Like some of the other reviews I have mixed feelings about staying here. I had booked my reservation months in advance when it was the Westin. I was informed of the rebranding so was not taken by surprise when we arrived. I was expecting something a bit less classy given the name but it still gave me the classier resort feel when I arrived. We chose this hotel due to the price and being right in the middle of all the action, plus it was one of the few that offered suites so that my adult family of 5 could still be somewhat separated from each other. We loved having our own suite with private balcony and able to look out on the ocean. As mentioned by others the cruise ships do hinder the view during the day, which was somewhat disappointing, but we were able to see the magical sunsets so that was good. Definitely would recommend eating off site as the food is good but pricey. We also had a great view of the harbor and sunset from our room so stayed there for the sunsets as going to Mallory Square or the second level bar was too crowded. The room itself was amazing, especially when we used to more budget friendly hotels. It definitely could use some spiffing up to earn the resort title but it wasn't awful. I am quite confused by the purpose of all of the fees that we were charged and even though I booked at a special rate months in advance I think they still somehow managed to charge me more in fees to make up for my deals. The staff was very helpful for us with checking in/out, adding an extra night and getting extra towels and even a cot (which actually was a normal twin sized bed on wheels). Would I stay there again? If money wasn't an issue I would most definitely stay there again as we liked the resort overall and loved the location. However, the prices are a bit steep for me so probably won't be at the top of the list next time.

Room tip: I believe we were in the bridal suite and actually were separate from the main hotel where the pool and check in was.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your detailed review. Your comment on "less classy" with our new brand is a perception we are trying to overcome. As we proceed with property improvements and enhancements, I think you will see there is nothing less classy but there will be more fun and more color.

I am concerned about your comments on fees. We do have a daily Resort Fee. Please review your bill and call me with any questions. We want to make this right. I can be reached at 305-294-4000.

And please do reach out the next time your travel plans include Key West. I will personally check on our best options both in room assignments and rates to meet your family's needs.

Sincerely,
Diane Schmidt

I stayed overnight at Margaritaville Key West Resort & Marina on Wednesday March 22. I chose this hotel because they we offering a reasonable price for a 2 bedroom oceanfront suite. This hotel has recently rebranded in January of 2017. Prior to this it was known as the Westin.

I'm a little conflicted when writing this review because there really is nothing "bad" about the hotel. It is located right of Duval, the views of the ocean and marina are beautiful, and the pool area is very nice. However, there are a few things I didn't like. First, the service is not personal. The staff is nice but no one really goes out of their way for the guests. I have stayed at a few resorts on the island and this one just misses the mark on personal touches. Two, there is no Jimmy Buffet vibe there. There's no music by the pool or relaxed island vibe. It wasn't much different than staying at a Hampton. I'm sure it has to do with the rebranding process but nevertheless it's kind of boring. Three, the rooms need updating. Nothing in the room was grossly damaged or ugly but it doesn't scream margaritaville.

Many of the reviews complain of the oceanfront view being obstructed by cruise lines. I have included a few pics to show the view from our room (Christmas Tree Suite). I thought the view was beautiful and we had an awesome view of the sunset as well as the marina.

In all the hotel was nice and the people I was with really thought it was beautiful. I can't stay anything negative about the location. I guess for $800 a night I was just looking for something more.

I have mixed feelings about this place. I usually stay at the Casa Marina which is quiet, with a huge pool, and a nice beach....we wanted to try something different and this was definitely different. The grounds and rooms are clean and comfortable. We had a room overlooking the pool, which wasn't loud or intrusive. The location cannot be beat. Go elsewhere for food and drink. If you want to watch the sunset on the second level by the bar, get there early. Overall, not bad but we probably won't be back. We will stick with Casa.

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your review. I am truly sorry you say you won't be back. We are definitely a different style property than the Casa Marina. I worked there for many years so I understand the differences. If you change your mind, please contact me to assist with reservations. We would love to have you stay again.

Took Key west express from Marco Island to key west! Terminal is short walk to Margaritaville which is the center of all key west activity! The hotel was great but pricey. Beware if you get a water view room it may end up being a cruise ship view!

Don't stay here unless you are desperate! Rooms are terrible. I paid a lot of money for a "Premium Oceanfront Room" There were roaches in the room and it was on the second floor. There was no coffee in the room, though there was a coffee maker. The service at the hotel was worse than terrible. No coffee in the lobby - there was a stand, but it was out and so was the water dispenser later in the day and the front desk staff just couldn't be bothered to replenish. Too busy on their phones.
The "oceanfront view" is also misleading. Yes, it is on the ocean, but there was a cruise ship parked right in front of hotel the whole time. One was there when we arrived and a different one the next day. There is a reason Westin sold this hotel. It is run down and dirty with roaches and terrible service. The staff just doesn't care.

Room tip: There are no good rooms unless you don't mind roaches!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your feedback. We take your comments seriously and will use your comments to improve.

We are on a regular pest control program as are all properties in a tropical environment and rarely find we have an issue.

We were not sold by Westin but merely changed our name and franchise partner.

And we do care. I believe the staff made amends for your dissatisfaction at check-out but if you would like to discuss further, please do not hesitate to call me at 305-294-4000.

Sincerely,
