Just wanted to post a quick review on The Islamorada Resort. We booked a five night stay at this resort. Having never been to the Keys we weren't sure where to stay or what to expect.
I have to say we were quite happy with our choice in hotels. The hotel is at mile marker 80 which is about halfway between Key West and Miami.
The lobby is very nice and has a modern feel and look to it.
There is an onsite restaurant called Oceans 80 and a poolside tiki bar which we enjoyed nightly.
The beach area is not your typical beach area with the ocean lapping up to the shore. Rather it is a beach area with a concrete retaining wall that has about a four foot drop off into the water. There are stairs for access into the ocean if you feel the need to take a dip. We were on the beach daily and it was never crowded and no issues with people claiming chairs by leaving towels on them. Great sunrise views from the beach!
Our room was clean and had everything that we needed and the A/C was cold. The furniture seems a bit outdated, but there were rumors of an upgrade swirling because the hotel had recently been purchased by a new group.
The hotel is just a couple of miles from Robbies Marina, Keyz Charters, and is about 40 miles from Bahia Honda State Park and The Seven Mile Bridge and has various restaurants within a short drive, including Lorelei's, The Islamorada Fish Company, Whahoos and Lazy Days Oceanfront restaurant.
We absolutely enjoyed our trip to Islamorada and enjoyed our stay at Islamorada Resort.

We stayed one night at the resort and it was wonderful. The 2 bedroom suite was very clean, and smelled fresh. We ate and drank on site and our server Michelle was thee BEST! Ask for her, you won't be disappointed and someone please tell her she needs to get out of Florida just to experience some snow! We walked across the street about a block to catch the sunset and it was stunning to say the least. Their private beach was just right, with hammocks and lounge chairs to relax in. All in all, a great experience and comes highly recommended...This will be our permanent spot to stay since we've tried many resorts and finally found one that fits our needs, reasonably priced, friendly staff and is a one stop place to be if you just want to relax, eat and drink and enjoy what the keys have to offer.

Good afternoon Palmtrees1990,
Thank you so much for taking the time to write a lovely review on not only the resort but Michelle. We think we have the best employees in the keys and we are so happy to have her on our team. We also agree but think her blood may be just too thin for the snow she is a good keys girl but we will pass along your sentiments. We hope to see you visit us again soon.

Warm Wishes,
Kara

We didn't stay at the resort, but happen to wander into the gift shop Island Trendz. Christina made my girlfriend feel so welcome and was key with helping her find the perfect bathing suit. I would recommend this shop and cannot wait to visit it again and stay at the resort.

We stayed at the Islamorada Resort for 2 nights. We got an upgraded room at no extra charge. We were on the 5th floor and our room was close to the road. We could hear a lot of the traffic while we were trying to sleep. The room was nice, but could stand to have an upgrade in decor. We had a separate bedroom with 2 beds, and then a sitting room with a pull out sofa and a kitchen. The bathroom was clean. The breakfast was great - with a lot to chose from - cereals, fruit, make your own waffles, bagels, juices, coffee, etc. The pool was clean and the beach was nice. You do have to go down stairs to get into the water. While we were there our first and only full day, maintenance was trimming the palm trees around the pool. They had closed access to the pool/beach for 2 hours (7:30-9:30) but then extended it longer for another hour and a half. My husband complained to the front desk because it was our only full day there and we were spending a lot of money to not be able to use their pool or beach. They had nothing to say except they were sorry. They didn't even offer the suggestion of going around the building by going out front and down the side of the building to the beach. We figured that out on our own. Then to make matters worse, the maintenance crew spent the rest of the morning and early afternoon chipping the palm branches in a wood chipper so you heard that machine running. Fortunately for anyone reading this, they are done trimming, so hopefully you won't have to encounter what we experienced.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the road.

Good afternoon JodiRoss,
Thank you for the recent review on our property and I am so sorry that the tree cutting took as long as it did and that you were inconvenienced as we hate when our guests feel that but your feedback on the process was a great insight that has been discussed with both the staff and the landscapers. I know New Jersey isn't as close to us as other places but I do hope that you will come back and visit us again and if you call me I will be sure to make sure we don't cut trees while you are here.

Warm Wishes,
Kara

Employees were friendly and helpful, place was clean, but decor was outdated. Ocean view was nice and beach area was well maintained, however, beaches in the keys are not nice sandy beaches. The on site restaurant was excellent.

Room Tip: Continental breakfast included.
