Returning to -25 degrees, wishing I was back at Coral Bay!
Nice clean small vacation get away. Due to full booking, spent one night in #10 "motel room" which I didn't like - it was just a room. Then moved to #4 efficiency and was very happy with our decision to stay here.
The resort is L shaped from the bay, so the larger the number of your room, the further you are from the water. There is a row of units that sit parallel with the bay, but have a beach, lawn, pool, and more lawn between the room & water front.
Room #4 was clean and met our needs. This is an older Florida building, so it is not "perfect" but just right for how we like to travel. Mom & Pop feel with hosts remembering my name through the stay. The kitchen in the efficiency is adequate to fix a light meal. Small table for 2 in the room. Bed was comfortable. Sliding patio door out to patio table.
Adequate patio furniture at the pool and beach.
Swim in the bay with a snorkel to see plenty of fish & ocean life. It was a little windy while we stayed so visibility was decreased. Feed the fish with food on the dock provided by the hosts.
Overall I found this to be a good value for the dollar compared to what other resorts offered. It may not be as fancy as some others, but perfect for us!
Only complaint - We did have 2 nights when our neighbors were in/out of their unit frequently after we'd gone to bed and we could hear the door shutting every time.

just got back to Indiana 20 degrees yeow
coral bay is the perfect resort for a fun relaxed vacation
Lush with gorgeous flowers, palm trees, grassy lawn, secluded on the bay side with just the perfect ambiance for a florida vacation
every morning got a cup of tea / coffee ambled a few feet to the dock to listened to the morning wake up call of a seagull ( kind a reminds me of a rooster, I am from Indiana) watched fish swimming in the tidal pool, waited for the elusive manatee and danced with the pelicans! they are so friendly we named one rufus because he/she would follow us around like a puppy!
then ambled to the pool which was surround by gorgeous flowers ....
great to float around and see such a beautiful blue sky framed with a canopy of palms..

perfect for families, a couple or fishermen ready to tell a couple "gottaway stories"
the rooms are clean and bright; we stayed in #14 the first night nice big king then # 3 for 6 more nights
the sunsets from the dock were spectacular... sometimes the reflections on the clouds were even more spectacular... watched the sunset in Key west and from lorelei restaurant as well but coral bay was really the place to be!!

we totally enjoyed our stay at coral bay and would go back there in a heart beat!!

My wife and I had a night that we could take a side trip from Miami, and picked this great little resort to spend a night on the Keys.

It was great. The Villas were clean, comfortable, and sunny. The resort has a wonderful enclosed sea pool surrounded by picnic tables and wharves to fish from. The mother - daughter team of Linda - Angie were incredibly nice and friendly.

This is not a big party place. This is the place where you go to rest, relax, and enjoy. It is pretty and peaceful. We slept from 9:00 p.m. to 9:00 a.m. What a relaxing side trip. Thank you Angie and Linda.

Room Tip: Ask to be close to the Ocean

We have stayed at various places in the keys but none like this. We love unit#14 with the king bed and full kitchen. Plenty of privacy, our own table outside and grill area. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back soon! The staff is exceptional and the property manager rocks!

What a find! We have stayed twice and have been very pleased both times. This updated accommodation is cottages and duplexes, complete with kitchens and porches. It is clean without feeling institutional. The property is very private with dense, tropical landscape surrounding it. It has a pool, beach area with lounge chairs and dock. It's tempting to just stay here and not go out at all. The best part is that you get a "piece of the Keys" for a resonable price.

Room Tip: This last time, we booked at the last minute and were told we would be close to the office and close...

3 families came together at Coral Bay on Islamorada at Mile Marker 78 to celebrate my dad's 70th birthday.

The property is on the bayside and is extremely private, not visible from the road and has dense foliage and flowering plants throughout. This makes it nice if you have kids; they can roam somewhat free with minimal worry. It is made up of separate structures divided as 2 room bungalows with private porches. You can rent just one room or the whole 'house.' 1 room has a full kitchen and the other has an efficiency style with mini fridge, coffee pot, etc. Like a hotel, there's a pass-thru door you can open if you're renting the whole house. Kitchens and bathrooms are clean and modern. They're fully outfitted with dishes, cookware, coffee pots, etc. Beds are comfortable, but furnishings are basic in their decor. Wall unit ac cooled very well, but was noisy.

We've vacationed throughout the keys for 30 years and there are several unique benefits to this property in no particular order:

1) It's in the upper keys (mile marker 78) which means it's a relatively short drive from south Florida.
2) It's one of the few places in the keys with an actual large sandy beach.
3) On site is a private lagoon for swimming/snorkeling. We saw more wildlife there than I've ever seen in all my visits to the keys. From the dock we had 2 HUGE sea turtles swim through, a large sting ray, a manatee, and at night 1 large (4 foot) nurse shark and 2 babies1-2 feet). This place must be a popular stop on the interstate highway for sea creatures.
4) There's dock space and a boat ramp so you can bring your own boat. You can also rent boats by the day at nearby Robby's Marina.
5) There's a large tiki hut on the pier with seating for 20. Great place to eat dinner and watch beautiful sunsets. The seating and tabletops are made of real materials (not a wooden picnic table)
6) There's a lot to do here. In addition to the dock and the lagoon, they also have a large pool and plenty of lounge chairs throughout the property. There's a beanbag toss setup and an aviary. They permitted us to bring our outdoor firepit, which we setup on the beach each night for smores.
7) Close to some of the best restaurants and shopping in the keys (Marker 88, Islamorada Fish Company, Green Turtle, etc.)
8) Go feed the tarpons at Worldwide Sportsman or Robby's Marina

There were a few negatives:
- We did have a problem with sugar ants in the kitchen.
- No restaurant or bar on site.
- Although it's in the upper keys, the only grocery store is a few miles north at the Trading Post, which is relatively expensive. Definitely stop at the Publix on Key Largo or Winn Dixie on Tavernier on your way down.
- Bring your own coffee with you. They supply coffee filters, but no coffee or creamer.
- They don't rent water items (kayaks, rafts, paddle boards) on site. But there is a place you can call who will rent and deliver them to you.
- It's not luxury; if you're looking for a 'Tommy Bahama' version of the keys with nice woods and luxury furnishings this isn't it.

The unique features of this property make it perfect for a family getaway. Our group ranged in age from 6 - 70 years old and over 3 days no one was ever bored (including the teenagers and young 20-somethings) The setup of the mini-houses also provided enough separate space and privacy to get a break if you needed it.

Room Tip: Choose one of the bungalows closest to the lagoon for quick access to the water.
