upcoming nuptials. There is a large gazebo that gazes to the ocean, many seating areas in the shade, unexpected walk-thrus of trees, and lovely, lovely garden displays.
