Inadvertently reserved room as single occupancy instead of the actual four adults one child and when checking in were accused of "trying to get away with something". It was a honest oversight but was told I would have to rent a second room. The gentleman at the desk stated there was nothing more he could do for my family and "I needed to get out of his face." Drove to the next hotel who accommodated us no problem and saved $80.

We are so very thankful that we are able to respond to some reviews. Of course this is not what happened. There was nothing "inadvertent" about trying to book our smallest economical single room for one person - which it states all over your reservation confirmation - and then show up with a half dozen (at least) people in the car hiding. We also were taken aback when you demanded that the hotel accommodate you for your mistake, yet refused the option available to you at the time of your check in. We did offer you another room at a very attractive price, yet we could not comp the room for your mistake? We are not sure how this seemed like a reasonable option for you, and why you got so upset. Please note that you were provided exactly what you booked online.

This is an older motel with very small rooms- just enough space for a Queen bed, a small table, and a dresser/TV stand. If it weren't for a trendy micro-hotel in Tokyo, this would have been the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in.

That said, the room was clean and everything in it worked properly. Check in and check out were smooth. There is a beach area with chairs and hammocks and a boat ramp (which, fair warning, smells a bit like dead fish). The location is perfect for exploring the Keys, halfway between Miami and Key West. Be forewarned that Islamorada is a fishing town, and the vast majority of local restaurants specialize in seafood.

Don't expect the Ritz and you'll likely have a pleasant stay.

Thank you for the recent review! We are glad you enjoyed your stay!

We want to remind the readers that the smallest and cheapest rooms are certainly attractively priced for the thrifty shopper, but for usually only $10-$20 more you get a room with double the size and some even with a view of the Atlantic! For obvious reasons, the small single rooms book the fastest during many times of the year - but please check out the other economical options!

Thank you again for finding us and we hope to see you soon!

It is the most disgusting, nasty, moldy motel I've ever seen. The staff must be the rudest people I've ever met! Honestly, every last one of them were horrible. Especially the guy up front, he is the rudest person and the sound of his voice could possibly ruin your vacation alone. HEATH MY WARNINGS! I'm disregarded the reviews and stayed here anyway, DO NOT do that. Please guys, just go camping. Yes, they're "on the water", but we're in the keys! Everything is on the water!

We appreciate being able to respond. This "gentleman" was evicted from the property. He was served a trespass warrant and cannot return. The rest of our hotel guests applauded his eviction.

I have stayed in many hotels in Florida, and by far this motel is the worst place I have ever stayed in. The owners/mangers are the rudest people you will ever encounter. They do not care about nothing except how they can rip you off. Just ask any other business on the Island. They will tell you nightmare stories about this place.

The hotel conditions are disgusting, mold everywhere. Half the stuff in the hotel was broken, the pool was discussting. And finally, when I checked out, they over charged my card by double.
Sleep in your car, it will be a more pleasant experience. I cannot imagine anyone giving this hotel more than 1 star, which in my opinion is too much.

Same guests, different review. They were evicted. And no, they were never overcharged for the room. They were being evicted in the middle of the night, and could not understand that they were also being charged for that night (the hotel could not rent the room obviously, as our housekeeping staff leaves in the afternoon). They are not allowed back on property, but unfortunately we cannot stop them from posting several bad reviews.

This is not a fancy hotel, but it does not advertise itself as one. We rented 2 rooms and 1 cottage (all clean) for 12 people on a family vacation. This place needs to be updated but all the showers, kitchen appliances and wall A/C's worked, the one in the cottage worked best! They are short-staffed in the housekeeping department, but the manager, Cynthia, is very sweet and attentive, and made sure that we had everything we needed during our stay. She even directed us to great local places that are family-friendly. There are many places in Islamorada but so many are overpriced and don't have a boat dock. Although this place could be much better, we did enjoy the simple pleasures that Harbor Lights had to offer.

Room Tip: Room 37 has the best view!

Thank you for the great review! We appreciate the comments, and strive to provide an affordable resort on the ocean that is clean and comfortable. Most people appreciate the money they save by staying at Harbor Lights, and we know we are not here to compete with the resorts charging 2-3 times more in Islamorada!

See you again soon!

Lousy service: Lacking many amenities and one day after fishing all day we came back to find no towels or anything and when I went to office to report this , I was left just standing there for 10 minutes before the girl told me to go back to my room and that she was "working on it". We finally got some towels but no maid service and no clean sheets.

We are so sorry that you did not have a perfect stay. After speaking with the staff, we realized that you came back into the room as it was being serviced that afternoon. Our staff was literally in the middle of cleaning it when you returned and asked them to leave. They did as you requested and did not finish. Some of housekeepers speak little English, so you may have thought you were telling them something and they might have mistaken what you were saying!

We are so sorry for the inconvenience, and hope you give u another chance to get it right!
